Gonna vent a little bit here. Forgive me.
I have a very bad habit when socializing with people, be they friend or family, of not answering what I consider to be stupid/boring/redundant questions. In a nutshell, I hate repeating myself or wasting my breath on talking just for the sake of talking. In particular, I get really irritated really quickly when someone asks me a question that they could easily answer for themselves with a minimum of effort; asking me for information that's right in front of their faces, asking about something while on the computer that a 0.04 second search on Google would answer, and worst of all (a reoccurring habit of one or two people), asking for answers to questions that they won't fucking remember moments after I answer anyway.
Examples this week;
"Hey (Whittle), didn't you say once that ___ is just like ___? And then didn't you ___ and ___ to prove it?" *While the person has their laptop on and in their lap* "Hey (Whittle), what's the drop rate for ___ monster carve in Monster Hunter?" *Less than 20 minutes ago, while the laptop/browser in question is on, download bar is running* "Is the program downloading?"
The worst thing is, I'm a jerk for doing anything but indulging the asker 9 times out of 10. Why the fuck should I have to respond to this shit? :/
The first example, you already know the goddamn answer. You've repeated it almost verbatim, using my own speech patterns and occasionally similar body language. At that point, you're just fishing for me to respond affirmatively so we can have a good laugh or something, but it's a shame that it isn't funny, but instead really dry and a waste of time compared to trying some new conversation. Fucking stop it.
The second example, fucking really? I can handle being asked this on occasion, especially if the topic is one that I'm knowledgeable about to the point where I can just rattle the numbers off, but don't use me for reference all the damn time. This is honestly the least offensive of the examples, but when it's overdone, I want to cause minor physical harm to something, up to and including myself.
The third example... I don't have words to describe my irritation. It's like a subdued equivalent to frothing rage. Much more so when people give me lip for glaring at them or telling them something like "Jesus Christ, use your eyes". I'm pretty sure I'm not the one deserving of dirty looks when you're playing an RPG and you can't find a pair of fucking bright yellow double-doors in a purple room, or when you repeatedly fail to see a progress bar that takes up 20% of your monitor.
tl;dr I hate answering stupid questions with a passion that probably surpasses that of many fanatics. Asking me to answer a question that you know or can easily discover on your own makes me want to turn your skull into a fleshy concave container. At least in person, when I have to deal with the consequences of being impatient and snarky.

QUOTE(Rob Itagaki @ Apr 14 2011, 18:38) I might be on Xbox later. If you're not in the bath tub bleeding out of your wrists, hit me up.
Anytime Rob uses 'might', don't count on it. I only cut one wrist as a warning shot, don't make me do the other one.

I'm sure if you were that desperate for mediocre conversations, you could go on Skype and talk with Geo.

QUOTE(radixius @ Apr 15 2011, 23:21) I feel a bit better after that vent. I don't expect my situation to change, though, unless I pack up and move (a very tempting proposition as of late). At the rate things are going, I'm going to have to move clear across the country to Cali, anyway. I don't expect that I'd be much of an improvement, but I just recently got Skype and I only have two people on it to talk to. .-. If you want to shoot the shit sometime, capi-tan, say the word.

I prefer human to human contact, myself.
And not just the sexual kind, either.
Although, the sexual type is pretty cool.

Via text is one of my favored methods of communication, but I hate text messaging on phones. In fact, I hate any form of communication that can be accomplished with a modern phone. I prefer face-to-face or live text chat.

One of my most favorite moments in my life is not only finding Foxy Brown at a pawn shop, but also, upon purchase, having a aged black guy behind me say, and this is a direct quote, "Right on, young brother."

Because Blaxploitation movies are amazing. My greatest regret is not being able to find Coffy or Cleopatra Jones. Maybe a Dolemite or two.

Of course, I'm still trying to hunt down Across 110th Street, but I do have Jackie Brown, my favorite Tarantino movie, and intended to watch it today at work, but... I got a little carried away elsewhere.

You think everyone needs help so maybe it is you that actually needs it.
