I could give a mace a try, see how much better that goes for me over this weapon. I haven't used anything aside from swords (both 1H and 2H) since I started. X3 QUOTE(FLCLocust @ May 5 2011, 04:52) 140 overcharge give me 70% to meleedmg. 100 overcharge give u 50% dmg. i dont know, since i decided to dont lvlup hp/mp tank, i should to spend my abilitypoints. dunno but i think that overcharge pretty usefull...
Oh wow, I didn't know the overcharge gave you a boost to your attack damage. That's useful information to know. I may have to consider moving my AP again. (Though I'm already moving them enough. Reset's getting expensive now. X_X)

QUOTE(PK678353 @ May 5 2011, 07:44) Define viable. You can certainly play without magic, but not at anything that could be called a high level. Cure is essential, Weaken is essential. If nothing else, Cure lets you turn MP regen into HP regen.
While base item stats are important, give us links next time (or both). The base stats script ignores proc % and number of turns, since % is static and number of turns is nearly impossible to scale. They're also important. I might tell you to pair up two of those shortswords to proc bleed more often, but I have no idea which has good bleed %. I'd recommend finding an axe with solid bleed stats and whatever you feel you lack for the off hand if you plan on using DW.
Thanks for the help. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) In regards to magic, I was thinking about statwise, not utility wise. I'm still pumping points into cure/regen/weaken/haste/slow...etc - just not any into int or much into wisdom. I'm hoping that won't set me up for disaster later when I find out I actually need magic to kill some uber monster or that a few more points into magic = a much more powerful heal/haste =P Equipment wise, here are the links: Fair club of slaughterFair shortsword of balanceAverage shortsword of balanceFair longsword of slaughterCrude scythe of the bansheeI've been doing some grinds and I've found the fair longsword is a bit better. The proc for bleed is just too good especially with domino =) On the other hand, I miss noticeably with duel wielding the club and fair shortsword. The bonus to evade is nice too...just not nice enough to make up for the huge bleed and crowd clearing abilities of the longsword... Edit: Also I has a trophy...should I turn it in now or later? As a melee you can let INT slide, but you shouldn't neglect WIS too much because it feeds directly into your MP, and you need a lot of MP in this game. The power of Curative spells is based on your Curative proficiency and your base HP. The Cure family of spells is also affected by your Holy Rating, but not sufficiently enough to make it a priority. The duration of Supportive and Deprecating spells is affected by your Supportive and Deprecating proficiencies, as well as how much AP you've sunk into them. Proficiencies also affect the effectiveness of some Supportive and Deprecating spells. So in short: Keep your proficiencies high. A strategy I like to use is when I'm down to the last enemy of an arena (and I make sure it's an easy enemy), I drain my MP by spamming Weaken, Shield, and/or Cure just to raise proficiencies. Between doing that and just using the spells normally, I've been able to maintain my magic proficiencies within about 10 points of my level. As for trophies, it's up to you. Any good item you get now will have to be leveled a lot eventually. Your Luck of the Draw is also low, and I think that has an effect on Shrine items, but I could be wrong. On the other hand, you can turn in trophies for staffs, two-handed weapons, or heavy armor, and sell them for 100-300 Credits. Every bit helps at low levels, especially if you aren't making Hath on the side and/or haven't donated to the site. This post has been edited by n125: May 6 2011, 05:30

Hello there. I'm new in town (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/blush.gif) Ive been playing the game for a couple of weeks now. And I see on this thread that people get real far in the grindfest that are the same or even lover level than I am. So I wonder what am I doing wrong here? I only get to about ~20 on normal by using 4 Greater Health pots and 1 Average or Greater mana pot. My record is 24, I got a lot of mystic, mana and health gems that time. Should I go for the newest spells I have available? Is it that most of my equipment is way over my lvl? All of my equipment is Thunder-child because I already had two items and decided to get the full set in hopes of getting higher damage and maybe more survivability. It doesn't seem to have made any difference at all though. Also what affects the spells mana cost? I had the thunder storm cost 2 and cure cost 5, but it recently increased to 3 and 7 (I suspect that my max mana is to blame as it happened when I was working on my magic tank) How does the item shop work? What makes the prices go up and down? Is it global for everyone and gets its stock from players selling unwanted items or is it unique for everyone? How do you make item links? So I don't have to print screen my equipment if more questions about it arise. Sorry for all the questions and thanks for help.

