I attempted to IW a staff I plan to use for a very long time, but the rng gods decided to laugh at me and throw in a upgrade I did not need/want at lvl 8
So the question is... Should I reforge this?

Very long time? Then I'd reforge. But you can also play this one for a couple of weeks, and then reforge when you have enough amnesias saved. No hurry, quite good.

I don't think so, rolls are good (in reality burden is kind of crap roll and will reduce evade) but Katalox is nowhere near as good as Willow, nobody_xxx tried to make a katalox of demon-fiend build with a lot of radiants.
Result: much higher magic score but 200 turns worse in Hellfest.

I'd have to soul-fuse to even be able to equip it, and then there's the fact that I don't own dark descent so I can't send it to a dark descent vendor for reforging once its soul bound.
So for an ideal staff, the best rolls in IW would be pen lvl.5 and spellweaver lvl.4?

I believe so. honestly id get the 9th and if its good, fuse it and use it. then if you dont find/nuy something better at 500 you can look at rerolling it then.

im using a 5-3-1 1h;, it wasn't worth trying to upgrade from 8 good potencies to 9

Pen5+Spe4 is best for PFUDORfest.
If you want best performance in PFUDOR arenas or Hellfest, Pen5+Arch4 may be better.

Didn't even notice this bit the first time around. Even if that particular shield was especially good, you are way off with your evaluation there.

Out of curiosity, I ran a quick SmartSearch on legendary str/dex/end force shields currently on the market and this is the result:
No way in hell are you going to find a 90% base block shield for just a few million. So adjust your sights accordingly.

anyways, I have told myself maging sucks and im never going to do it 5 months ago and i still havent changed my stance on it. currently im clearing PFfest in around 125-130 minutes if i don't die. my main source of income used to be the crystals since i have CRYST V but the prices of CP are dropping quick and i feel it is worth investing in monsters rather than selling them now.

clearing hellfest/nintenfest would yield me more artifacts in less time but i would be losing crystals and legendary/Highgrade mats drop chance. do you guys think it would be worth doing hellfest/ninfest over PFfest?

It really depends on your sales prices. Super's income comparison script is very usefull for evaluating this. It takes into account the costs of ED and repair, and then shows the net profit. You will probably find out that IWBTH-fest is more profitble than PFFest. And that the arena's are quite good. And that SG should be played on Nightmare.

It's advised to use Leather+2H until around level 200.

You can buy average equipment from the Bazaar that isn't level assigned, and look for a mace for the 2H weapon, as it stuns enemies and increases your survivability.

Then you just need to try and play on the hardest difficulty possible for you, buying new level unassigned equipment when you level up a lot and feel your equipment is getting outdated, like 10~20 levels.

When you get close to level 200, you can switch to 1H+Shield+Leather, as using a shield when you have 200 1H proficiency currently makes you very tanky, and your can stick with it until you get your 1H proficiency close to the max for your level.

After level 200, you can start looking around for heavy armor to switch from leather, as using a shield makes you tanky enough that you don't need to depend on evade anymore.

The ideal build for 1H is using a rapier + a force shield, which gives the highest possible block currently + full power armor, preferably of slaughter suffix, so you can have the highest damage possible.

Just bear in mind that finding specific equipment will be quite hard until around level 300, so just stick so self-dropped gear and take a look around the forum's WTS section, as some users offer services to help newbies out regarding equipment and potions.
