WTF

Did something just get changed because I just entered my first hourly after dawn of the new day event and this is what I get:

0 5 Spawned Monster D: MID=7 (Scary Ghost) LV=80 HP=2910 MP=55 SP=18 NA=82 Type=hostile
0 4 Spawned Monster C: MID=25 (Mutant Peacock) LV=77 HP=2685 MP=63 SP=23 NA=85 Type=hostile
0 3 Spawned Monster B: MID=9 (Cookie Monster) LV=79 HP=2448 MP=84 SP=26 NA=88 Type=hostile
0 2 Spawned Monster A: MID=16 (Manbearpig) LV=78 HP=37620 MP=127 SP=69 NA=77 Type=hostile
0 1 Initializing random encounter ...
0 0 Battle Start!

that's just bad luck, its always been possible to run into a legendary in hourlies normal or above just like in grindfest. Also looks like if a legendary gets spawned that it doesn't take one of the other monsters spots.... guess that's why you sometimes get 10 monsters in grindfest.

I have never encountered a legendary during an hourly since H-verse started way back in march/april. For that matter I have also never encountered a legendary ever in grindfest either. This is the first time ever for me. I wonder what probability of spawning a legendary in an hourly/grindfest.

I've had a White Bunneh 2 or 3 rounds into a Normal grindfest.
Guess it's all random.

You still haven't. Manbearpigs are bosses not legendaries.

I just ran into Dalek in the first round of Grindfest. I came in with 20 hp and 200 mp. Somehow, I managed to survive long enough to kick his ass.

@Tenboro:
With these new item slots, would you mind reducing some of the space between them in the battle screen? Having to scroll is kinda ugly.

Sorry it's me again.
Tenboro I'm still levelling at a much higher pace than I can generate credits or level my equipment. Would you mind adding a toggle for exp on/off?
I know it's a retarded suggestion but I can't think of anything else right now.

I can see how levelling fast would be a problem, but if anything, it should make it easier to level your equipment through Item World (unless by level you meant buy better gear). Higher levels means access to a wider variety of attack options, AND better equipment drops. You can only get into individual Arenas if your level is high enough for them.

As for credits, I know nobody likes to hear it, but it really is to your benefit to donate to the site. if nothing else, donating would give you instant credits, which you could use to buy better equipment (and I'd suggest getting it from your fellow gamers, the selection and pricing is usually better). I'm pretty sure that HV is purposely designed to make it difficult to earn tons of credits just by playing. The idea is that you'll contribute to the site in other ways to get ahead.

Being able to turn EXP off might actually make the game too easy. Then you could raise your profs forever.

@Tenb: I'm pretty sure the "of the shielding aura" armor is bugged, and if it's not, I think it needs tweaking.

QUOTE
- The effects of special elemental defensive mitigations (soul/fire/cold/elec/wind/dark/holy) given by for example the Fire-eater series have been significantly increased. Soul is five times as powerful as before, the rest ten times.
- Tenboro for 0.3.3

Average leather helmet of the shielding aura
Physical Absorption 6.4
Physical Mitigation 1.0
Magical Absorption 4.4
Magical Mitigation 1.1
Evade Chance 1.4
Resist Chance 2.1
Burden 7.8
Interference 7.2
Damage Type Mitigations
Crushing 1.8 Slashing 1.0
Piercing 0.7 Soul 2.7
Primary Attribute Bonuses
Dexterity 1.1
Level 165 / Slot: Helm / Type: Light armor

2.7% soul mitigation is utterly worthless, and the highest I've seen EVER is 5%. I don't think it's supposed to be that low considering it's supposed to be 5x higher than earlier pieces.

Tried that... Problem right now is probably all the exp+ I invested in vs. the reduction in credit gains.

The "problem" (it's not really a problem, I mean, I love it, but I'm stuck at the same time) with item world is that for some reasons even on cake, I can pretty much pick up a level doing 7-8 Lv20-30-ish pieces of equipment. But then of course on cake you don't always get something out of doing item world and I just can't really bridge the gap.

Higher levels means access to a wider variety of attack options and better equipment drops... I kind of agree with you. Although at level 40-ish your abilities aren't that powerful (I'm not sure if I should try and go for Lv.50... I have a feeling I'll be stuck even more with my gears at around Lv47-48), and it takes forever to get something decent to drop (my case at least).

I've just barely cleared the Lv.20 Arena (A Rolling Stone) now that I'm Lv.44, with all the help from the godly stuff as well. Tells you how shitty an HV player I am lol.

QUOTE(dap00 @ Nov 16 2009, 18:25) *

I'm going to avoid talking about donation so my apologies.
I'm not sure about fellow gamers offering better deals. I just don't see why anyone would go through all the troubles of posting and listing their stuff and then sell it cheaper than what the bazaar would offer.
I agree that you should contribute more to get more in return, although the way it's set up right now is a bit harsh to me. Honestly I find myself spending way too much time looking for stuff to upload recently and it's just not too healthy mentally. Maybe I'm just a bit too goal oriented when it comes to gaming (even HV), maybe I'm just a bit soft. Oh well.

Yeah I guess... I didn't take into account how some of the better players can do that.