Ditch the thunder-child equipment they are worthless. You need phase/elementalist/fox gear in that order. At your level it would be easiest to go for fox gear at first also keep your stats balanced in the beginning and then concentrate on int/wis/end when you get to like lvl 60 or so. Weaken is 1 of the most essential spell in the game so get that early. But to be honest i wouldnt recommend going mage yet its so much easier for you if you go with melee+heavy. Use your mouse to hover over the equipment and press c QUOTE(sares @ May 6 2011, 21:32) How does the item shop work? What makes the prices go up and down? Is it global for everyone and gets its stock from players selling unwanted items or is it unique for everyone?
The prices going up or down depends on if TB wanna change them or not, if not the price stays like they are unless you buy certain hath perks which will lower the cost. The item shop is global and sells whatever the player sells. Also read this http://ehwiki.org/wiki/Category:HentaiVerseThis post has been edited by Eutopia: May 6 2011, 21:56

I finally reached level 80 and I have some new options that I've been mulling over for a while now: X-Item and Blind; are they worth it?

X-item - YES Blind - very good vs legendaries/gods in combination with SV

Power Flux complete! Chain Lightning and Inferno are so awesome. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) QUOTE(Eutopia @ May 6 2011, 16:12) X-item - YES Blind - very good vs legendaries/gods in combination with SV
Thanks. I'll be sure to pick both up as soon a possible. I'm still not really sure I understand how skills like X-Item and X-Attack work. Do they just make you faster when performing those actions?

It simple means you waste less time to use an item, which is very useful if it means you can use an item while still having enough time to perform a second action without any of your enemies attacking you.

Also, Blind isn't just useful against legendaries. I use it against every boss-level or higher monster I encounter, because it dramatically reduces their total damage output over time (giving regen more time to make up for the damage they deal). It also gives you a much higher chance to survive a boss+ monster's Spirit Attack, which is often enough to one-shot you, if it lands.

X-item & Blind are useful. Mark mark. What are the important stats for a good staff?

QUOTE(foolboy @ May 6 2011, 21:54) What are the important stats for a good staff? Magic Damage Multiplier Elemental Damage Bonus for Elec and/or Fire on Ebony staffs (or Holy/dark on Katalox) Elemental or Divine/Forbidden Proficiency Ether Theft: 40% for 3 turns is the best you can usually hope for, but 30% for 2 turns is "good enough" (imo) Magic Accuracy Bonus (this is higher priority if you're lower level, as it's much more important when you have low INT/WIS)

Thanks. That explains why Ebony and Katalox are so favored. I understand Fire/Elec is a favored combo right now since very few monsters resist both and they have lower level requirements than Cold/Wind. Is there any reason why Cold/Wind wouldn't work just as well, especially given that everyone and their dog seem to be throwing as many Lightning crystals at their monsters as they can?

Quick experience is good for leveling, but you need to keep an eye on your proficiencies. Supposedly, 1/2 your level in prof is good enough at lower levels, so if you're gaining experience too fast, you may find your profs lagging behind too much. Aside from that, I would personally suggest raising the item drop rate a little and get a few spare ability points. You're a melee, so spirit tank and overcharge would be good, as the overcharge enhances your physical attack power. At the base 100% overcharge, your attack power is improved by 50%, so use that as a rough guide. Though I wouldn't let your HP and MP drop too much if you decide to go for those. Power does you nothing if you can't hit your target, and you need some way to maintain survivability at these lower levels. Take my advice with a grain of salt; I'm as new to this as you are given our levels as of my post.

I believe the only other combo besides Elec/Fire that I've heard of actually being used is Wind/Elec, since the Wind debuff reduces Elec resist and explodes when hit with Elec magic. But Cold/Wind could work, though I've never tried. Even with resistances on customs, I don't find myself having any issues. The stronly Elec-resistant mobs are super weak to Fire, and visa-versa.

I'm accumulating hath faster than I had hoped, but still VERRRRRYYYY slowly.
Am I better off simply selling off my hath and investing the cash in various things (suggestions on what, specifically, would be appreciated) right now, and focusing on getting hath later?

Much appreciated. Now I know what to look for in a staff. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

That really depends on what you want out of the HV. I've found that having the Innate Arcana perks and the Spectral auras (White, Black, Rainbow) makes a really big difference in your character's power, especially at lower levels. However, it is cheaper to buy good gear to make your character stronger. So you can sacrifice some Hath now for a boost in power, or save up more for a stronger boost later.
