I've made 2 new monsters, human & undead for 26 total in the past week or so. The newest one is only a day or two old, with a record of 4-1. The human is 6-1 but they suck at most levels.

My first monster only has a record of 1514 Killing Blows: 110 (Celestial suck too)

I'm just saying you can make low level monsters 35,50,75,100 or something and they can still bring you a lot of low-mid stuff along with bindings.

But ya lower level monsters did get more kills in before but then lower level monsters kill lower level players

I was wondering if I should get a monster. Looks like I'm not there yet and getting burned out on credits to find more loot. So Chaos Tokens are randomly dropped in the Arena correct?

I'm far from an expert, but i think that is the case, that's the only place I've gotten them [at least Im very certain since I do most of fighting in the arena] . The wiki suggest that there might be other places, but the vast majority come from the Arena.

Check out the wiki article about tokens here... http://ehwiki.org/wiki/Items#Tokens

Most of them will come from clearing Arenas, but they can also rarely drop in regular battles.

Since Monster Drops have been talked about in the last few posts, is there a section anywhere that documents frequency of loot dropped by monsters? I’m looking for something that correlates drop frequency, monster level/skill, etc. Haven’t found anything that detailed in the wiki.

If anyone has the info, I’d happily update the wiki to get the info out there.

I think he meant data on how often one should check to get the most from the lab.

I have no data to back this up, but in my experience it's best to check monsters under PL 200 once a day, and monsters above PL 200 twice a day.

I thought the consensus was that once per hour is optimal in the long run.

I have finally reached Level 40 and have access to the Haste spell. I notice that the enemies hit much harder now and even my Cloth armor set only protects me from a few hits, so I had to cast a Protection spell before I'm wiped out. I'm using a two-handed sword to wipe out the mobs quickly. Should I switch to Light Armor instead? I already use deprecating magic and supportive magic to help me in battle, but I keep draining MP quickly.

Protection doesn't do much with Cloth armor. Switch to Light or Heavy armor; Cloth armor is for mages. What difficulty are you playing on? I was honestly fine back then on Normal and Hard with just curative spells until later on when I had more MP due to the abilities. Finally, if you haven't already, equip some Mana Potions. (I honestly only started doing this near Level 100 though...)

Well, given the formula,

QUOTE
Gift chance (%) = # of hours since last check * Battles won since last gift

I too think once per hour it's a bit often, unless it's a very high PL monster which might gets wins easily.

I mean, if all I get is like a single win per day, checking it every hour the chance for a gift is gonna be like 1 %, or 2 % the following day if I keep checking and there's no wins...

Yep, I'll probably stick checking once / day.

I was on Hard for Grindfest. Guess I need to buy some Light armor pieces then. My stats are in the 30s except for Strength at 48 and Endurance at 41 (due to bonuses from my equipment)

No, that would be 1-0.99^24 = 0.21 → 21%.
Assuming you check every hour, though. Which no one in their right mind would do.

Also:

QUOTE(Tenboro @ Aug 12 2011, 12:19) *
Eh, no. Modeling this isn't trivial since the probability is variable. But you can trivially calculate the odds of getting at least one item by hour X by calculating the odds of not getting one, and you should be able to model it more thoroughly by calculating a cumulative distribution function on a gamma distribution, but I honestly can't be arsed.

If you simplify it somewhat and say that the monster kills stay fixed at say 10, you can use simple binomial probability to do it. In which case, the odds of getting exactly k drops is nCk * p^k * (1-p) ^ (n - k). Or specifically:

0: 0.348
1: 0.387
2: 0.198
3: 0.057
4: 0.011
5: 0.0015
6+: <0.2% chance

So the average drops in a ten-hour period with checking once every hour would be about 0 * 0.348 + 1 * 0.387 + 2 * 0.198 + 3 * 0.057 + 4 * 0.011 + 5 * 0.0015 + insignificant ~= 1.01, compared to a fixed 1 for just checking on the 10th hour.

I suck cocks in hell when it comes to math, but is the formula I quoted from the wiki outdated?

I don't get the numbers, for the aforementioned reason I guess lol...

I was going to post this in the chat thread. But since its about the gameplay and it may be regard as a tip, I'll post it here.

....

Just finished messing around with skill for the heck of it and I found this to be the only scenario outside of RoB so far that give me some satisfaction after using it. Although I'm not quite sure if this really worth the hassle (probably not), but it's kinda fun. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)

:: Melee, T&T Final round :: (@ Higher difficulty)

0. Use 2H (Scythe work best for this purpose, but not needed) and Haste.
1. Slow + Debuff all mobs.
2. Use Shatter Strike. (activate SP mode first)
3. Use Scroll of Swiftness. (for extra Haste)
4. Whack something til OC ~ 60-80%
5. Activate SP mode.
6. ????
7. PROFIT! ... That is, until Stun & PA from Shatter Strike expired (about 20 turns).
#. (optional) Add Infusions, Vase, Gum for extra lulz.

TBH, I still want the old system back... (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) But that won't going to happen anyway so I might as well practice it a bit and pretend that it's awesome and I need to use it.

Well I do got 2 light armor pieces that I got from enemy drops. Guess I should try that. I don't like Burden and Interference with my magic, but not at the expense of getting killed in a few rounds.
