QUOTE(radixius @ Oct 30 2009, 12:23) Also; I know you're not a magician or what have you, but would it be possible to get a MoogleMail notice in the forum PMs, just in case you come here first and one shows up. It's not important, but it may help some of the locals.
Agree. I'll probably not check my MoogleMail unless something or someone tells me to.

A pop-up would also probably be more noticeable than the tiny icon in the upper-right corner, too. The icon could also use some snazzing up to make it stand out more. Like maybe a bright color. That scroll slot totally saved me in Endgame. Stacking Shields = Win. Looks like I can still play Endgame for as long as I have Scrolls. Fortunately, I've been keeping some in reserve when I sell items.

QUOTE(Tenboro @ Oct 30 2009, 08:45) - All offensive damage spells have been rebalanced. -- Tier 1 single-target spells now do slightly more damage than normal attacks (except for being magic/elemental), but costs significantly less to cast. (Less than 1/4th of the old cost, in fact.) -- Tier 2 single-target spells now do roughly the same damage as the old Tier 1 spells, at half the old T1 cost. -- Tier 3 and 4 single-target spells do less damage (about 60% of before) but costs about 35% of the old cost. -- AoE spells for the most part do the same damage as before, only at a lower cost.
After grinding a little bit, I see what you were trying to do, so I take back my criticism. You're intending offensive spells to basically replace normal attacks at a 1-1 rate. I can get behind that.

Wait, what? There was some kind of MM indicator already? I so didn't notice it, if there was one.

QUOTE(Magenta @ Oct 30 2009, 21:34) That said, one question - is the Item World meant to have an EXP cut like the Grindfest considering it's difficulty drop, or is it's EXP rate so high due to the lack of credits? I just decided to do a run of a level 21 item - way below my level - failed on the last round, but got enough EXP in the process to beat out my DAILY EXP gain pre-0.4/Item World. Seems a little... powerful.
In the Item World, exp rate and monster damage are both affected by the power of the weapon you're fighting in. In the vast majority of cases (everything above crude) it will end up better than the grindfest, and yeah, this is mostly because there's no credit drops. QUOTE(Lunatic2 @ Oct 30 2009, 22:09) Tenb: As reward in battles sometimes i get like 8ish credits for beating a mob of 3-4 and other time i get 40ish for the same mob.
Is this some weird intentional randomness or a bug?
Sounds a bit strange that it varies that much, but as long as it's not 40 million I'll just keep it in mind instead of looking for anything. QUOTE(Panuru @ Oct 30 2009, 22:49) This makes Ether Theft a net loss. You not only need to have enough mana left to cast an offensive spell, you need to cast it enough times to have CM attach and to have ET attach during the few rounds that's active. Casting more than a couple times trying to produce this will cost more mana than Ether Theft returns.
Except that you're killing mobs while you try to proc it. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) QUOTE So to get a free spell, you need to cast magic until you get CM, then physically attack it until ET triggers, then cast magic until Channeling triggers? It'll take some practice to adjust, so we'll see. It makes non-ET staffs pretty worthless, though. Keep in mind that all new staffs will have the ET proc. QUOTE(cmal @ Oct 30 2009, 23:02) A pop-up would also probably be more noticeable than the tiny icon in the upper-right corner, too. The icon could also use some snazzing up to make it stand out more. Like maybe a bright color.

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Keep in mind that all new staffs will have the ET proc. It's definitely moved to an incidental effect rather than a deliberate one. Well, one of these "it's not retroactive, so you're SOL" changes had to bite me eventually.

