QUOTE(coredumperror @ May 9 2011, 02:15) This is just a guess based on my own experience in high level arenas, but he probably does quite a lot of staff smacking in Schoolgirl Marathons (End of Days and up). You need to get a lot of ET procs to maintain your mana for hundreds of rounds of battles against Legendaries.
I figured as much. I guess I'll just wait till I start the legendary slogs before I start worrying about it.

what level should I be to take on real life? I just tried my luck, but even with a flower vase, my soul attack did like 500 damage to its 200k+ HP.

So, I haven't played in a while and a shitload of changes have taken place. I have found to my horror that Blue Slimes now have resistance to Fire and that there are a shitload of new 'created' monsters.
Is Elec / Fire still the way to go or should I be switching up my abilities?

Depends on your equipment.

A soul attack is really only worth using against Real Life when combined with Penetrated Armor, Flower Vase, and Bubble Gum. As for what level you should be... it really depends on your gear. I killed Real Life at lvl 102, but I had a really powerful bleed axe at the time, which whittled his HP down slowly while I dealt with staying alive.

You need to physically hit an enemy that has Coalesced Mana with your staff in order to trigger Ether Theft so that you can replenish your MP, which is necessary for mages trying to get through prolonged battle sessions. As a byproduct of this, your staff proficiency may increase because you're using it as a melee weapon when you're attempting to proc Ether Theft. This post has been edited by n125: May 10 2011, 11:10

I'd max 2 tier 1 spells before starting on tier 2 spells. I'd also stick to investing in 2 complementary elements for the time being (elec+fire or fire+cold from the looks of it). Though with all the custom mobs now, perhaps put 1 point into the highest tier cold/wind spell you have.

hey there experts, casual player, no h@h, just hit lvl 40. Played for bit a long time ago, but everything's changed. Didn't really start til lvl 24, so my profs are lagging. Montages also disappeared the day i started using support spells. That took me awhile to prof up. It's a bit sick that m support went up to near 24, and in that time my staff has gone up 7 pts. Advice would be appreciated, I'll do a reset after some grinding. [ imageshack.us] (IMG:[img155.imageshack.us] http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/378/capturerxj.th.jpg) Y/G/I auras and some questions: How useful is holy element? How many points in poison/weaken/haste would be recommended? I've been rolling with 1 pt in poison (get about 20 turns) and maxed weaken (get about 15 turns). The increase in duration for weaken was not much from base, is it any different for poison? Gear varies, but is mostly (gossamer), w/ one piece of light armor if i need extra absorb. 24-29 burden. Interference negligible. Best I can do for evade is 17%, but generally it's around 11-14%. When i wear as many elementalist pieces as possible (get about +30 elemental) it doesn't seem to kill things any more efficiently than if i wear just my hat (+5) (not counting resists of course). I had full points in fire rating, none in other elemental ratings, but it seems to not really make a difference either. If i cast inferno at 7 mobs, ie, it kills green slime, kills tentacle monster, and leaves cookie monster, scary ghost, and whoever else near dead and agitated. Seems to always be the case in later rounds of arena. Is this just how it is, or what can i do about it. Should i focus on int instead? As to the next couple levels, where to put my ability points?

It increases dropped equipment's stats by 1% per rank. Edit: Not quite that but similar. It increases loot QUALITY by 1%.This post has been edited by Maximum_Joe: May 12 2011, 15:54

Thunderstorm should suffice for most situations on Cake to Normal difficulties. The only times I break out Chain Lightning are when I'm fighting Dalek, arena-Manthra, or when I'm in arena rounds where there are Uncommon monsters alongside many normal monsters. I have Tier 1 Fire maxed as well so when I notice that I'm up against many enemies that are weak to Fire or are resistant to Electric, I'll use Inferno instead. QUOTE(sonikku2009 @ May 11 2011, 18:46) ...okay, I'm starting to get annoyed at this to the point where I'm attacking the tower (where the hard drive for the computer is) out of anger. I've lost the last TWO arena battles consecutively because of single attacks that are hitting me for upwards of 100 damage. And they aren't even critical hits or agitation. So I'm starting to think I've done something wrong.
Basic overview of stats in attachments below. (I've started to go mage, but I'm meleeing in the arena while I get my staff and element up. Light armor despite the class.)
If you're getting hit for 100+ it's either skills (Horrible Rape, Toddlerguro, Squirt, Jiggle, Bouip) or custom giants. Custom giants are easy to handle conceptually, Weaken and beat down (they still hit like trucks and take ages to kill). Normal monsters can't use their devastating specials without 50% MP or spirit, so know when they have the MP to screw you and make sure you've got the health to live through it. Or murder their face off, though you risk an agitated special (read as: 300+ from Toddlerguro). A lot of the advice I'd give you doesn't apply if you're moving to mage as soon as you can spam Meteor anyway. Putting stats towards STR/DEX/AGI/END and getting better light armor (by which I mean high evade, not absorb) doesn't make any sense if you aren't going to stay a melee. One rather counterintuitive thing to try: play the lower arenas on Hard for a bit. I'm serious. With enemies that you can't 2-shot, you'll play more cautiously and prioritize the stuff that can actually kill you, because they will kill you if you don't. Or you might throw your computer through a window. Your mileage may vary, take this advice with a large grain of salt. This post has been edited by PK678353: May 12 2011, 10:07

QUOTE(centaur @ May 12 2011, 15:36) anything i should try to upgrade or change is this gear ok
what flower vase does just got one should i sell?
Everyone always want to upgrade their gears, and you still have a lot of room to do it. So yes, you should try to upgrade. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Flower vase is like marine's stimpack in SC. You probably don't need it at this time and can sell it (to bazaar) for a bit of cash, you probably need it right now...

Unfortunately no one knows exactly how the quality bonus works, other than a higher bonus giving better drops (on average). QUOTE(Maximum_Joe @ May 11 2011, 23:48) It increases dropped equipment's stats by 1% per rank.
This is one thing it definitely doesn't do. Please stop answering questions when you don't know the answer.
