QUOTE(rawrboy @ Aug 5 2011, 10:12) So that means Legendary would give same exp as Grindfest? I'm confused ^^

QUOTE(bloodthirster18 @ Aug 5 2011, 10:02) This makes me sad. I am not able to one-shot mobs with my spells in cakefest. What could I be doing wrong, or is this sorta normal for a pure mage?
EDIT: I lasted for 78 rounds of cakefest before I ran out of pots and died. This just makes me feel more like I'm doing something wrong.
That doesn't sound right. I'm not even usually mage, my staff proficiency is less than 50, but when I decide to play around w/ magic I proc enough Ether Theft that I can finish off 100+ IWs (fine quality) at normal level without using a single mana pot. I only use Tier 1 fire and electric spells though with Banish mixed in whenever I get the channelling proc, maybe you're using Tier 2-3 spells and using up too much mana?

QUOTE(karururu @ Aug 5 2011, 11:37) I simply hope there is a third way. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) No need to keep using vase & gum, sorry, that is my fault. I think one vase & gum set is sufficient. Cum it at the nearly end, since the closer to dead FSM is, the more crazy damage it makes. Let Infusion of Divinity handle the rest. I'm very not sure whether taking Infusion alone can beat the mob. Maybe you can try this out. Oh, ok, I'll bring up 1Flower and 2bubber and kick the FSM's butt by using them when it nearly dead Do you remember how much HP does FSM have when u'r 110lv? And.. do you think 1Flower + 2bubber can kick out 1/5 hp of FSM?

Stats? Equipment? Gotta see how you managing to die in cake so early, and if you're doing cake in grindfest I advise you not to.

I've only been using tier 2 spells. I didn't even get all the tier 1 spells...I thought they were worthless. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Double post, but might help if I include this too. Arcane Focus is maxed out.

Personal views:
1. Agility and endurance is dangerously low. As a mage you still need speed and hp when you miss the targets.
2. Oak staff of heimdall is not for your level. Try to find some ebony staff of destruction/surtr.
3. Owl and preistess are pretty useless for you. Try to find elementalist/phase clothes.
4. You don't need elemental resistance now. Pull that 10 AP out and invest into haste and hp/mp tank. If you still have some cheap AP training, get some AP to fill your hp/mp tank.

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I'm not a mage so these are just my opinions. If you were equipped properly, tier1 spells which cost less mana can kill in easier difficulties, saving you mana. I thought most mages specialized in 1 or 2 type of damage. I don't think you having ability points spread out into every damage type as a good choice, spend some of those points in hp/mp tanks. Get a lot more endurance/agility. After that browse WTS forums and pick up a good "SET" of something. Theres so much phase/gossamer items being auction and sold in WTS forums daily.

He actually needs that many damage type, since mages need them to beat bosses with different weakness. As long as he doesn't pick ALL the tier 1 spells, it should be okay.

I'm guessing this is why I run out of mana? I always respec to the highest level spells of every type (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I was just about to ask if I need to max out all my tier 1 spells or not. Thinking about it right now, I rather not have any and use those ability points to max out my hp and mp tanks. But I guess that wouldn't help since I would still spend a lot on the tier 2 spells?

5 Different damage type seems a bit excessive for his level, 4 of them being elemental. For the most part he should be fine doing bosses with just Holy/Dark and 1 elemental right? @bloodthirster18 You really really need to up your proficiency in deprecating, supportive and curative. Mines are all 91-95 and I'm a level 128 melee. **Is it normal for mages to be twice the level of their armor's proficiency??

@rawrboy If you look at bloodthirster18's str/end then it's pretty telling why his prof is so low. He is a pure-bred mage, so much that the benefit from that huge int is neutered by his lack of other stats. As for dark, he doesn't get access to dark until lvl 150 @bloodthirster18 3 elements are usually all that is needed for comfortable killing. And then throw in that much needed holy and you have most of your bases covered (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) imo, versatility is important in the early levels. (variety of elements) once you hit higher levels you can aim for quality (specialization)

If you do what I do, and keep Haste+SVeil perma'd, then yes, it's very common. I'm >2x my cloth armor proficiency in level.

Ah you crazy ppl with the perks (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif), hmm bonus for cloth armor proficiency kinda sucks so not missing out on much anyways. How about your staff proficiency? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

QUOTE(DarkDespair5 @ Aug 5 2011, 16:22) Theres a couple elementalist staff with better stats then yours with buy prices of around 2k, so dunno if you'd be able to sell yours for much. Likewise with the other 2. Also a lot of people don't want to have to level up their equipment they buy unless its amazing so I think bazaar is better place for them, but it never hurts to try WTS forum.
