And has Staff Fighting Style ever worked? Or because of the low survivability compare to other melee, nearly no melee stat on staff that it never works despite the Staff Damage ability at lv 0 give as much attack damage as lv 200 2H weapon one?

As things you fight get stronger, a glass-cannon build like Mage needs to go faster than the opponents and kill them too fast to retaliate. That requires very powerful gear, which is prohibitively expensive for anyone who isn't a) a long-time player who has built up a lot of wealth over time or B) spent enough RL cash to get that wealthy sooner. Mage does work. It's considered the most powerful build. Which is why all the richest and highest level players spend so much for the gear needed to play it. Ditto to everything Cryosite said. Lots of useful information there.
One minor correction: enemy count doesn't really increase in grindfests. Only the first ~20 rounds have a random number of enemies, after that it's always 7-9 all the way through to round 1000. Also, monster health remains unchanged, only their damage increases.

Effect is almost unoticeable at all. That perk had sense when we still had to wait out of combat for our HP/MP/SP to regen. This is not the case anymore. I'd say that after Innate Arcana, the top priority should be the 3 HP/MP/SP buffing perks.

QUOTE(amumusdream @ Nov 16 2017, 15:58) what is resistance chance? chance to evade magic skill?
You have several layers of defenses available to you. Mitigation is split into physical and magical and reduces damage incoming by a %. Then you have evade and block, which apply to all attacks and are a chance to avoid all damage from an attack. Parry and resist are physical/magical defenses. Where parry lets you completely avoid physical attacks, resist lets you completely or partially avoid magical attacks. QUOTE Shalana Of The Starlight Eyes casts Physic Hymn, and crits you for 2512 holy damage (50% resisted)
Then you have typed mitigations for piercing, slashing, and crushing damage as well as the six elements: fire, ice, wind, electric, dark, and holy. Then obviously there is plain old "lots of hit points" to stay alive with. If you're interested in the exact layering and mechanics of each, you'd probably want to check the wiki. This was my run of Eternal Darkness on PFUDOR Is that too slow? Take into account that my connection keeps making the game stutter, and at times it takes several seconds for a single turn. (IMG:[ puu.sh] https://puu.sh/ynJ39/6029fb136e.png)

Even when taking your connection into account, it's still quite slow for PFUDOR Eternal Darkness for someone of your level. You're doing something wrong, and you should also do your maximum to see if you can't solve anything in the quality of your connection. A lot of lag issues involve the configuration of one's computer and router, not the quality of the Internet network.
I had that kind of stuttering issues like that some time ago, and it was due to my router. Solved it, very smooth now.

I have no way of setting up the router since this is a shared house I'll be living in just a month or so, so that's off the table. As for what I'm doing, I realized I hadn't equipped the Imperil abilities, but I don't know if that alone is enough. I'm a 1H+Heavy, I just hover until things are dead, and I imperil the schoolgirls when they appear. That's it. Here's my stats. (IMG:[ puu.sh] https://puu.sh/ynUPb/898c80c9cf.png)

My suggestion would be lowering your INT (to 0, by 10 per day) and raising your STR a lot. Also, your block is low. But with choppy internet and low ping, you could consider starting a mage build. That would require you to do some bounties, I think. Elemental is easiest to get started. Fire is cheapest option, Cold is good and reasonable priced, but the more expensive elements (wind, Elec) are somewhat better. But then even with bad internet 20 minutes would be achievable.

I'd rather stick with Melee since I want to be able to play while I'm barely paying any attention, and even with scripts a mage build looks too involved. Also, won't 0 INT be a problem? I mean, I still use a shitton of MP and supportive/deprecative spells.

0 INT wont be a problem since MP pool is based on WIS and the costs dont increase with lower INT. If you havent already, I suggest you to purchase orbital friendship cannon. It is not very expensive and will noticeably reduce your clear turn count, which means faster runs.

I already have it, but is it worth it actually using it? It doesn't damage schoolgirls that much, and it feels like I'd rather be using that spirit just to stay in spirit stance

lowering INT to 0 wouldn't give that much of a benefit, imo. rather, you'll lose a certain amount of SP points for the sake of, uh... negligible ADB boost, i guess.
rather, about that block thing... can we see your gears, please?

it depends *when* you use it. in case of SGs, the biggest effect will be to wipe away all the small fry around them, yep. you can also try to inflict a 1~2 stacks of PA on them and/or to cast Imperil to boost OFC efficiency, but i doubt you'll be able to one-shot them...
