I mean, what you choose depends on how many credits you want to invest.
Fire is by far the cheapest.
Let's take a look at the last auction.

If it were heimdall it would have probably fetched like 100M.
The idea is that you should think if you want to optimize for the best possible result (meaning that what it would be fastest in case of full peerless) or for the best bang of the buck.

For the best possible result it's probably something like:

Holy(*) > Wind >= Elec >= Dark(**) > Cold > Fire

Bang of the buck is:

Fire > Elec = Wind > Cold = Dark > Holy

(*) May not perform equally good imperil style (since no willow)
(**) Very versatile even if can be overshadowed by holy in no imperil and by elec/wind willow in imperil

Holy: best mage proc in the game but stupidly expensive
Dark: most versalite style, expensive, in particular for top equip
Elec: very strong due to Willow, probably best elem style for no imperil (procs adds 2+% of damage), a bit expensive for top equip
Wind: top equip for PFFest, similar price for elec
Cold: good proc but no willow, LARDs are stupidly expensive and even normal equips are not that cheap
Fire: staves aren't cheap (willow not having fire and cold makes redwoods more expensive) but the rest of equip can be dirty cheap even with good rolls

Regarding playing imperil won't it take longer for me to finish rounds ? If yes I don't want it

Depends how fast you are when casting imperil.
For sure with imperil style you normally needs less round.

Well I am thinking about PFFest and PF arenas but for now if I can clear hellfest in a short amount of time I will be happy. Well you know need to learn to walk first before running (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif)

PFFest is a bit nope for holy and dark unless you spend hundred of millions.
For elemental is much easier thanks to shorter cast time.

If it had overpower it could've been used in a dw set. Maybe you still can, but at lower difficulties - due to the lack of parry as well

yep. mainhand possibly. as for the offhand, the higher the (fatality + overpower) combo, the better

i 'd say get training Assimilator @ 3 level

don't get 10 level

i've regretted it ever since got 10 level of Assimilator

compared how many times your casting magic in a single battle you shall see 10 level of Assimilator is completely unnecessary

Would 10-20m spent on fire mage gear outperform similar investment on holy assuming neither use imperil? With less than 20m to spend holy would probably be giving up prefixes and struggling to find affordable gear while fire would have quite decent pieces - and with more money fire would probably have nicely forged gear before holy even gets geared (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)

I'm mostly interested in arena performance, but I guess clearing at least couple hundred rounds of hellfest if I happen to have extra time and energy would be doable.

I don't really mind if no imperil style is significantly weaker than imperil, as long as it is faster than my current 1h+power setup (which shouldn't be too hard considering how crappy my armors are...)

Yes, max 10% chance, even if you use GLT. That means using more than 10% of total tickets yourself is waste.

Only if the lottery contains more than 200000 tickets (meaning where you would need GLT to go over 10% chance).
If there are 100 tickets and you holds 20 you have 20% chance.

Finish your mage persona and start playing at low difficulty (I'd say start with Hard or Nightmare).
You will naturally gain cloth and spell prof.
Increase the spell level when you are confortable with the current difficulty.
Rinse and repeat.

(then you will have to grind staff prof, and grinding staff prof sucks so I would do that as late as possible)

It's possible, but fire has the highest average mitigation so I'm not sure how well it would work without imperil (possibly 3-4% worse than cold/wind/elec, which are already inferior to holy/dark).

For sure it would be faster than any melee, but unless you have very good reasons not to use imperil I would really recommend trying with imperil first.
Also at your level, and without investing a lot of credits in equipments, monsters would kick your ass if you don't use imperil (PFUDOR arenas would be pretty difficult).

I have add everything from staff and cloth armor what to do with (deprecating 1&2, Supportive 1&2, Elemental, Forbidden, Divine) I can't add everything so what to add and what not ? btw I am planning to play as holy mage

Staff: ALL but Staff Damage
Cloth: ALL
Divine: ALL
Depr1: Better and faster imperil
Depr2: Nothing, possibly drain + ether theft if you have nothing better
Supp1: ALL but Heartseeker and Absorb
Supp2: ALL
Rest: Nothing

If you have no mage gears you can't play mage.
And if you can't play mage you don't need mage proficiencies (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)
