QUOTE(radixius @ May 29 2011, 15:26) The difference is, I don't carry myself with an air of superiority.
It's more jarring when an egotist makes an idiotic statement and then stands by it blind to their own hubris. So I carry myself with an air of superiority? I guess it might look so to others, but that's not a conscious impression I'd want to make, and there are lots of people I feel inferior to. Some here. I consider you not bereft of air of superiority either. And the fact that you're not above saying something is stupid, but usually above explaining the judgement doesn't help my opinion. I stated that I regret that lawmakers in US no longer care about making the society prosper as much as about their particular interests and bribes. Especially when I think of time in XVIII century when Constitution and Federalist Papers were written. Care to elaborate on why you'd consider this statement as stupid, or was it just a remark to boost your ego?

It was a remark upon your remark, nothing more, nothing less.
I figured it was an ill demonstration of your ability to describe what you were feeling.
You're "mourning" some imaginary ideal, some long-forgotten goal? A poor choice of words. I'd figure you'd feel it was an unabashed corruption and malfeasance toward society as a whole.
"Mourning" doesn't really even make sense.
I guess I just expected better.

House's self-performed surgery was the most amazing thing I've seen this week.

Great. Now that you said that there will be a discussion about the new series. Therefore I cannot follow this thread for at least a day for not wanting to spoil it for myself. Garrrrrreat!

That's really all I've got, the rest of the episode was kind of weak to me.

I guess I just expected better. Thank you for the explanation (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I'm not as good with English as I'd like to be, and I probably used the word 'mourning' incorrectly, not having a good feel for how it should be used (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I read Jefferson's biography recently, and some of his letters, and ideas people have about the world, country and democracy today seem to me like commercials/shallow lies compared to what was expressed then. I guess this feeling of regret that people who make laws no longer express such ideas (that I agree with) so clearly can't be called mourning.

Indeed, but Jeffersonian politics are very, very idealistic and can't be followed in a real-world format where everyone's opinions are constantly diverging from what could be considered "normal" in the world that Jefferson's theory of politics could thrive absolutely.
I honestly believe that America does well enough upholding what the man had thought about and set forth, but the decline in recent years is troubling indeed.

This week? Did they just rerun it on USA or something? Anyway, I'm not sure I'd call it amazing. Spoiler text - Highlight to read... Taub getting two chicks pregnant at the same time, on the other hand...

I watch on Hulu during downtime on slow days at work. It's a good time waster.

I got A Game of Thrones, a nice red (READ: raspberry lemonade) and a case of insomnia. Do I try to kill the last 200 pages I have left in this book in a single sitting, or is that a bad idea?

Depends what the morning has in store, I guess. If you're one of those suspicious people with these so-called "jobs," I'd say probably not. But if you don't need to be up early, go for it.

At least you probably understand more than me.
I skim so quickly that I don't even see most of the plot points coming.
Then I'm like, when did this character appear?
Then on my fourth skim-reread I go, oh shit, why didn't I notice this?
Then I go outside and punch a random kid to punish him / her for my personal failings.
