Thanks for the clear explaining. Once I get me some Credits again, I'll look into the equipment a bit more. As for my unspent abilities, I'll save em till I find a use for them.

As you can see, I'm mixing various types of armor. Would it be better to stick to only one type? I'm thinking it would gain more armor proficiency in battle that way.

Yes, it would gain more proficiency, because it'd be the only type you were wearing. But what armor you should wear depends on your battle style. You seem like a melee type, so you have options. Some people go full plate (heavy) for the protection. Light armor... isn't as good as heavy, but you will have some more movement in it. Cloth armor tends to have the least protection and best evade. So, mixing does have benefits. You'll probably be changing it up as the situation demands, anyway.

So I'm coming up quickly on lvl 90, and I'm wondering... should I bother getting Absorb? Some folks seem to think it's not useful enough to be worth the AP, but I'm wondering if anyone likes it, and why?

I like it.

It lasts for a long time, and has a decent chance of catching magical attacks, and then it gives MP back.

Not all of it, but enought that I think it's as useful as cure or shield.

Really nice when it catches a jiggle, moo, meH, toddlerguro and the like. That's 400+HP saved. Good when used with bewilder too.

Don't throw away your Buckler. If you ever decide to change to a magic-using build (without the Staff, obviously), it'll be pretty useful.

I always cast it before going in to the final round of Endgame or Twisted Plots. It's good to have some insurance when you could be facing as many as four enemies with magical attacks, and that's not counting the ordinary monsters. And, since I have it, I use it as an extra line of defence in the Ring of Blood, and if I'm facing something like a Mind Raper on a high diffculty setting.

Ya absorb is useful, but just not all that reliable. Always nice when it gets a bosses spirit attack.

Absorb is a one-time magical version of shadow veil (though with a higher dodge chance) that also happens to refund about half the cost of casting when it triggers. Unless you have serious problems dealing with magic, it is situationally useful at best. That being said, as you don't have Spark of Life, I could see you having some use for it against bosses and legendaries, but as you have beaten all the bosses and legendaries and you will get Spark at the same time you can fight the Godlies, it might not be too useful.

Okay, so I'm a newbie who has pretty much no idea what he's doing. I'm aiming for a melee tank that's solely meant for gathering credits (which then go towards downloading and whatnot from the galleries).

I've read a little bit of info so far, mainly on what the stats do. But other than that, I'm pretty much ignorant of everything. So far I've been relying on the grindfest for credits, but would I be gathering them faster if I used the arena more often?

Oh, and if it wasn't apparent, all that equipment right now is just whatever I've scavenged from drops.

if all you want is credits your better off sticking to grindfest, you can get better credit gains in arena, but you need to spend them to enter an arena and if you lose you lose those credits. Really to do arenas with any success your likely gonna have to spend credits on the game to get gear. You can only do the arenas once a day anyway so until your a much higher level you really wouldn't notice too many more credits.

I completely agree about the Grindfest. Also, if you're only after the credits, you may think of entering it only at Cake difficulty level (it halves the EX reward butn doesn't affect Credits).

Arenas do give Credits reward the first time you clear them, but to be able to win an Arena without buying good equipment you should wait to be a FAR higher level htan the minimum required to stand a chance. All in all, if you're not interested in playing as much as gathering credits, I'd say Cakegrinds are the easiest option.

(Also, of course you could upload some galleries, or seed a torrent, to gain Gallery Points, that permit downloading as well. More info: http://ehwiki.org/wiki/GP )

While one of my main goals is indeed for gathering credits, I'm also interested in improving how I play. The Hverse system is...how do I put it, fun and captivating in an odd way.

Actually credits are also greatly reduced at cake compared to normal. Item drop rates are the same but quality of items will be overall lower in cake. But playing on normal kinda isn't worth the added difficulty till you hit the 100s.

Well the problem is you can't really play successfully and not spend the credits on the game that you earn from the game. But if your just looking for an idea of what to do look at the Tips thread. But to be successful in the game your gonna have to spend credits on gear and training.

That's not a problem. It's just that I don't want to spend those credits and find out I've accidentally wasted them on something useless.

Other than the fact that you don't gain profs, you have bleed instead of PA, and it is disorienting when random enemies die, is Niten ichiryu as awesome as it seems?

Using this and this I have the following stats:
+70.1 % damage
+55.1 % hit chance
+7.8 % crit chance
+16.4 % parry

Hi everyone,
I think I have hit a wall. I can't beat Fresh Meat and I can't level up my lvl 35 Fine Kevlar Legs. How can I improve my character? I think it may be a gear setup/gear quality problem. Here's what I got.

It looks like your stats are fairly well balanced, and your gear is pretty decent (2 pieces of kevlar at your level? LUCKY!). My only gear query is: how good is your rapier, in terms of PA proc chance and duration? Your parry is high enough that you seem to have a pretty solid offhand.

What's the deal with the 3 unspent Aura points? I assume it's because you didn't get any ranks of Refined Aura from the trainer? I'd highly suggest getting at least the first rank, ASAP. What auras do you currently have active?

For your abilities, I'd personally recommend resetting to get 5 points in Haste, drop Barrier (it's effective against too few attacks to be worthwhile), drop Shadow Veil and Condemn, and swap points out of SP Tanks and OC Boost until you totally fill your HP and MP tanks. Even us melee fighters need MP to cast curative magic and such, and higher HP gives you much lower chance of being killed too suddenly to respond. Haste is amazing because it makes monsters hit you less often, since you're attacking faster than they can respond. It's expensive to keep up, but imo it's worth it.

For play style in arena, I'd recommend that you keep Shield up at all times, and cast Haste at least once at the beginning of each round (keep it active at all times if you have the mana for that). Use Cure when you're getting lower than 50%. I find that weakening Minibosses and dealing with the normal monsters first is the best method, until you're strong enough to kill mini-bosses in just a few turns (even at my level, I still mostly stick to weakening and killing mini-bosses last). If you haven't got any ranks in Pack Rat, get at least the first one, asap. I found that being able to bring more mana restoratives to arenas at your level makes a huge difference.

Are you participating in the Hentai@Home and/or Adopt-A-Server projects? Getting Hath to buy perks will make a huge difference in your character's power.

Thanks for the advice coredumperror. My rapier is my solstice gift. It is only lvl 44 but I feel I can use it for a few more levels before I have to buy a new one. I hope to return to it and level it up at a later date. Here it is

http://hentaiverse.org/pages/showequip.php...;key=d22a7aaf83

As for auras, I have orange, yellow and green. I haven't spent my other points because I haven't seen the need for the others.