Anyway thanks guys.
Perhaps I should just stop playing for a while lol.

I can think of a few ways to cut down on EXP, while still growing a little.

1) Take all Ability Points out of EXP Bonus, if you have them there.

2) Don't train Adept Learner anymore.

3) Apparently if you post enough daily, that gives you an EXP bonus, so I guess lurking more, in this case, might be a good thing.

4) Don't do anything to get yourself in a toplist position (you're on the cleanup toplist now, just so you know), as those give more EXP. Which isn't to say don't contribute at all, just don't do it so much that you end up in the top 25. Though, with as few people that do it regularly, you'd probably almost have to stop it entirely for a while.

5) When trying to get magic related proficiencies up, don't finish the battle. For example, if you want to improve your Supportive profs, cast the Supportive spell you have that costs the least amount of MP over and over until you run out of MP, then flee. This way, you don't get EXP while still improving slowly.

Your best bet for decent equipment really is the other gamers as of right now. The really good stuff doesn't show up in the Bazaar enough, or drop enough to be counted on. I know cmal has decent prices, I've bought most of my stuff from him. If you can't afford anything that he's selling, I don't know what else to tell you.

What's your style of combat? Most of the new abilities you get through levelling will be magic-based, and the things that could benefit purely melee style are a loooong ways off.

And if it makes you feel any better, I've only gotten as far as Blazing Field myself, and I've only cleared that a handful of times.

Contributing a gallery isn't as hard as you might think. You could do a collection of images from a series that you like as an image set, or do just about anything under Misc. It's true that in order to see major benefits, you'd need lots of galleries, but just having a few could only help you.

Well, I think i thought up a good way to grind profs without levelling:
1) Start a IW Flimsy@Battletoads. (Difficulty can be lower, Quality higher, but be sure you could handle it, and it would require a lot of action)
2) On a first round, Kill everything except most harmless mob.
3) Beat that last mob until it has only a few HPs left
4) FLEE!!! You don't get any exp until you cleared the round. But your profs will rise, from all the beating you did.
5) Rince repeat.

Credits, on other hand... True enough, only real way to earn a good fortune is to contribute to the site, be it new galleries or running the h@h or seeding the torrents or just plain ol'good cash infusion.

Still wish there is an option in settings that prevents you gaining exp bonus, especially from auras and toplist bonus.

You can only enter item world 10 times a day, so I doubt you'll gain that much proficiencies that way.

Holy crap I didn't even know I made it into the toplist. As much as I agree that your suggestions will be a short-term solution for me, I still think it'd be nice for Tenboro to address this... I dunno "oversight"? (I've been trying to think of a milder/more neutral term but my brain once again failed me).

I looked up cmal's thread, and a heavy armour set will most likely cost me 10000c. I'm not sure if I'm ready to pay that "much" yet. Yeah I know I'm a stingy cheap bastard.
Btw cmal if you're by any chance reading this... you need to fix the link in your sig.

>my style of combat
I go dual wield with 2 daggers of focus. Used to wear a hybrid of fine cloth and light but now I'm using full average heavy. Of course now my interference and burden have gone to shite. At least I haven't failed casting a heal/shield yet.
Right now the armour absorbs 11.9 in both physical and magical damage and 8% in mitigation.
+16.2% damage, +44.8% to hit (natural +78%) but I still miss quite a lot. Attack/Shield/Barrier rating are at 89/89/88. Proficiencies in the 30's.
For the hourlies I put shield up and heal/weaken when needed. For grinds it's luck really lol.

>Galleries
Everything I have has already been uploaded. And I guess I'm a bit picky in what to upload. The real porn sets I personally don't think qualified as "hentai". I feel better uploading game cg's cause people might want to buy the game for the playing experience (although I doubt it)... unlike doujin's where the authors are immediately screwed... yeah yeah I know I'm being a hypocrite but I do art for a living as well so I can kinda relate to it. But anyway, most of the games these days just aren't worth ripping (they all look the same to me), unless you do it purely for the c/gp.
Ok nm the problem is with me.

>and H@H.
1) I'm not willing to risk my main computer, but I don't have a spare. I know people say it's safe, but, you know.
2) My connection is shite. Well decent I guess, but not that great.

You'll have to go with heroic-nightmare to be on managable side of damage-to-killtime, but other than that, no change to algorithm.

Not sure how gaining exp can be an oversight but....ok

I have no idea why you are using 2 daggers of focus in full plate the interference basically makes that extra magic hit pointless. Get a Rapier, or high bleed weapon. Overall you really need better gear, your absorption numbers and mitigation numbers are really really low for all heavy....I actually have more of both in mostly cloth, but that level difference is a fairly significant factor with that.

As for uploading guess that's all up to you, I really think most people just upload for GP, there are a few that do it to share stuff they like but those are both few and far between and well its hard to find something you like that's not already up. You could just make and seed torrents for the stuff you do like on the site...but again up to you.

And ya there is actually a limit on how many grindfests you can start per 24 hours.... if you keep losing in the first 10 or so rounds you'll probably hit it in under an hour.

Well, Fight "till get killed on Battletoads -> Rest until ready to go -> Repeat" is pretty lengthy plan, so you'll manage to stay under the limit (unless you have too much free time).
