silence FSM

I'm still working on my Deprecating prof (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) For now when I fight FSM I just use Absorb/SoL and Spirit Shield to tank the SP (20k of damage if it connects holy shit), and meanwhile Backstab him to death.

I asked because Tokens of blood are bloody rare, so I wanted to know if I should keep them instead of doing FSM at Hell. As always thanks for all the answers.

hmm... you may even do it without Silence. or farma bit of depr in these missing 10 levels (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

however, personaly i coonsider it worth for the ~250k reward (trophies included).

Deprecating spells are life. At some point the deprecating prof will be maxed out even before supportive spells.
If your own deprecating prof is really low, you may try to fight FSM with a "heavy mage" equipped with an oak staff of the earthwalker. At least the staff will give you a good base proficiency. If you don't want to go that way, just use spark of life, spirit shield. and maybe absorb. That should do the trick.

That being said, there is no use fighting FSM in Hell difficulty. Just do it in Hard (or even Normal) and call it a day. And your tokens of blood should be used for him and only him, nothing else.

i was referring to a generic mage - thus imperil holy/dark included. only difference is that holy and dark can choose to either use or not to use imperil

Dark can play imperil style, it has been reported to be just as good or slightly better. Holy is the only one where imperil far worse than without imperil.

Okay so just holy without imperil for sure. But what make you choose if you play dark with or without imperil? I mean when it is just as good or even slightly better, why even play it without imp? And this question comes from someone who never played as mage.

your taste in primis, i guess. but non-imperil needs more proficiency (therefore a different armor setup), so it may also be due to which pieces you can find.

So the dark imperil mage is dark mage for poor people. Now i get it.

Yea, I'm already doing this.
And the difficulty is not really FSM itself, it's more like kill the Schoolgirls as fast as possible. After he's alone he's just a big bag of meat for DW/Deprecating proficiency farming (Still 78 at DW, my 2H is over 202 by now (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif) ). This is why I'm fine doing him at Hell instead of Hard.
Once in a while he bypasses Absorb, but it's nothing really scary with Spirit Shield (I mean, 14k damage convers into about 110 SP, SoL is not even half as efficient).

Talking about Deprecating, are the other spells (Slow, Sleep, Confuse, Imperil, Magnet) for any decent use for melee? I know the thing about Imperil and Mage Lv310, but idk if that or the others are any good for melee styles.
I use Weaken when there's more than 7 enemies after I comboed the first 5 with Rending/Shatter or when I leave one enemy to recast buffs.
Confuse, Slow and Sleep sounds like one of those "cool but impractical" spells Final Fantasy is full of.

It's not like I don't believe in you, but I have 189 Supportive vs 20 Deprecating, and I farmed about 16 of that Deprecating. Maybe you are referring at the Imperil spam the mages do?

Sure, but just imperil. I use it at least on every SG. Makes killing them so much faster and with 1H the rest will go down just with counter attacks while you kill the SG. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

They still use it for SG arenas.
(9 months of SG arenas were enough to max depr prof btw)

Nope. I do the last arenas with a Power Melee, thus I spam Imperil against the schoolgirls.

Doing bounties. Having luck and dropping something fancy. Doing SGs everyday and selling trophies

Or you have such terrific gear that you don't need it.
I certainly do need a shitload of Sleep and Imperil to do the IW runs with 1H. Though it'll be less hard once I finish IWing my Leg 1H.
