Was there some balance for quartering our primary stat bonuses? And I like the question about item leveling something without a proc. Will the same apply for crit chances? Can I level something I have now and have it gain the new stats?

Also: battle scroll/infusion ability descriptions are reversed.

LOL, totally called it.

So I'm guessing this

- Note that some ranges have been widened and adjusted to fit the loot engine tweaks. This will have caused some stat changes on existing gear.

is what effectively halved our Stat bonuses from equipment.

I need to take some time to process the changes. Except for the above, I'm not particularly happy or unhappy about anything, really. Some of the new additions (MMail, Battle Regen, and non-restorative slots) are neat, but I'm not dancing in the streets yet.

This, please. Don't know if I could last 100+ rounds of Normal+ in IW, though....

This won't change special type right? Submitting my ethereal rapier to this won't turn it into a regular one right?
Generally speaking, oh fucking fuckity fuck fuck.

Right now, playing in the Item World can only increase the level of the weapon, it doesn't actually affect the stats directly.

QUOTE(DemonEyesBob @ Oct 30 2009, 18:26) *

Ummmm please undo this. It makes legendaries impossible to beat. I was going to take on real life today and now I'm not, because he crits me for 1/4 of my health fairly often, and if I can't weaken him I'll be dead in 5 turns and if I can't silence him I'll be dead in less.

If it's not obvious, I'm trying to change the legendaries from something you can (only?) beat by spending half your time constantly casting silence and weaken to something that you need to counter in specific ways. Not having to balance them against all the debuffs at once is step one. Or rather, it was actually step 2, since I turned the power of legendary attacks way down live a few days back. "Waah, I can no longer use the old strategy" won't fly, but I'll be tuning them throughout 0.4.

I guess I'll wait to do IW until later. Don't want to level-up my equipment past the point of being able to clear them before all the best stuff comes in. These non-retroactive equipment changes totally kill my junk.

So basically, you're tuning (yes, tuning not turning) the Boss fights into things we have to prepare for by doing things like putting on equipment with specific mitigations so we don't get ass-raped by attacks or using damage types that they're weak against so we don't spend forever doing 1 dmg? Does this apply to everything we can fight in the RoB, or are you focusing more on the KyoAni girls and the mythical beasts (as implied by your use of "Legendaries")?

Would retroactively giving all weapons a crit chance of zero make them get normalized crit chances through leveling?

Retroactive weapon procs is less of an issue, the only things I ever kept without procs are daggers, and honestly, who uses a dagger for its bleed damage lol?

Item World is really fun! It's a pretty neat idea, never heard of it before now.

So, I've never played Disgaea, but always wanted to... haven't owned a PS since the first one...... this _unrelated_ talk of this game makes me want to move on this. *hits wikipedia* Apparently there is a DS version >_>...

Briefly off topic, is Disgaea DS good?

On topic, Credit drop is widely varied, it seems. I can get anywhere from 9 to 45 credits in a normal grindfest round with three monsters for each.

any chance of a toggleable classic magic selection preference so that you can cast magic using the old spell menus? (if you preferred the 0.3.10 and before way of doing it and were able to fit all your spells, I mean come on, the first thing I see when I click magic is offensive, one spell, MAGIC MISSILE, I am never going to cast this :P)

LOL, proc daggers. But this is a good idea. And it would also allow us to get Resist chance on old armor, as well, if we had the resolve to go through IW and improve that beloved piece of legacy equipment.

I'd suggest setting a "preferred" pane in the setting screen. Tanks will probably never use offensive spells, so if we can set Tactical as the default pane for when we hit Magic I think will be a better option.

BTW, I'm assuming the Spike Shields are considered Support spells since they show up in Tactical. Correct me if I'm horribly wrong.

I've been enjoying Disgaea DS quite well, and I've played the first 2 on the ps2. If you want more of the same with some nice tweaks and portability, I recommend it.

On topic, I love the new improvement! Regeneration and random credit drops are awesome, and I can't wait to start upping my high power low-level equipment.

Is there a set amount of levels you can gain for an equipment in the Item World?

Tenboro, is there something that I'm not understanding about Item World, or is there a glitch??

The Weapon that I was fighting inside of [Average Ethereal Steel Rapier of Balance] was Level 43 when I started, and it's still Level 43 now (yes, the End of Battle message for Item World did indeed tell me that my Wep was increased by one level).

Also, the 2H actually in my hand is still at Level 81.

Did I miss something??

EDIT: Nevermind, it simply takes a minute or two to manifest. Thanks again for the Item World concept.

Oh, one more thing: Have you played or heard of a game called Disgaea?? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Yes, Lol@proc daggers (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

But it is a rather good idea if I do say so myself, although it takes a couple of assumptions regarding the new leveling, loot quality and equipment mechanisms, so I don't know if it'll work - gotta wait and hear from tenb. I'm willing to use some mana elixirs to go 150 rounds and to give my superior ethereal emerald rapier a crit bonus. Same thing with my usual 2hander. I'd prefer if we _didn't_ need to do that, but oh well.

So, now we can popup all our equipped gear an go in Bazaar while still being able to see their stats? WOW!

Also, lol @ release thread becoming new HV Suggestions Thread.
I honestly believe it was a mistake to lock official one. It IS better to have one big thread for all suggestions than billion one-post "Change this and that" threads cluttering the forum and burying good threads in that mountain of garbage, for me.

That's also good but I'd prefer a setting to be able to use the classic magic selection that shows all your spells in one screen (I want to completely not have to ever click tactical or offensive ever :P)

I haven't a clue but I'd think it'd be your level (if it went over wouldn't you lose stats due to scaling?)

Ahh... I see what you did there to weaken. Thank you for that. Mind doing it to poison, slow and haste too? Or at least the latter two? <3

When all items have auto-refill on, could hitting auto-all again turn it off for all of them? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Double Boo!

Other than those, this was a generally interesting update.

It would be cool if there was some way of reseting auras and stats since it would be almost impossible for me to switch into a mage since my auras/stats are focused on improving physical.

Wow. I don't know if its because of tweaks nerfing some of my combat capabilties or if its something else entirely, but I just did Power Flux and Killzone on Normal and ate through my MP like Trick-or-Treaters on a sugar binge. It seemed like I was taking tons more damage and dealing less damage so I needed to cast Cure more often. Those equipment stat bonus drops took a pretty hefty chunk out of my Derived stats and I don't know if the Battle Regen can keep up (I'm not even sure how that works). Looks like I'll have to give up Endgame for a while again, after I just restarted doing it, too.
