You can occasionally meet boss monsters like Manbearpig on IW or Random Encounter.
Ultimate monsters like dragons, FSM, and etc. appear only on the Arena or RoB they're originally meant to come on.

For the 2nd question,
I think it depends on the user, but I don't prefer Power armor which is not Slaughter if it is under Mag. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Have you improved your armor. I notice you've replaced your weapon, your accuracy improved. Still not enough though. Also, I see your strength is very invested, if it's worked for you, then it's good. But if it's not, you can do a bit balancing there.

What difficulty are you playing once again?

At the risk of being a parrot again, I'll repeat the good old advice: Don't go too far ahead in one stat, distribute them across the board with the exception of INT, keeping all of them at the same level will get you the most useful stats for the least amount of points spent.

as a start, you can open this page.
There you'll see category damage has base roll of [25,47]. 25 being the minimum while 47 being the maximum. The actual damage of the weapon at level 0 is dependent on fluctuation value, in this regard, it was 0.854. Therefore, if you're unlucky enough to get katana with 25 damage roll, your damage would be 25*0.854 = 21.35 at level 0. The exquisite will get 5% bonus stat, magnifishit will get 10%, legen-barney-dary 15%, and peerless 20%, whatever kind of stat your equipment has.

Patch note of 0.77 says katana will improve it's damage roll to [30,50]. Assuming the fluctuation value stay the same, the max damage of new non-slaughter katana would be 50*0.854 (please calculate this yourself).

Small correction: Legendary multiplier is 1.2* and Peerless 1.25*.

Also, your example only applies to Katanas with zero quality. The amount of rounding...

Does have it correct for the minimum. However, 50*0.854 for supmax damage is not quite correct.
Derived Base = (^<(50*1)>*1^+^<0*1>*1^+0.849)*0.854= 43.425046

The rounding mainly comes in from situation involving ex+ and non-weapon/helmet equipment though, since it is to integer.

As you level, your mana pool will get deeper, and you'll also get slightly stronger, but you'll have to deal with more oddball monsters(oddball means hits 50% faster, 50% harder with 3x surviving power+vastly higher base stats). There really isn't a sufficient reason to not level as 2h melee though, so you might as well try to level for the extra credits from arenas. Pretty soon you'll get 100 2h prof, which will give you max domino range.

Also, what erwtsnert said on your stats. STR is certainly nowhere near as important as 6 points of AGI or DEX. (For starters, 6 points of DEX would give triple the physical damage boost STR gives alone, not to mention the accuracy and crit boosts. AGI..might be allowed to lag behind a little, but it should be more than half the cost of END)

I'm playing in Hell diff right now (x6), but occasionally I change to Challenging.

If I'm playing arena, then I'll drop it down to Normal or Hard. Not sure if this is a bad idea though.

I see, does difficulty matter to level up proficiency? If not, then I'll play on Normal or Hard until my 2H hits 100....

Well, getting hit alot may get fixed by more evade. Or just killing faster. Leveling your club up will help with both, no matter which potencies you earn. try using the skills in a smart pattern, esp with 6+ mobs...if you learn how to get the timing of building OC and using the 3 skills to kill/near-kill 5 mobs with Frenzied Blows near the very start of each new round, you can kill the remainder off one-by-one quickly before their skills build and threaten. Best possible pattern is to have a SS'd FB strike as your first hit of the new round.

Also, you should definitely start trying FSM on higher levels, incl. PFUDOR...it should be very easy for you with that DW set. No sense in wasting the tokens on an inferior drop bonus. Others have described the foolproof recipe...sleep everyone you're not hitting...silence whomever you are...and don't wake anyone up with FB. SS your strikes instead for max damage. This recipe is overly cautious, I suspect, for your gear.

Sleep is only necessary for RoB. If you do daily FSM, you should have Mind Control, or you will sleep one enemy per 5 turn (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .
