I turn the computer off by killing the power uncannily often... I probably shoudln't do that.

OTOH, the PC shouldn't do that either, y'know, freezing and all...

As long as you don't kill -9 -1 with a finger on the power button while something is being written, the actual harm should be minimal.

EDIT : Yes, you can kill -9 -1 with a finger without causing any harm. Derp.