Ah, the fabled 0.4.0 update at last! It truly is a sight to behold. There were quite a few changes in there that people have been asking for a while now like the out of MP message being moved. (Don't see anyone pointing them out though). (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I love all the changes that involve reducing the costs of spells I actually use. Weaken is now cheaper for me than poison when they used to be the same. All AoE's are vastly cheaper (Purge went from 12 to 7, Inferno went from 10 to 3!!! That's quite a gap inbetween Purge and Inferno (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ). Damage reduction on single-target spells don't particularly bother me, because I only resort to offensive spells when shit gets real, and by that time I wouldn't be using single-target spells. Battle regeneration is awesome. If you ran out of mana and still somehow managed to survive for some odd turns, you would have a chance at bouncing back instead of just throwing stones until you die. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) MoogleMail. Nice feature. Can you send out mail whenever there is a new version of HV? Preferably with the changes listed in the mail, but if not that, a link to the forum thread for it? If not that even, how about just a version number somewhere on the HV window? The Item World. Awesome, but how does increasing levels affect your equipment? If it does absolutely nothing to actually improve the item, then all you're essentially doing is screwing over any lower level players you potentially give the item to. Maybe you increase sale value with level? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I just went into Crude Silver-adorned Kevlar Breastplate of the Stone-skinned on normal. It was like fighting on cake, but with the difficulty listed as normal. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) QUOTE - Rescaled the chances for all fighting style procs. All procs will now cap around 250 of the corresponding primary stat and 200 of the corresponding proficiency.
I don't know what that means. >_> QUOTE(Magenta @ Oct 30 2009, 16:34) If it's by design, then great, but it seems such an oddly unbalanced amount of EXP considering the rest of the game. Like, I don't see why I'd Grindfest anymore. I might as well just hit the IW - not with the intention of winning, but just to gain ludicrous amounts of EXP.
You would grindfest for credits. Speaking of which... QUOTE - Rare+ mobs should now give the intended amount of credits.
Suddenly getting over 40+ credits, while fun, doesn't seem intended. If it was, then HUZZAH FOR ALL! Finding a mutant peacock will ring out a cry of joy rather than a string of expletives! Edit: Scratch one of my comments. CTRL+C for equipment is useful. Won't have to do CTRL+A and delete text now, but will have to do CTRL+C twice. (One to open a new window, once more to copy text for that equipment thread) This post has been edited by xWKx: Oct 31 2009, 00:48

Mm, well I suppose I might as well ask. Are you planning to look into the 1 hand and shield mechanics? As is, the worst weapon style by statistics got its proc nerfed significantly in proc chance by this update, and the proc was already heavily mediocre to start with.

The in-battle health regen makes sense. But why is mana and spirit left behind?
Edited: Oops, I haven't noticed I have a MoogleMail... Wait. what?

They gain stats when they level, if you want to see which, just screenshot them before and after, they're small though, if they go up any it's by 0.1 :P

I just did twisted plots normal overall I would say its probably easier then before because of natural regen. I chose to weaken Mithra instead of silence and overall damage wasn't too bad, melee hit me for 200ish, although undress hit for 1250 and purr for 1490, but that wasn't till everything else was dead so no biggie.

Great update, especially the Item World and new mail system, but seems it will take a while for me to get silence ability :/ This post has been edited by kir: Oct 31 2009, 02:59

Endgame Hard was probably slightly harder then before chose to silence the manbearpig in the last round this time, since it started at nearly full mana/spirit, last round was definitely harder this time. I miss being able to weaken and silence but so far it doesn't feel broken, of course I might rethink this when I have to face 2 legendaries in Sealed Power

Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but when i click on a tactical magic spell from the quick buttons, it takes me to the offensive spell list.

QUOTE(Alpha 7 @ Oct 30 2009, 16:24) QUOTE(Tenboro @ Oct 30 2009, 09:45)
Misc
- When you're hovering over a piece of equipment, you can now hit Ctrl+C to pop up a description box of the item in question. You can use the URL for this box to link the item to other people. If they're logged on, they'll see it with scaling to their own level. Which should be useful for trading and stuff.
This is totally not working for me. I still have to use the Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C, paste, delete all the excessive info method. I solved the problem. Firefox/3.5.4 pop-up blocker was quietly eating them. QUOTE(kir @ Oct 30 2009, 20:49) Just out of curiosity, will burden and interference go down when level up?
They can go up. My first test of it with a Level 9 Shield saw Block and Burden go up +0.1 with the IW Equipment level-up.
