I'm starting to think going a magic build isn't such a bad idea after all. Giants have been making fights a living hell, and it seems half of all custom monsters are just giants in disguise. Any recommendations for them?

If you're REALLY having trouble with them, Lightning infusions or bleed weapons can help. They have really low WIS, but their END makes magic take 2x to kill even supereffective.

The thing with using lightning infusions is that the giants are causing problems in arenas and grindfests, so even if I can take down a giant no problem, I'll end up doing crap damage to every other monster there that has lightning resistance. Plus, they're just everywhere, and I'll run out of creds trying to get a couple dozen infusions daily. I encounter on average, 2-3 giants per battle.
It's actually making me decide to play on normal mode again, just because giants are so annoying to kill.

This is my stat, equipments, and skills... how is it? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I'm confused about how to do my MP management, I need to cast shield every 12 turns, and regen/cure sometimes. any advice on doing MP management? also, should I change to Light Armor or stay in Heavy Armor? thanks! Since I'm getting access to Abilities every 20 levels now instead of 10, I now have some unspent Ability Points. So, I've got a few questions about abilities.
- Should I hold off putting points in Spark of Life until I feel like I can take on the Gods? - As a Dual Wield user, should I bother Flame Spikes/Freezing Limbs/Deep Burns/etc.? If so, which ones or all and why? - Realistically, is there a point in time where I should switch my EXP Booster points into Spirit Tank & Overcharge Boost so I can increase my Melee damage?
Also, on fighting Gods. Weaken or Silence? I tried to fight Real Life a while ago, and things went alright with using Weaken until I got hit with Internet Shutdown. I've honestly never used Silence on anything except for the Legendaries on Hard and even then I feel like using Weaken and tanking their magic attacks would have been easier.

QUOTE(blue12 @ Aug 16 2011, 04:59) This is my stat, equipments, and skills... how is it? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) As melee I'm going more and more to advice keeping WIS at same level like important stats, INT is the only one you should lag back but not more than 50 points. WIS gives you not only more base mana which is important for mana potions, it also gives you more mana regeneration during battle. Your Proficiencies are pretty low ATM especially the supportive prof, so upkeeping your shield spell is very expensive right now. You have to decide whether you keep leveling fast to gain more credits from daily arenas for affording all those mana potions and some day your prof might catch up. or you just go on leveling at cake which gives you also the chance of getting more drops. I don't know which is better at low level, light or heavy for melee. heavy gives you more mitigation on all three, slashing, crushing and piercing but it makes you due to the high burden also very slow. light armor has less mitigation but can have about the same absorption, it has less burden plus it gives you bonus on agility which both makes you faster compared to heavy armor. so it might be your decision. but your armor seems to have too less absorbtion. you have some credits, try to look at WTS section for some very cheap heavy. it is never bad to make a low bid on an item and not bother when getting outbid from someone else. your ability boost seems to be on low level. try to get it higher until lvl 37 which would cost you completely 150,000 and the next upgrade would cost about 10,000. Do your Arenas daily, they give you cheap credits at low and at high level. grindfest costs you stamina. If you have the funds, go until Lvl 37 Ability boost. that'd give you 40-50 overcharge bonus plus some more spirit points for spark of life. If you have all Ring of Blood finished once ad got the first clear bonus, don't bother to do them again until you get hold of Spirit Shield until Lvl 190. spark of life is until spirit shield only usefull in arenas. silence is the best option on gods, you still get high crits and damage but silence blocks the no special abilities which could oneshot you. IMO don't bother wasting your AP in spikes.

-Spark of Life is handy for fighting arenas on higher difficulties. If you have several scrolls of it, this is a moot point. -You probably don't need the spikes. I find that flame and frost spikes were slightly useful for helping against spirit attacks from Manbearpig, Dalek (both have fire spirit attacks) and Ryouko (ice spirit attack). Having at least one gives you a cheap supportive spell to grind that proficiency as well. -EXP Boosters don't have a huge effect, so if you think you need more damage/SP, it might be better to invest in them instead. Just get your 10 daily posts for extra exp. For the gods it's a bit of a crap shoot. Weaken + Bewilder will let you tank everything but their spirit attacks. As long as Bewilder is up, you can use a Scroll of Absorb once their spirit bar is full and you should be okay (the scroll version is 100% effective, and Bewilder will prevent crits which bypass the effect). Scrolls of the Gods have the same effect, but just last longer. Just make sure one of their regular magic attacks doesn't use up your scroll while their spirit bar is still full. With Silence you will take more average damage, but don't have to worry about being one shot, theoretically. You'll still have to watch out for crits. You can hold out on casting Silence or Bewilder until the spirit bar is full or almost full, but you have to make sure you don't forget to refresh them (Silence in particular since the spirit and mana bars will stay full).

Personally I feel the spikes shields don't affect things too much. OC boosts damage base on 1/3 of its current gauge, again, it's your decision: to level up faster or more damage. Constant silence is a must with RL, IPU and FSM, weaken is good if you have it. Try to do it on normal first. Given you are a DW, try double rapiers with fusions on IPU/FSM, also get your thrice-blessed/spirit-ward gears correspondingly. Unfortunately no fusion works against RL, there was a tactic using 2 high bleed axe for him, but I haven't tested it out. FYI, I normally use 2H but I would go DW with these 3 guys (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Why 37/50 on Ability Boost? I'm at 30/50 already. QUOTE(Cronauron @ Aug 16 2011, 01:17) -Spark of Life is handy for fighting arenas on higher difficulties. I have the least of the Life and Absorb scrolls, so I'm guessing those are the rarest. Unless I get a lot of them by then, I'll probably just go with the spells. As for the EXP Boosts, is the effect really not that big? I'd assume that since I've maxed them out so far, I'd get around +108% EXP. Unless (and I'm probably really slow for this, but it just dawned on me) it's a 1% per ability point and in total it's 3% in total for 3 points, in which case, it'd still be a 36% increase. Then again, there IS that topic there about the boosts not working... Guess I'll wait it out and see what happens. Anyways, thanks for the advice, you 3. I'll avoid the spikes shield abilities then.

Get your adept learner trained instead for the EXP boost.

30/50? we're talking about Ability Boost, that has for me 100 levels. because until 37/100 the total costs are about 150,000 credits. it's just a regard of cost-effectiveness. at those low levels in training you get more effect for less cost than on higher levels. at lvl 85/100 the next ability point would cost you about 100,000 credits. those credits are worth all AP 31/100 in ability boost together. I'm at 78/100 plus about 30 from artifacts. atm I have 16 spare AP which I don't need. If I could I'd take some of them away and spend those credits on something else but I can't. I tried to put on Light armor and I am using it ever since. I'd recommend Light at any time, from my point of view. Actually the only build I would use Heavy for is Onehanded+shield. Shield Plates + Tower shield of Barrier might be an awesome option. That way you might want your burden be as much as possible so mobs will strike you more often and you'll score counterhits more often aswell. But again, that is MY POV.\ P.S. Two-handed-style MUST be played in Light. This post has been edited by MiAla: Aug 16 2011, 15:25
