Thanks, but I'm still confused. Since the first and second skill both use mp, if I stop it from using the first skill won't that save more mp for the second?

Nope, they both require the same amount of MP (50%). There's a roll done to determine if it tries to use one or the other; this roll still occurs even without a valid 1st skill available.

Lets say the monster has 50% mp. It uses the first skill, which drops the mp down to 0. Then, the next turn, it rolls the second skill, but there isn't enough mp so it doesn't use it. If it hadn't used that first skill, it would still have enough mp, correct? Or do skills proc rarely enough that running out of mp is not an issue?

Int/Wis are the most important, put as many points as you can. End is quite important, it wasn't that important last patch, but it may have changed (I abandoned maging after last patch because I am lazy). Str/Dex/Agi are pretty crap, keep them around 100 under core stats. For you I would take out a couple of points from wis and end to bring up your Int. For the couple points of hp and mp, you could get 50 int which is 100 base magic damage, an 11% increase in damage.

Wrong. It checks for mana first THEN rolls for which skill to use. It can also go many turns without using a skill at all.

I see. Would something like this be plausible, then? with 1st skill: it has 50% mp, rolls the first skill, and ends up at 0 mp. The next few turns it doesn't have enough mp and doesn't roll for skills. w/o 1st skill: it has 50% mp, rolls for first skill, but there's no first skill and it doesn't do anything. The next turn it rolls again, and was lucky enough to roll the second skill, so it uses it.

Dunno the mechanics (apparently Joe does), but if that's plausible, so is this (and in many ways more likely): Round X: Rolls for skill, rolls 1st skill, does not cast. Round X+1: gets slapped in the face with an Estoc and dies. as is. . . Round X: Rolls for skill, rolls 1st and fails. Round X+1: Fails to roll X+2: Fails to roll X+3: Fails to roll X+4: Rolls 1st skill X+5: Slapped in the face with an Estoc and dies.

actually i think that you just can't, even if you wait until level 200 without naming the first skill. when you name the second skill, if the first one is not named it won't let you save. even if the first skill didn't have a name in the first place. didn't try myself but i think the result would be as i described.

Level 40 here & am planning on going to use 2 Hand Maces.
How should my stat distribution be like?
Right now, I have: Strength: 40 Dexterity: 40 Agility: 40 Endurance: 40 Intelligence: 25 Wisdom: 20
In addition, are there some abilities you'd recommend that I invest in? Already invested in HP Tank (tier 2), MP Tank (tier 2), 2H Damage (tier 1), heavy armor everything (all tier 1), cure (tier 2)

Don't know if the PMI reductions stack (I expect they would, but would not take a target past 0 PMI), but Imperil's specific mitigation reductions definitely can be applied and will increase damage from any elemental strikes on your weapon.

did a quick search for your posts and i found that your last one was on june 15th. looking at your post count and join date i think you don't know how the dawn bonus works. http://ehwiki.org/wiki/Dawn_of_a_New_Dayyou should find everything you need. basically you need to be active on the forum by making at least a post for at least 20 of the last 30 days to get the full bonus. i suggest you make a daily post in one of the many spam topics in this section of the forum if you don't have anything to say. that's the reason they even exist (i wouldn't mind an unified general spam tread).

no , my 2H set is slower than my DW set in marathons , i have try it before coz nerf of great cleave (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) i use same armor set , just change the weapon only DW is faster in marathons than 2H , 2H faster in T&T below / GF / IW (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) i can go faster if i have money to go full slaughter (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) if 2H faster than DW , that coz their fast ping + have some legendary estoc like xtech (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) This post has been edited by nobody_xxx: Aug 9 2013, 11:18
