QUOTE(Insania @ Jan 20 2013, 00:48) I played on normal
That's strange. Any more details? Because I usually one-shot most monsters that don't resist on normal with my dark mage set. QUOTE Another question which is better gossamer or phase?
Usually, phase is superior but a good gossamer can be quite good, as well. As long as it has really high elemental, divine or forbidden proficiency bonuses.

2 9 Regen II restores 951 points of health. 2 7 Celestia Lindwurm hits you for 2204 crushing damage. 2 6 Celestia Lindwurm crits you for 2645 crushing damage. on normal. 4 enemies With more enemies I would be doomed. Have protection and haste on.

You need spark of life at all times as a mage. It's perfect for mages. Also, protection is almost useless for mages, use shadow veil instead. And don't forget spirit shield. Without it even non-Eila monsters can one-hit you easily. Also, expect a lot of this shit. QUOTE 8 5 Regen II restores 893 points of health. 8 4 Elizabeth crits you for 2981 piercing damage. 8 3 Your spirit shield absorbs 2215 points of damage from the attack into 15.16 points of spirit damage. 8 2 Elizabeth resists your spell. 8 1 You cast Weaken. 7 3 Regen II restores 893 points of health. 7 2 Elizabeth resists your spell. 7 1 You cast Weaken. 6 3 Regen II restores 893 points of health. 6 2 Elizabeth resists your spell. 6 1 You cast Weaken. QUOTE(TheGreyPanther @ Jan 19 2013, 12:42) . Will donation come back? When Tenboro deems it necessary I bet. QUOTE Are they truly gone? They've been gone before and come back so probably not. QUOTE Have T said anything? Nope. QUOTE I remember him saying that he didn't need donations as the site paid for itself so perhaps he won't bother with the hassle with payment providers anymore? He doesn't "need" donations period but the site is getting more expensive...

Forgot to ask this in my earlier post, but does FSM have any inherit loot drop bonus other than a guaranteed trophy? With my current gear I don't think I could take the thousands of rounds I'd probably need to kill him on IWBTH.

Supposedly there's a huge loot bonus, so it is worth doing IWBTH after the first clear (use DW if you have to).

Doesn't mean you can't get a fine cotton shirt soaked on pasta water.

Meh, after you get 2 fines and 1 average in a row, you start to question that loot bonus (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

It's all about being patient. FSM gives you the opportunity. He does not give you a good drop by definition. Just the chance. (a pretty decent one compared to other monsters) Also the noodle is a good consolation prize. I don't remember when I last got something good from IWBTH FSM. 170 noodles on hand and counting. Don't think I got anything memorable during those 170 IWBTH runs but that doesn't stop him from being one of the top 3 farm targets if not the no.1 reward/time monster for those capable of killing him.

Since FSM have more HP now, I'm start training DW. I would like to know do DW work well with power armor, or should I invest in shade?

Just stick with with whichever favours of heavy armour you've been using thus far.

Power armor, cause more damage. More damage -> better skills.

I would make WIS closer to the main stat.

According to my character screen, my block % is 52.4
Shield: 26.62% Helm: 6.18% Armor: 11.42% Gloves: 9.43 Legs: 8.30 Boots: 4.01 1H proficiency: 41.xx = 2% Total: 67.96%
Why does this discrepancy occur? Is there a cap/diminishing return on block percentage?
Thinking about it, I guess there should be. Seems like it would be relatively easy to get to 100% block by the time someone reached level 300 or so.

I think accuracy, EDB, prof and attack/magical damage are the only stats that are completely additive, everything else subject to the (1-stat from each source) formula. Missed anything ? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) This post has been edited by fishinsea: Jan 20 2013, 09:08

Missed anything ? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) You're right, block chances for each: S:0.2662 H:0.0618 A:0.1142 G:0.0943 L:0.083 B:0.0401 P:0.02 So just running them as independent events, and then the chance of at least one event succeeding. 1-[(1-S)(1-H)(1-A)(1-G)(1-L)(1-B[img][/img])(1-P)] = 52.3553~ Thanks This post has been edited by ravenfrost123: Jan 20 2013, 09:28

Welcome to mage. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) You are no longer a tank. You are a glass cannon now. As such, instead of just taking it on the chin, you'll need to avoid getting smacked in the first place, usually by killing everything and then evading. Your buffs should be Haste, SV, AF, Spark/SS (or both), and Regen II (cast after you've wasted most of the first round, otherwise you get smacked). Absorb if that's your taste. Protection does jack all for mages (I'll burn a Channeling on Fimbulvetr before I'll waste it on Protection). Yeah, that's a lot of buffs, but you have the mana pool to sustain that. As far as equipment, pick either Heimdall or Fenrir phase and make a full suit. Make sure each piece has INT and WIS, as those are the ones that make things die. You'll still use both Holy and Dark, but your armor determines what you open with and what you use on things without a specific weakness. The other thing about mage that's very different from melee is that monster types matter a hell of a lot more. Void damage turns them all into a slurry of HP where only Chaos upgrades matter, but mages have elemental resist to worry about. Undead take a lot more damage from Holy than Dark, HTTP's Sprites laugh at Holy but die to Dark just fine.
