Did he say he didn't? Cause I'm pretty sure he did (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I didn't cheat, as far as my moral understanding goes.

Is there a way to get to Rivet City before the main story takes you there? I have two seperate side missions (the kid from Greyditch and Moira Brown) that require me to go there. I can't seem to get near it, everywhere is filled with rubble.

Doesn't the Pipboy give you waypoint markers for it? You can try crossing the river and following along it, that's what I did.

It gives a way point, but not a direct path. I find myself wandering up and down the coast (or closest I can get to it) and being obstructed somehow. I'm not entirely sure it can be done yet. I'm quite curious though, I like getting further than you're "meant" to in a game.

That's one of the things about how FO3's exterior worldspace is generated. Some areas aren't actually full rendered (much of the DC area) so if you clip through obstacles, there's nothing actually there. You could try going for a swim, since there should be a way to Rivet City from the bay.

I'm not sure I know what you mean, but if you're refering to walking through non-physical obstacles, it doesn't work. I can't even jump over seemingly innocuous rubble. My map is showing me that Rivet City is still some ways away. I'm over the main river (in that I can reach the Sewers were the mole rats are) but at the edge of that whole bit of land...if 'ya get me.

The first time I went to Rivet City, I didn't feel like trudging through DC, so I jumped in the river for a swim and swam all the way there. Take some Rad-X and Radaway, and just follow the river south. Eventually, you'll see the Jefferson Monument. You might have to dodge some Super Mutants, but just go around it heading eastward. You should see a bit of beach you can walk on to and Rivet City's carrier will be visible. It should just be a short walk between the monument and the bridge to Rivet City.

Mkay, I found it. Turns out it is accessible and by land no less. Chalk this one up to stupidity on my part.

If you actually check out west immediately in the start of Fallout 3 you'll find an abandon car garage that has a hidden entrance to the vault your old man is hiding out in. I actually avoided having to talk to the bartender in Megaton, going through the DC area to get to the radio station to talk to Three Dog, going to Rivet City to talk to your dad's friend and then checking out the Jefferson Memorial to find out he's at this vault all the way across the fucking map. I avoided a lot of bullshit early in the game doing this..

Oh, that's pretty cool. That they allowed it in the game I mean. At the moment I'm looking for the entrance to the broken section of Rivet City. If memory serves, I've never gained entry to this before.

There's two entrances. One is in the water and you have to swim through the flooded part of the ship and deal with Mirelurks. and the other is I believe a level 75 door you can actually follow a dock right up to. Just watch out for shit like mines and other booby traps inside.

Enjoy the viruses. QUOTE(Anto of the Sand @ Nov 3 2010, 04:37) Hmm...I might need specifics. I've been swimming for ages and have Rad up the ass. (never thought saying that would be a bad thing) Is the entrace on the dock side or the opposite?
I believe the underwater entrance is near the split in the hull of the ship. You can reach easier by going around the outside of the intact part of the ship crossing the draw bridge to Rivet City and jumping off into the water. Just gotta save first and look around like a madman. The door can be found if you just swim around the part of the broken ship that faces towards land, you really can't miss it. Careful as I remember there being mines on the dock, Mirelurks in the water and Super Mutants on shore can shoot at you from in shore. There isn't much there, honestly, unless you're looking for the cyborg for the guy in Rivet City, the only thing there is a doctor who can change your character's appearance.
