DW light should be the easiest way.
DW with power slaughter is faster, but slightly harder.

How much would I need to upgrade my gear to be able to complete Hellfest? Currently I think I can only get to about 450 and it takes quite a while.

I've tried to take Varst's advice and have been upgrading/forging/IWing my gear:
My staff My cap My Robe My gloves
My Pants My Shoes
My cap EDB ExMAX
My robe EDB Ex range (Charged and Juggernaut 5)
My gloves EDB ExMax
My Pants EDB MMAX but no Agility pab. (Juggernaut 5)
My Shoes EDB Mag range

Its seems hard to find gear with mag max EDB, loads with ExMax, and quite a few falsely advertised as MMax. Legend max seems super rare.

New patch gear or old gear? Whats the advantage of losing a chunk of parry for a boost in resist? Is it worthwhile? Also did they buff the other stats for the new gear, so far I am seeing new gear with slighly higher ranges for the other stats but I am not sure. However there are a lot of new phase with shitty PAB rolls.

For me with my current gear, I calculated the damage perks to be worth about 50 EDB per 10%. To fully forge EDB on my current gear would cost around 50m, and I would probably give me about +100 EDB. So its still worthwhile to forge to some extent before progressing with the DD perks.

Wow, at your level and with great equipment you still can't beat it. Guess I've got a ways to go

i'm saving up for a rapier, but it's going to take a while to save up for a decent one.

so between This Demonic Exq Rapier and This Mag Shocking Axe, which one should i use?

Really wanted a good ethereal rapier to mainhand since I've got (what I think) is a ridiculous wakizashi for offhand, so I ended up buying this for $600k.

Think it was a pretty good deal and rather happy with it. Along with my heavy plate set and the insane speed/accuracy bonuses from the waki I can battletoads 100 rounds no problem now which is nice.

May be safe, but can be rather slow. Next investment is going to be a better waki.

Need to train up on Assimilator past 3/10 then because I have no 1H proficiency at all. If I paired the rapier with a quality force shield think it would be possible to switch from plate back to power with roughly the same safety? Right now it's fine going against 6-7 in a mob without getting below 1/3 HP most of the time and is really tolerable. Not until it gets up to 8 per mob or so does it get necessary to throw health potions on.

Yes, heavy player.

It is because those two weapons are both having really low ADB. And that's the reason I put them in auction.

I buy what I can afford. Though I'll admit I've spent a lot more on my armor than on my weapons. They were both a notable upgrade to anything I had previously. Of course, a better weapon typically sells for 1m+, which I can't afford.

Personally, I go with 2h Mace & infusions for schoolgirls. Just focus on the schoolgirl & let splash damage take care of the other monsters.

Oh wow, snagged a decent mithril tower shield and threw on my power set and do like! Feels faster than 2H with the wakizashi and damage is comprable it seems. Thx for the suggestion, never played 1H before. Have a bad habit of finding a comfortable style and not experimenting enough. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I tried on nightmare too, I got killed 5 rounds before the end after 2h30 in the end of days arena (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
Too much schoolgirls in this one, I got tired of seeing them ^^
Maybe DW+light would be good?

The head of the mace is too large for insertion IMO.
Use a smaller and thinner weapon is easier to go through their ass. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

You should use ethereal weapon or IW your weapon to LV10 first.
Your heavy plate set is good enough to clear the arena on nightmare .
You may use DW(ethereal)+Your heavy plate to clear it faster or use 1H for safety

It's not that bad for an improvised one, the only con would be the zero resistance to piercing that really hurts...

well, the 0 piercing resistance is really a pain in the ass (just to continue with that topic (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) )
also keep in mind that every burden point reduce your evade chance... since this is one of the best point of shade, i don't know if it's really good to mix a non-eth weapon with shade set, just olookin g at it you could have a -15% evade penalty or so...
