QUOTE(Mr. Plow @ Mar 25 2012, 06:41) Aura Slots and Item Slots are both things you should definitely work to max out: Aura Slots so you can get that great exp bonus which is factored in separately from other bonuses and thus greater then just getting a few levels of adept learner or exp tanks and Item Slots to bring more potions with you and survive longer in battle. Drop rate training is more something you work on for the long term. You really won't be able to tell the difference between levels very easily and you certainly won't if you can't play more rounds (this ability can be gained by leveling up more...which Aura Slots can help with). Since you won't be able to train Scavenger, etc. with the winnings you got from IPU, you may as well finish up training the slots and notice that benefit at least.
Not to put words in Varst's mouth, but I think I got that idea from reading his words of wisdom; I think he would also agree with the idea of training Pack Rat and Refined Aura ASAP (please, correct me if I'm wrong).
Actually I'd disagree. The increase in EXP is not really worth splunking 100k at this level, especially when you can use it for better things. As for pack rat, it should definitely be up to your needs. For example, if you never use more than 4 mana pots in any circumstances, should you train pack rat? I'd say no. When you start cutting it close on mana, for example (a dry run without mana gems), you should then think about spending money there. Besides, leveling up item slot -> more slots -> spend more pot while scavenger and LotD is not high enough to keep up with your potion income is just asking for trouble.

QUOTE(n125 @ Mar 25 2012, 00:07) You'll eventually want to have multiple Phase suits; for example, one or more for elemental spells, and another (with a Katalox Destruction staff) for Holy and/or Dark spells.
I really have no intention of using holy/dark ever, just farming max credits daily whenever I feel like it once I'm around level 120+ with a single equip set geared specifically to it (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Thanks for the reply btw.

QUOTE(KCzz15 @ Mar 25 2012, 04:13) Okay, I've a question or two. I'm a mage, looking to go long term into wind + lit (assuming that's a good idea, otherwise all base elements(?)) for credit farming + winning fights by casting wind and lightning as needed. 1: Can just wind + lit work and what supportive / deprecating spells are useful for that? For general long-term fight survival and preferably the ability to not be horribly, horribly raped for 150% of my max hp in one special attack from bosses too, etc. I need to know to be able to plan how many of my ability points to save for them and not waste my points on things that sound good but prove to be worthless. 2: What staff and cloth armour set should I be shooting for long term? I still have no idea which bonuses are best to aim for. (great prefix) Ebony staff of Focus(?) (great prefix) Phase (whatever) of Freyr/Mjolnir(which? something else?) Or what exactly? Also, which bonuses are more important? Like what are the top 3 bonuses or so I should be looking for in order on the staff or the armour of those? Feel free to point me to a shop (yours?) selling good examples of those equipment pieces (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Thanks for any help. 1: The most useful supportive spells I've found is 1. Haste, 2. Shadow Veil (for when you have around 15-20% evade), 3. Weaken (High-difficulty encounters), 4. Bewilder (the magic equivalent of Weaken), 5. Arcane Focus (it's like equiping another staff (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)), 6. Poison (slows down the bosses' 1-hit KO rates), 7. Spark of Life (saves your ass). In addition, you should also get Cure, Regen and Regen II when it becomes available to you. Protection is really a hit and miss. It's only 1 point, but honestly you never use it unless you have a free channeling and nothing needs refreshing (highly unlikely at your level). 2: Staff and armor set is up to you. Most people advise to go for focus, but if you can get 90+% hit chance with a destruction staff, go for that instead. And for a starter mage, a gossamer of elementalist set is the way to go. The reason being that phases are usually very expensive (a good piece costs at least 30k, all the way to the millions for heimdall and fenrir pieces), while a very good gossamer set costs maximum around 10k each piece. At your level, I think you should focus on prof bonus, then evade bonus. I have a lot of gossamer pieces in my shop, you are welcome to check it out. Link in my sig. When you're shopping for gossamer, the number 1 priority IMO for you should be prof bonus. You want the highest amount of elemental prof bonus. Next up is evade. That should also be as high as possible.

@Post #13280 etothex are you weakening everything right after buffing? You can also poison the ones that you aren't in your domino radius. Bewilder the casters as well, if taking too many magic specials. ----------------------------
weaken all the ten in begining? i never tried that

do it. From wiki: QUOTE The target is weakened, making its physical attacks deal less damage and preventing them from being critical strikes. Physical defense reduction: 10% Physical damage dealt reduction: 10% per AP; 50% when maxed therefore after weakening them all at the beginning, no crits (save magic specials), and you take 50% less physical damage from them all if maxed. In case it needs to be said, always max weaken. I weaken at least some on difficulty encounter past nightmare if I feel it's needed. Usually weaken most of them on nintendo/BT. Weaken all on IWBTH. Okay, so I just barely lived through End of Days on Normal with an Ethereal Mace. Can any melee players actually farm these arenas on a daily basis on a difficulty higher than Normal or is that mages only? Or is it because the mace is not a very good weapon choice for schoolgirls?

I don't think mages can even last that long (without proper ET of course).

How is Burning Soul/Soul Burst supposed to work?
I cast Soul Fire or Soul Burst and Burning Soul procs. Then I cast Soul Burst again, and Burning Soul doesn't explode, contrary to what the wiki says. Am I missing something here or is this normal?

From my understanding, it should be soul fire -> proc -> soul burst -> burst + proc, then soul burst again.

IIRC, Burning Soul doesn't explode. Instead it does DOT and makes Soul Burst's damage go from "hey, its kinda big" to "this won't fit in my vagina".

For the guys who cleared EoD or higher: are those 50+ schoolgirl trophies per arena clear worth it? Is there a good chance of getting ethereals?

not sure what to expect yet, but from the lvl 180 & 190 arena, i don't think it should be too hard. 50 rounds of the last fight and i don't go all out or anything, if i do the 180 & 190 arena without using gems, i think i would end up using about 1-2 godlies. On melee IWBTH hourlies. i suggest being at least 100 for SoL and using 2H. i usually go haste, SoL, protection, weaken all, use channeling for heartseeker and regen (2), attack spreading out the stun or bleeding proc on all enemies. should focus on spreading out damage for a spirit stance + Shatter and kill before the shatter stun is gone. nearly 100% success unless i do something stupid, had two encounters with bosses and no real problem. don't use any potions unless spark is triggered twice or i face a boss. if u have IA, i suggest putting SoL on it. do the fairly obvious stuff, heal at low hp, recast buffs if needed, etc. i'm mainly a heavy melee now, but tested with my light set one not different.

You can try that, technically it's up to whether you get a stun off or not. Weaken takes less time than other actions; with haste, i can cast weaken 4 times before monsters take an action. Misses are something you deal with whether it's magic or melee so I never really took it into account. This post has been edited by etothex: Mar 25 2012, 07:25

You MUST weaken everything on IWBTH, no matter you miss them or not. Oh god... no wonder you have a hard time with IWBTH hourlies... If you don't weaken them, they'll crit you like hell and even more than hell when they're agitated QUOTE(derpymal @ Mar 25 2012, 05:43) IIRC, Burning Soul doesn't explode. You don't have to put it that way, derpymal (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) So basically Soul Fire amplifies Soul Burst's damage, rather than exploding like elemental spells! I've remembered somone at toplevel saying they don't do the Schoolgirls Marathon anymore, since it's too damn boring, time-consuming and most of the trophies only give crap. Bro, you need to read more
