Ah, well, as far as that goes, I *was* challenging ol' FSM back then on IWBTH (before the whole 2x HP thing). I was running as a Battlecaster hybrid melee/mage with mixed armour types (Shade + some Cotton pieces, iirc). It may have taken over 1,000 rounds each time, but I always got that nonexistent bastard. Vital Strike is a very awesome Skill (and I suspect Frenzied Blows is no less awesome).

Now, if I could do that with a build I believe everyone says is infeasible, I think the man can do better with proper, um, guidance (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I wasn't questioning it's possibility. I was questioning it's practicality (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Theoretically, FSM can be killed at level 100. Is it worth the effort+time is another issue ^^

After maxing out HP/MP/SP tanks, is there a specific element I should be investing ability points into as a melee? Even just for ele resistance, now that auras don't give any of that? I was thinking either fire or dark since legendaries seem to wield those elements. And would it matter if I started at higher tier magics and work downward?

My ability tree is below:

I just realized I have no idea what the difference is from monsters with spirit bars and those without. I just really started dealing with the monsters with spirit bars outside of IWBTH, and I never thought what the difference is? Are they just stronger? Do they have higher item drop rates? etc. Anyone able to clear this up for me please?

If you don't have great gear or don't want to pay attention to the monsters that much absorb procs pretty decently I'd say.

More XP by 1% per PL. Higher chance of drop by 1% per 50 PL over 500, IIRC. Probably some ill-understood quality mod as well connected to their stats.

Is "Absorb" any useful against normal monsters?
I had it trigger several times against bosses but against normal monsters so far not once. Now I have reset my Abilities and wonder if it is worth the investment. I am currently a standard Ice Mage.
