I have a question about Absorb, is it useful in cakefests at all? Or is it just something that should be used against legendaries, or in battletoads or something?
Also, how much of the dmg to you convert to MP? Does it ever equal out in MP spent, or is it always below that?

I have asked this question already in the HV questions thread (this one is for character build, but no one pays attention anyways). The answer that I got was absorb is not needed until level 220, where the arena challenge bosses/legendaries like to use 1 hit ko's against you. It is also useful for casting when you have channeling for free mp.

QUOTE(Tenboro @ Aug 5 2009, 07:59) - Absorb has been modified in the following way: -- On a successful trigger, the absorbed MP is now random between 5% and 10% of your current base max MP. -- It will now absorb more MP the more points you put in it. The bonus returned MP is 12.5% per additional point. (So with 5 points you'd absorb between 7.5% and 15%).
You can get back a little more than the spell costs, but on average it will be less. I wonder if this should be in the FAQ? Of course, maybe it wouldn't need to be if someone added it to the spell's description it in the wiki...

Done. edit: Incidentally, someone might need to define what base MP is... This post has been edited by Boggyb: Jun 29 2010, 17:46

Something in that doesn't make sense... 5% - 10% is on lvl1 Absorb I assume (5-10 because of luck, yes?) 7.5%-15% is maximum at lvl 5 That's an increase in 2.5%-5% for 5 levels, And it increases 12.5% every level? *Brain explodes* Shouldn't that make it way WAY higher than 7.5%-15%?

Could I have worded it differently to prevent the confusion?

I think not unless: QUOTE Additional AP increases the MP absorbed by 12.5% (of the 5-10%) per additional point for a maximum of 7.5% to 15% of your base max MP with 5 points.
Still doesn't sound right (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Edit: Spirit shield and cure II spells are still incomplete (base cost/duration) This post has been edited by cmdct: Jun 29 2010, 20:26

You mean cure III. We also need the base duration for: Confuse Blind Barrier This post has been edited by Boggyb: Jun 29 2010, 20:34

You don't, I was just kidding QUOTE(Boggyb @ Jun 29 2010, 19:30) Is this better? QUOTE Additional AP increases the MP absorbed by a factor of 1.125 per additional point for a maximum of 7.5% to 15% of your base max MP with 5 points. Surprising it is, because the ones who would make the mistake, look at that and say huh? factor of what? Ok 7.5% to 15% I believe it. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) QUOTE(Boggyb @ Jun 29 2010, 19:30) You mean cure III. We also need the base duration for: Confuse Blind Barrier
Exactly. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Since you have all these spells, and we know how proficiency works with this, isn't just a matter of casting once, and make the calculations?

Since you have all these spells, and we know how proficiency works with this, isn't just a matter of casting once, and make the calculations? Probably. Of course, no one ever told me what the formula used was, and I'm busy doing other things that won't benefit me.

Well the formula itself is on wiki, and since you edited that page I assumed you already knew, but this is a reminder, do only when you can.

I added the base cost of Spirit Shield and Cure III. Some things I noticed when looking: Cure 2 is supposed to have a base cost of .56 yet costs me 127 mp (.56*230= 128.8) X-Nerf is supposed to have a base cost of .80 yet costs me 138 mp (.80*230= 184)

It's probably .55 instead. Cure 2 cost me 97 mp when it should cost (0.56*176 = 98.56) But if (0.55*176 = 96.8) and (.55*230= 126.5)

It was probably a typo, since .60 seem to fit, although you should confirm with EvolutionKing for a better approximation.

I just misunderstood in that I thought you said it increased 12.5% per level total, not 12.5% of the already 5-10% per level. So I thought level 1 would be min 5, level 2 would be min 17.5 (5+12.5)
But then I realized I was smoking crack and wasn't that good with math to begin with.

I understand that. I do, also, understand that other people could have that same confusion which is why I re-wrote it. Of course, I'm going to kill the person who asks why the increases aren't applied individually rather than at the same time.

Hi guys can you tell me what I'm doing wrong here? My character keeps losing without at least 2 potions and 10-15 mana for Cure I and this is in the Grindfest.
Str/Dex/Agi/End all 25, Int 14, Wis 16 Proficiencies: One Hand 8.59, Dual hand 19.05, Shield 10.33, Heavy armor 23.33, Cure 9.15, elemental 6.99, all other proficiencies are mostly 0. Att accuracy 77% crit 5% Magic accuracy 76% crit 4% Att rating 58, Magic rating 30 HP/MP/SP 411/64/25 Level 25, Shield Rating 59, Barrier rating 54, Regen HP/MP/SP 11/1.64/.34 elemental rating fire 1%, wind 3% overcharge 102, action speed 109, I have maxed out 3 Ability levels of HP/MP/SP tanks, Ability Points in Weaknes I, Aura Slot I & II, Item Slot I, Cure, and 1 Overcharge point. 1 Orange Aura and 1 Green Aura activated.
I am using Fine Ruby rapier and Avg Ruby Kite shield at the moment. My interference is 132.7 and burden is 130.8. The interference makes it impossible to cast anything other than cure so I didnt bother much with magic. My equipment is all Average Ruby armor from Ruby Plate greaves, Ruby helmet, Ruby shield to Ruby chainmail. I have a Fine Rapier, a Fine Ruby shortsword, Avg Ruby dagger, Avg Ruby longsword. I originally was doing a dual wield technique (I wanted to try out Niten Ichiryu at higher levels) but I found with a One Hand and shield I last a bit longer in fights. Still I don't last nearly enough before Im killed and if I dont figure out a method to take less damage and dish out more and increase my accuracy it will make it impossible for me to complete higher Arena levels. I read here before some people said tanks dont last long in Grindfests and so. If a tank is not good for long lasting what type of character is better at it? A mage? I want to last longer so I can compete in the higher Arena battles without losing, Is there anything different I can do here? Thanks.
