QUOTE(Razorflame @ Jan 6 2011, 23:53) Depends upon what you have the AP for.
If you want to begin raising your Forbidden prof, get Soul spells. I wouldn't get Cold spells until you get to level 130 for the Tier 3 rating bonus, and SP tanks are only useful if you use stuff like Spark of Life or you use Spirit attacks often.
SP tanks are useful for Spark of Life? QUOTE (IMG:[ g.ehgt.org] http://g.ehgt.org/hv040/img/a/1133.png)Spark of Life (x5) - Any attack that would normally kill you leaves you alive with a small percentage of HP. The buff is removed when triggered, and 50% of the player's base SP is consumed in the process. I think SP tanks is not useful for Spark of Life or is max SP not base SP?

SP tanks are usefull for spark of life, because spark consumes 50% of your base sp.Not 50% of your total sp

What is then defined as base SP? Is the base SP what you get from yous stats & power without the tanks? Another Question: i read somewhere that cure is affected by HP. Is this also true for regen & are the HP tanks also useful for that?

Yes, without tanks or hath auras. QUOTE(Darq @ Jan 7 2011, 13:31) Another Question: i read somewhere that cure is affected by HP. Is this also true for regen & are the HP tanks also useful for that?
Cure and regen are affected by base HP and curative proficiency, and in case of cure, holy rating increase it's power as well.

not sure if it's actually smart, but i also have the elemental spikes. They provide me with some mitigation against the spirit attacks from certain bosses (dunno how much , but it's noticable that i can survive their spirit attacks without using silence or losing spark of life if they cast their sp attack ).
I would also recommend shadow veil (which might be a possible innate arcana choice. Even with my low 98 supportive prof i will get around 18% extra evade from non-magic attacks), spark of life (not sure why you don't have it yet)and atleast 1 scroll slot (scrolls restock in mid battle)
edit: one infusion slot might be nice as well. An elemental infusion gives you (i think) 50 edb for that element. Which is nice if you are going to kill monsters on the higher difficulties and like scrolls they restock in battle.

SV... done...
i used to have sparks but i noticed that i barely ever used it and ever since scrolls are auto restocked in battle, sparks is no longer necessary.
already have 1 scroll and 1 infusion slot on scroll of gods and infusion of gaia respectively.
currently still have 15 APs remaining. by the time i reach the next tier i will get another 20 APs, so 35 APs.
after reserving 6 for hp and mp tanks, 11 for elec 3, i will still have 18 APs leftover...

absorb is worth of some ap or is better use them to get some electric spells just to gain some prof in advance? or should i keep the AP to get directly the soul ones at level 100?
legendary monster done, i only have the gods: mitigating gear is necessary? should i get holy and dark spells, or infusions are enough?

Soul is expensive.... and not very useful if you don't have a good katalox staff. Electric spells is the basic of the basics. Absorb is a nice thing to have, and necessary for rob (sparking every time means bringing lots of last elixirs), but grinding comes before rob. I did IPU and FSM w/o holy/dark spells. The only use of those, though, is to give 10% extra mitigation, which translates to cutting the damage you take by 1/3 (since your gear usually gives 70% already => spells 80%).

I dinged 70 lvl today and got 8 tier spells available. From what I've read Electric spells seem to be quite powerful at higher levels and my question is : should I start putting my AP in Tier 2 electric spells (elemental proficiency is my level ~ -5) or stick to Fire ones at wait for Tier 3 Electric spells ?

Fire is more useful in arena. Electric is more useful in iw/grindfest. I would max out one (both tiers). Try to get both though.

imo fire,
access to the tier 3 spell 60 levels earlier is a major boost, I can one shot hard difficulty with flames of loki with a focus staff for 100% hit chance, wouldn't be able to with t2 lightning. Lets me get about 40-50% of a level per IW run / 15 mins.
both give elemental prof so theres no real disadvantage to sticking to fire as long as its efficient for you. If you have abunch of mjolnir gear definitely lightning tho.

QUOTE Electric is more useful in iw/grindfest. Could you elaborate its usefulness over the fire ones in IW\Grindfeast ? "Deep Burns: Internal damage causes slower reactions and lowers evade and resist chance." ? @marcho : Ehmmm my gear is rather weak and I guess I have not even one piece of mjolnir gear :/. Only 3 elementalist rags boosting my elemental proficiency. The best staff which I have right now : Average ebony staff of focusThis post has been edited by HNTI: Jan 7 2011, 23:50

less monsters are resistant to electric, so its easier to one shot with.
I use fire in IW with no problem tho so don't let it bother you. Like I said personally I prefer fire but either should work.

i can one shot anything on hard (minus bosses, but they still die quite fast though) , even mind rapers and mantra's if i target them. This post has been edited by hyl: Jan 8 2011, 00:05

hello all, is it normal that at my level i can only get like 16-20 levels into a item world or grind fest before i have to use items on normal. when i mele at least. i can a little farther when i switch to mage.
If someone is willing to help me out on a more 1 to 1 basis with my set up you can pm me and i'll upload some screens of my equip and attributes, i am really feeling weak at the moment when i can't handle anything more than cake for more than like 20 rounds.
