I used to think I wanted to read those books before, but not so much now; they seem too life changing for me.

It's just that I've never read a good book before.
Decent? Sure.
Renowned? Obviously.
But never good.

Is it sad that I don't have any motivation to read books anymore even though I was a ravenous reader as a young lad?

Nah. No sense doing something you don't want to do.

Its like I want to read, but I can't find anything that interests me anymore. Its just so off-putting.

I have a similar affliction, but if I'm going to try to write at least semi-professionally, I need to read a bunch.

I would so much learn to fly, but it's even easier and more profitable to compalin not being able to. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

It's only sad in that it reminds me of myself. Loved reading as a kid and a teen, but I haven't read a new non-light novel book in ages. With the exception of the new Artemis Fowl book. And the Woman in White by Wilkie Collins.

Do the Artemis Fowl books even count? I read the first two a long while ago and they were pretty lightweight.

It counts as a children's book.
But the first two are sorta shorter than the sequels, I believe. My "Artemis Fowl and the Time Cube" was pretty thicker than "Arctic Expedition" and "Artemis Fowl" though that may have been the paper.

So Harry Potter Syndrome? The first books are small and then become War and Peace in later volumes?

Why do clowns still exist? Nobody thinks they're funny or remotely entertaining (unless they're getting hurt, like a nutshot) and they're either creepy or creeps (sometimes both). Same with mimes.

I like clowns :<
EDIT: When I was a kid, I had a clown for my birthday, and he played with me and gave me a huge present. They can be nice. I mean, they're just people in costumes. They can be cool. Like comedians: you can say that they all suck because most stand ups suck, but there are always some good ones.

He's not a real clown, though, so he doesn't count.

Look, if a man's wearing make up and he's funny, he's either a clown, mime or Eddie Izzard.

Eddie Izzard is a lovely clown. Though for a straight man, he sure loves high heels.

Not all transvestites are gay, darling. Plus, when you're a English comedian you'll often find yourself wearing a dress on occasion.

I could never wear high heels, though. Mostly because I'm afraid of height. Though the fact that they would emphasize my butt is mighty promising.
