Good question! You would think that it changes at midnight because it is a server side thing

You can throw in trophies in the shrine to get a decent shield you know...

I'm pretty sure that the 2-3 other shops that have that range is stock do have some too. And let's not forget about level unassigned equips that most likely have shields too. For your forging concern to raise the block chance: go ahead if it's a buckler or a kite shield (not more than 5 levels of upgrade), don't even think about it if it's a force shield, unless your force shield is a Legendary.

As for your matter with "last turn on buff icon", huh... the Monsterbation script already shows the turns left on every buff icon and flashes the buff bar pink when one is about to expire.
