QUOTE(PommyN64 @ Mar 2 2011, 22:42) Why do offensive equips that aren't staffs seem to continue to sell high if the usual expectation is that people switch to maging by a certain level? Do some people stay Melee through and through? Does it get ANY easier for Melee people?
They don't? Not comparatively at least. Discounting Eths which sometimes sell fairly high, pretty much all other weapons, including rares, sell for a small fraction of what even mediocre or below average maging gear goes for. The currently running auctions prove my point. This post has been edited by Conquest101: Mar 3 2011, 09:11

@ PommyN64
- "Offensive equips" for mage are not limit to weapons. In fact, most of the time its all about offense for the whole armor slot. And those thing are, indeed, usually sold for higher price than melee "offensive equips" (ie: weapons)
- Since most high LV players are mage, they don't "produced" melee stuffs, and that's make the availability for good melee gears low. Also, people tend to collect melee gear because of these very reason, and that made the whole situation worse for melee.
- Some people still melee, most of these doing it as a hobby, few still kept it as their profession.
- Its easier when you reach LV. 70 ... Regen is nice. And at 90 for X-Attack... and its all downhill after that. Still not as easy as mage, I think. Problem is that you need a pretty darn good gear, just to be decent at melee, and it's fucking slow...
EDIT: Ninja'd

Guess I better keep pumping away in preparation for 80 or so... I've stopped putting EXP into STR at all, focusing mainly on DEX (for Accuracy, and since it still increases Atk Rating 3 out of 4 times) and END (Shield/Barrier + HP), with light dabblings in WIS and AGI as needed. I guess soon enough I'll have to finally bring INT to a level higher than 0...

I jumped ship @ Lv35. I remember 'cause my 2H prof is a flat 35.00. Haven't looked back at melee since.
Though I do have a fear that it will bite me in the ass when I start fighting Gods or get into the post-Lv100 arenas.

Is there a list of what are the minimum/maximum base stats for dropped equips? Like for example, what is the min/max base proficiency bonus on an elemental robe, etc?
Quite often I hear a few numbers here and there of the min/max possible stats. Do you guys just estimate, or are those concrete numbers? And if so, where the heck did you get them?

I was wondering if it is worthwhile to amass some resistance equipment for boss/legendary monsters rights in the ring of blood?
I am almost 35 and was wondering if I should start saving those types of equipments for when I have to fight the initial 4 bosses, or is there a better way to fight them?

You only need special setup (mit gear) for IPU and FSM. Others can be fought with your usual gear.

I am going to try and tough it out like a real man and keep melee'n like my life depended on it. Trying to level up 2h and dw at the same time is kind of a pain.

The shrine. How exactly does it work? I got my first trophy off Dalek, and went to the shrine expecting powerful equipment. All I got was leggings of "fine" quality. I've been getting fine quality drops from regular mobs, so that's not much of an improvement.
Apparently, equip quality from snowflake increases as i gain favor, but how do i do that? Karma?

It's random. Nothing improves the shrine rewards, not even LotD. Better trophies can give better equipment, but don't count on it.

I see. The EHWiki claims that "depending on your favor with the Goddess, the type and rarity of the offering, and (primarily) her mood, you will receive various blessings in return", so i was wondering what this favor thing is about. 1 more noobie question: how do i get artifacts? Are they ultra rare drops from common mobs?

It also depend on how the stars and planets aligned at the moment you click the mouse. Artifact? It drops from virtually any monster, just keep killing.

The favor and mood are more of an inside joke, judging from the "Shrine Offerings" thread where one day people will be getting Quintessence crystals like nobody's business, and the next everyone's being soaked in AP and Stat increases. Regarding your question: Yes, they're very very rare drops from enemies. Raising Archaeologist through Training will help your rate, but don't expect a huge leap.

IIRC, that bit about the Shrine is actually copied verbatim from Tenboro's patch notes.

Do you have Weaken? You should have Weaken.
*checks Abilities page*
Yes, you should have Weaken. Go max Weaken. Use it on hard-hitting enemies, then knock out the others.
What's that? You maxed Weaken already? Go hit 40 and then max out Haste. I assume you already have Cure.
What's that? You maxed out Haste and it's still not helping? STOP ASSUMING THE FUTURE.

A question about ethereals - I was under the impression that ethereals didn't drop under a certain quality threshold, and specifically this last patch reduced the lower drop threshold to the 'fine' quality rank. Since then however, i got this drop - Average Ethereal Longsword of Balance - and was wondering if anyone else has seen average or lower ethereals popping up?
