I've got a question, is maging still l33t, or did Tenb nerf mages? Feels like it's harder to mage atm, though it could be the same for melee...

There have been a lot of changes to try to balance out melee and mage, but mage is still overwhelmingly powerful for high end players. It would be easier to just read the release threads than try to list all of the changes.

Mages basically got an immediate nerf due to ratings no longer giving a damage bonus and equipment proficiencies now give very specific bonuses rather than boosting all stats across your equipment.

In return, newly dropped phases now have higher base EDB, so that seems to be the route all mages are aiming for to become strong again. If you're wearing old EDB phase, that might be why you're feeling weak. Any new EDB phase is basically guaranteed to be better than old EDB phase (except the most extreme case, where the weakest new EDB phase is on the same level as the best old EDB phase)

Hi. I apologize in advance if I messed something up but I'm an utter newbie as far as posting here goes.

I wanted to ask for any useful tips and remarks anyone may have concerning what can be seen below. Style-wise I play full physical, packing the heaviest armor I can find and high dmg. 1H weapons /high block shields with little use of magic except for cure and the occasional weaken. It generally works, as long I can hit the target and have a bit of MP left to heal but as levels progress I find myself pushed into corners more and more often ...
Any abilities I should get or equipment I should hunt for ? What about primary attribute allocation ?
Whatever comes to your minds will be greatly appreciated.

thx

Does Scavenger affect the powerup gems drop chance?

No. Gems work differently from item drops.

I dont get it.
I killed Ryouko Asakura, barely, but I did it. I wiped Konata like she was no problem at all. But Yuki just keeps nailing me every damn time:
Data Rewrite hits you for 3627 dark damage.
Meh. Does this mean I have to keep spark uptime @ 100% of the time? That sort of sucks =\
Also Yuki is said to be resistant to slashing/piercing and vulnerable to crushing. I picked up my Stun poke stick and... I hit her for 90-100 damage all the time? Does this mean that slashing-based Katana would hit her for 50 damage or less?

From what I heard, Konata is the easiest one among the four ladies. For Yuki, maybe you should use some infusions if you have not done so.

Konata is the weakest of the Legendary monsters by far, though even on normal surely a crit from her magic/spirit should have killed you in 1 shot.

But anyway, after that all the monsters in RoB will easily 1 shot you so you need to fight in some way that prevents that.

If you want to melee, I'd advise DW with a good stun club with either a good shortsword bleeder or good rapier.
I kept silence going with infusions and whacked away.

How do I clear End of Days on normal without running out of mana items? I really don't know how to do it.

I assume you have the hath auras and skilled Wisdom.
Do you use supportive spells a lot? If you don't really need them, save the mana for regen and heal.
How many item sluts do you have?

Aren't you maging already? It should be easy, use magic missile and hit to get ET, then magic missile to try to get channeling to recast the buffs/defuffs, the rest of mana use to cast the spells

Other way and very simple way, is to get a mace like this and use full set of earth-walker pieces like this. With haste on IA(nothing more on it), and Heartseeker it's a permanent stun on the legendary, you just need to hit, hit, hit.
Cast spark on the beginning of the round just in case before they're stunned, and regen when you need.
Lazy and long, but extremely effective.

You don't need a Eth, just a little faster with it, the important is the proc being 4 turns and above 25% chance.

I found the conversation about Cure > Regen to be quite amusing. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Oh come on hito, not everyone has scaling memorized (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) . Until I level and get more curative proficiency, Regen is 100% useless to me even as a channel. Shield and Haste prevent *FAR* more damage for me.

I upgraded to these items:

[L330] Exquisite Redwood Staff of the Owl (Staff - Staff)
[L122] Fine Gossamer Pants of the Elementalist (Legs - Cloth armor)
[L50] Average Gossamer Shoes of the Elementalist (Feet - Cloth armor)
[L69] Fine Gossamer Cap of the Fox (Helm - Cloth armor)
[L328] Fine Gossamer Robe of the Fox (Body - Cloth armor)

Still having issues staying alive vs longer arenas (unless i go completely nuts and use scrolls). Damage is still awesome. 1 to 2 hit everything except Manthras or elemental type original monsters.

I beat Konata but was scared shitless of getting massacred by a crit SA and missing out on the nice cash bonus. Popped a Bubblegum, Avatar/God scroll and 1 average manapot to kill him. Is this overkill with my current setup? Do I need better gloves and shoes?

You shouldn't be content with shield and haste only to prevent damage.
Once you get pass level 100, you will need to play on higher difficulty in order to gain enough exp for leveling.
And shield won't help you in those situations.

Also, when you go pass level 100, you'll face more powerful custom monsters. You'll have no time to cast cure before they slam tons of damage on you.

Just imagine there's monsters which can take away half of your max hp in one normal hit....I still don't know how I can endure that (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

About your equipment, I can't give any opinion before you fix your links.

And talking about custom monsters, I want to roast that pirate bird!
