I have an overall question regarding Token drop chances in Arena battles. Is there a better chance of getting a Token if you refrain from using items? I feel like if I use a Potion, I'm hindering my chances of getting one. It's a little frustrating.

Nope.

I use my current stuff. I cast Spark of Life, Haste, Shadow Veil, Protection and Regen II (in that order). Every channeling proc I use first for Heartseeker then for X-nerf. Then I Weaken everything. Then I just blast everything away, building OC for the skills or stance.

The problem I can see with your build currently is your lack of damages. My weapon isn't that powerfull either, but I have more more (more) STR and prof bonuses, plus my Power armor that helps me build it. And to top that, with Niten I have a decent parry.

Going for Plate or Shield heavy armor is absolutely ok, but you need something to compensate the lack of damages, I can only see a weapon of Slaughter for that (plus Estoc proc Penetrative Armor, always good ^^).

So I need a good ethereal of slaughter either exquisite or magnificent soon ...(at this stage I can only dream about legendary stuffs (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) ) lol

Also if its not too much trouble can you please show me your stat I would like to see it if its ok with you that is ^^

Ok, I've realized that maging is pretty much a glass cannon strategy, but i'm wondering how the high level mages survive in IWBTH (in other words what I should be striving to achieve).

I can do hour-lies on iwbth but I heavily rely on SoL.

Typical IWBTH fight:

01 Haste
02 SoL
03 Shadow Veil
04 Protection
w/ 7 or more monsters 95% chance SoL will trigger...
05 Godly Health Potion (use this as cure + regen)

at this point I weaken everything
heal as necessary,
my channels go to --> Arcane Focus, Regen II in that order
third channel goes to absorb if any known casters mp get high...

after everything is weakened, I imperil the known resistant monsters.

its usually around turn 30-35 before I do my first damage...

the thing is even if I bought legendary godly phase of everything, I can't see my mage build with enough mitigation to not get raped... how do you guys do it? what can/should I do?

pretty sure mages kill all of them by 30 turns, not start damaging then

I buff myself, then just nuke, heal, nuke, let spark trigger, heal, nuke and repeat. I don't wait for channels to cast my expensive buffs, though. Instead, I try to use them to get channeling for my nukes since mana conservation is a low priority in a random encounter.


Also, the spell Protection doesn't do all that much for anyone wearing only cloth armor, you shouldn't cast it at the start of the encounter, at least. Just cast Haste, SoL, Shadow Veil, then Arcane Focus, if you have sufficient action speed, you should still be able to strike first. Try the wind spells if you are an elemental mage, 10% extra miss chance might be helpful to not get killed.

It's not just your weapon. Your helmet is good, chest is.. acceptable I guess.
Gauntlets are kevlar and have no end, change those for a heavy piece with str/end at least.
Greaves have decent PABs but still, deflection is a bad suffix, especially on shielding plate.
Your boots are trash, honestly, leather is the worst piece of armor to wear (along with cloth.) Again, get something heavy there immediately.

As for what I do/did; haste-prot-spirit shield-regen II and then weaken everything (I still do it, but more to gain a few prof points here and there) heartseeker is channeling procced and after it's just holding down buttons, maybe a cure if I dropped below half.

If you get some sup/ex plate of protection in every slot it'll be easier, just open a WTB topic and Im sure you'll get some decent offers at a reasonable price.

Say I wanted to try maging now, I've never done that so far, how... 'weaked' I would be since my base stats are tweaked to a melee build? (basically everything is at 330, while wis and int are at 310)

problem is:
2-3 regular attacks kill me dead; vs 8+monsters, evading 1/2 the attacks = dead for sure
1 critical kills me dead for sure...

I'm lightning mage. with Wrath of thor I deal about 2-5K damage. average enemy hp is 60k, with about 1/3 monsters hp 80-90k.
even with with arcane focus, imperil, and terbulent air proc (-25% elec res.) it takes 2-4 rounds to kill them. IF I didn't die and recast /potion/etc etc...

I have 6681HP, 27Physical mit, 35 mag mit.

4 10 You evade the attack from Ryougi Shiki.
4 9 You evade the attack from Magic The Gandhi.
4 8 Asuna Berserk Healer hits you for 2984 piercing damage.
4 7 You gain the effect Cloak of the Fallen.
4 6 Your Spark of Life restores you from the brink of defeat.
4 5 Deadly Moth crits you for 4425 piercing damage.
4 4 Baloth hits you for 1767 slashing damage.

aloc1234: Not much, really. You should get more than half your INT/WIS from phase. Lacking spell profs, now that hurts.

Even best mages in game don't finish IWBTH Trio anymore in a reasonable time and resources. A mage's advantage is killing mass numbers of mobs, not high difficulty, that's in their nature as glass cannon.

I think you should have mostly ex-mag phase by now with a decent mag staff, but really, ever since the level scaling change maging gets weaker rather quickly as you level past 100 instead of slowly.

everything is worth forging but every new patch will turn it into junk.

Since I already mentioned I am a noob when it comes to equipments so can anyone explain me a bit what are all these different names and what does they basically represent or do ?
