Since you've already seen a boss monster, you've got an idea about what to expect from them.

They hit much harder than normal mobs, and they have special attacks which can kill you in one shot if you aren't careful (in Item Worlds, unless you find one on a much later round, their special attacks might not kill you in one shot, but it is better to be safe than sorry).

You should not worry about facing a boss yet until you get to the Ring of Blood.

Once you get there, we can discuss that at that point in time,

I don't find that the bosses from the IW, arena's and the RoB are that much different. Well the IW and Grindfest versions start of weaker, but their hp seems the same for me

If you consider the fact that round bonus is capped at 500, the 500 extra loot quality is pretty significant.

Yes, their HP is the same. I was saying that because they might be hitting for less when you face them in a Grindfest or Item World (before Round 50).

something lighter like kevlars and some evade silk would make a lot of difference

I would use long swords or katana's for now

sleep is ok, but too mp consuming if you are not a mage.
confuse is not that good, because it's unreliable

confuse is not that good, because it's unreliable


ah awright guess that pair of superior silk pants of the cheetah and the pair of fine silk gloves of the fleet I picked up from manbearpig will get some use after all

What does the prof bonus on a piece of equipment mean? Say I have +11 fire bonus. As a mage does this number help me with a fire spell, or does it help protect me against fire attacks? TIA.

There is no Profiency Bonus for Fire. You have to look if it is "Damage Type Mitigation" or "Elemental Damage Bonus".

How works damage reduction via armor?

lets say monster would hit 100dmg and from gear char have 5% mitigation and 30 absorption
wich one work first?
its:
100*[1-0,05]-30 = 65dmg
or
[100-30]*[1-0,05] = 66,5dmg?

Concerning the classic transition to being a mage, I read that levels 50/80/100 would make the most sense because of the powerful spells you can then access.
Do you guys reset your abilities every few tiers to get your points into those new spells or do you stick to two types of damage and keep the lower tiers for the 10% increase?

I kept my lower tiers, and they see plenty of use. Tier 2 AoE in arena, and tier 1 AoE in IW mostly. I do change to tier 2 AoE in IW once I reach high enough rounds where shield and regen can no longer keep up with damage.

I'm focusing on all Tank at the moment regardless of spell availability, and probably will continue that way until I finally decide to make the switch - all the points I'd put in MP Tank are in EXP boost currently to help expedite the process.

However, I think I'm going to tough it out until I open up the last set of spells that are used most frequently, and then do the switch ALL AT ONCE in order to preserve credits. It's only gonna cost 163 C this 2nd time, but I can only imagine what it's gonna be if I try to do it again after.

Of course, training Ability Points helps wonders with this too.

Ok, I need some feedback guys, I've just turned mage at lvl 135. I'm now at 138 and I'm still not sure if I'm doing everything right.

So if it's not too much of a bother, look through my stats and any advice will be met with karma and cake*

Here are my stats:

I'm currently in the process of maxing out my staff and elemental prof.
After that I'll tackle Dep/Supp/Cur and finally I'll raise holy (eventually I'll need it against bosses I figure)

These are my abilities:

I hear Poison has been nerfed, or something? So I got rid of that and I also invested some points in Holy (will get the ratings up when I have AP to spare as well)

Average Gossamer Cap of The Elementalist
Fine Silk Robe of The Raccoon
Average Gossamer Gloves of The Elementalist
Average Gossamer Pants of The Elementalist
Average Gossamer Shoes of The Elementalist
Haven't gotten a decent Elementalist robe yet, so I'm sticking with my best silk robe for the moment.

It's pretty ok, I think. I've got some decent equip I think.

Also, I have Haste and Shadow Veil set on Innate arcana and for now I use shield scrolls, saving up for IA upgrade atm.


I figure I'm doing pretty good (at least better than I was when I was meleeing, but still I've got some gripes about it.
When I'm on harder difficulties (IWBTH or BT most prominently) I lose HP so fast, that not even my Haste+SV+Shield+Regen can keep up with the damage. And I don't mean it drains away slowly, I mean I have to use Cure II every 5-10 turns ffs. I run out of mana and pots so fast it's not even funny. And Ether theft rarely works. It's at 36% - 2 turns on paper, but I find myself whaling at a mob for 5+ times and eventually losing CM altogether, recasting a spell, repeat ad infinitum.
I don't know, just a few gripes, nothing major. Perhaps I'm still doing something wrong?
