Is this based on your personal experience or theory? I am currently playing 1H Shade and it's not as bad as the discussions in this thread makes it out to be. I believe it's the counter attack while in Spirit Stance that maintains the near perpetual Overcharge conditions, I play a lot of IW at IWBTH and by about the 15th round, the mob is comprised of 8 or 9 of the upper third tier monsters. In such conditions, I can maintain Overcharge for at least 5 or 6 rounds or about 10 rounds if I don't use Fus Ro Dah at all. Sometimes I would use FRD just so that I can slip out of the Overcharge so that I can use Focus to recover Mana.
As for the issue of 1H Shade being slower than 1H Power, I am not so sure. My Shades are not anything special, neither are the Power (non-slaughter) equipment I've been acquiring and when I compare at the ADB numbers between the two types of armour, the ADB values on the Power equipments are higher but not all that significantly higher. If I had a weapon that had a significantly higher ADB than this
Rapier, I think I might be able to battle in the 1st two SG levels at PFUDOR, TT&T wasn't much of a problem even with my current weapon the last time I played it.
There is advantage and disadvantage using 1H + Power and 1H + Shade Armor here are some of them (from my experience) :
1H+Power Advantages :
1.Killing faster, especially with very high attack power boost from 1 set of Power Armor (Use Slaughter Rapier+Shield)
2.Killing/Wipes all the mobs before the monster can retaliate
3.Monsters that retaliate can be counterattacked, HARD with stun additional chance.
[ You can FULLY maximize your Physical Defense (Protection Armor), Physical Attack(Slaughter),
Max your BLOCK chance (exclusive to SHIELDING PLATE Armor)
4.+atk crit chance and +atk crit damage on default
5.ATK POWER +++, so you can spam your Area of Attack to wipe all the monsters (using FDR for example, or Cannon)
Very high durability because of these stats :
:: Physical DEF, Block chance, Parry chance
5.If you are rich, you can always use
Featherweight shard to mitigate the Burden/Interference load.
6.Very effective and efficient in lower level Dungeon/Arenas, where monster's HP is rather small, not so often magic/special attack.
Disadvantages :
1.Eventhough Hit Hard, you also got HIT hard. ( lower evasion, and a bit lower physical defense, except you use POWER Protection or you are VERY RICH to upgrade the physical defense all the way to maximum )
2.If you use Spirit Shield, your Spirit will be drained a LOT, especially facing Higher level Dungeon/Arenas, especially PFUDOR and IWBTH.
3.If you don't use Featherweight shard, your Burden/Interference will be very high, got added if you don't use Ethereal Weapons, it impacts into your Mana conservation (Increases spell costs by 0.5%.) and your Battle Performance ( BURDEN )
Reduces evade by 4/3%, capped at 75.
If burden > 40, decreases melee attack speed bonuses, capped at fully eliminating any bonus at 90.
If burden > 70, decreases physical crit rate by 2%, capped at 120.
)
1H+Shade Advantages :
1.Evade, evade, parry/block, evade, and/or parry,parry, block/evade and counterattack. (Use Nimble Rapier+Shield).
2.Lower mana consumption, lower mana potion consumption and higher survivability.
3.Lower Burden means you can FULLY maximize your Evasion(of Fleet), Melee Attack Speed Bonus(Agile Shade), and Physical Critical Rate (ShadowDancer) or lower Interference/higher Magic Mit/Acc (Arcanist)
4.Very High Survivability due to these very high stats :
:: Evasion Rate (can as high as 75-80%), block chance, and parry chance.
5.Shade Armor is generally cheaper than Power Armor
6.No need to spend Featherweight Shard, except for lower Interference stat.
Disadvantages :
1.Killing slower averagely, especially in PFUDOR/IWBTH.
2.Lower Defense, when you're hit, you will got hit HARDER than Power of Protection.
3.Lower attack power, except if you ARE very RICH, you can always add additional firepower into shade armor.
Ok. Feel free to add or argue (IMG:[
