I didn't expect it'd save me much mana when I got it, but it actually did. I guess the turns spent on buff recasting/channelling add up. Mostly though it's convenient having less overhead. IW's smoother, only need to refresh Regen2 (and AF once @ round ~200-ish).
I guess it's the 15% less mana upkeep cost that makes the difference.

AW COME ON! I USED THE WRONG WEAPON ALL THIS TIME?! SERIOUSLY?!
Yes, even I know that estoc is better for higher difficulties. I can kill Bunko with 2-3 hits in hard, and I have way worse STR, overcharge, armor...almost everything than you.

Pirate Bird/Eila/Neptuna/Lise. Those are probably the 4 biggest threats to me right now

I just discovered that she dies like a rat when you hit her with darkness.
Another good thing for fenrir mage, which I haven't said before: all those dcherry mentions die really fast.
Which makes fenrir really good for arenas, in my opinion.

On normal difficulty + great status, spam Magic Missile for CM > Nerf > ~6 shot w/ Banish spam. Haven't really noticed the magic damage boost from Bewilder. I spam Soul Burst on Konata (if I get too many of these I'll regen on one). Usually though I'll chew through around 13 mana pots per run without stopping to ET (final round excepted).
Thanks for all who answered.
I'm using weaken+nerf only right now, and I plan to drop weaken since I have abundant SP right now.
I should be the first one to attempt EOD after 0.6.0 patch, and weaken+nerf is what I'm using at that time (with IA on SV+haste).
My experience tells me that as long as you have enough SP (SP tank or SP potion), you don't need to use slow/poison/blind. I haven't tried bewilder yet, so I'm not sure of its effect.
My reasoning is that as long as you're doing things properly, you should be able to kill a schoolgirl in 50 turns, so poison is not helping much (you only save 1 spirit attack from schoolgirls)
And at normal difficulty with weaken, regen II is enough to keep your HP full, so slow/blind is out.
And Ballistic9, I think it's better to use Storms of Njord against Konata instead of soul...?
No, I'm not sure. Need to try that today.
Edit: It's about the same with my oak staff of heimdall. Different staff may have different result though.
