QUOTE(Sushilicious @ Dec 7 2011, 00:35) If you are a melee player, you can do the following without a mace:
1) All arenas up to Trio on BT with a scythe, estoc, longsword, etc (I used to clear the higher end arenas regularly on BT with a bleeder).
2) As for IWBTH, with the current gear that we have, it's not possible to clear any decently long arena on this difficulty.
I agree with this. Although IMO in order to clear higher arena at BT ... Smart-playing, Finesse, and a good preparation & planing are required. * The sad thing is that... The killing speed is, as far as my experience tell me, no different than just using eth mace... And using mace is significantly easier. So, why bother... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) ** Or maybe its just me... since I use lv1 IA and only lv.2 pack rat...

Right, so I have this rather newbie problem.
I just started playing HV, and I can't seem to find a way to earn experience, nor credits.
I've done rounds over rounds of grindfest, yet after each round, the game thoughtfully informs me that I haven't gained any experience.
Somehow, I managed to level up to 1(not sure how, i went to sleep, then the next day I was level 1) and did the first Arena challenge, but I wasn't awarded any experience or credits. (I'm still stuck on 25 credits).
Could I get some hints on how to get myself going on actually grinding the game, instead of simple fighting in vain?
By the way, I'm on Nightmare difficulty. I figured I'd earn exp if I pump it up a bit, no-go.

Is your Stamina over 10? If it's not, then you won't earn Experience or Credits. You gain Stamina at a rate of 20 over the course of a day, so just wait until it's at 99 (or at least over 20) and everything should be fine. http://ehwiki.org/wiki/StaminaThis post has been edited by n125: Dec 7 2011, 12:48

Again, stamina problem. You can get to level 1 because you'll get some experience from ' dawn of a new day' However, right now you can't gain any experience because your stamina is below 10. So....wait until your stamina climbs back to above 10, and you'll be fine. My advice is to wait until you get 99 stamina though, so you can gain the benefit of great stamina everyday.

Thank you both for the information. My stamina is indeed very low. (2) I guess I should wait for a few days before I start grinding. Thank you, again.

Equipment: Pros/cons for the following? power armor (slaughter) vs kevlar (protection) vs shade (fleet or shadowdancer).- Power armor: + High damage, OK defense / - High Burden & Interference, A good piece is quite rare - Kevlar: + Pretty good defense, Easy & Cheap to buy-get, Not so high Bur & Inf / - Doesn't increase damage - Shade: + Increase DMG & Crit, No burden on SD suffix, High resist / - Quite rare & expensive, Unreliable & Not so good defense What do you consider the most important buffs to keep up on yourself?- Heartseeker (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) - Haste

This is probably bad place to ask this, but should I always vendor low lvl stuff? I feel hesistant about just selling things like Fine Eth Longsword of Balance or Shade chest of Fleet (just examples of my ~lvl75 backlog). So, if anyone can confirm that no one will ever want things below 200, I could put my doubts to rest...

people buy "junk" from the bazaar all the time that they are happy to level up. Just because something is lower level doesn't make it junk. I just picked up some boots level 65 that i'm going to keep. Just look at the What a Shame thread

The last time I did Trio on BT with my ethereal scythe, I clocked it to be 12 minutes flat. Nah, mace is actually one of the slower ones. Among scythes, maces, and estocs, assuming all ethereal, the fastest is scythe, then estoc, and finally mace.* *This might not apply on lower difficulties where monsters die in 1-2 hits.

The lv difference (of monster) might have something to do with it. For one, I'm not at the point that estoc (more precisely, PA) would be faster than mace yet, though I did suspect this maybe change in the future. Meh... I'm suck anyway, so... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)

I do all the arenas without multiple legendaries, with what ever I feel like using. Ethereal Scythe or Estoc. When in arenas that are Legendary after legendary, dualwielding is the fastest. In the level 300 arena, I used to use mana elixirs, now I use an illithid scythe.
In arenas without multiple legendaries, I use a 2-handed non-stunning weapon and autocast: Haste Ptotection Spirit Shield Shadow Veil
In arenas with multiple Legendaries, I dualwield and autocast: Haste Spirit Shield
In level 300 arena I use illithid scythe and autocast: Haste Spirit Shield Protection
I also equip 1 spirit elixir here and the rest are godly mana potions-

What should I invest my abilities in as plate user, at very start? Someone told me to not to do exp, and spirit seems useless. Is ele resist any good?

health/mana tank, aura slot. If you go melee you'll want to use overcharge, it adds to your damage.

This is what I can tell you. Do not wear cloth Do not wear plate Use Light armor with as high physical mitigation PERCENTAGE as you can get. Stay alive using Regen(2) I know you don't have good light armor at the start. But If you make a thread in the WTB thread, asking for high physical mitigation light armor, the nice people will most likely give you some for free. I would. It's what I use. Exp, health and mana are all important. I didn't know shit when I started. I would put some in exp. That levels you faster, there's also exp multiplier in bazaar trainer. But overcharge makes you do more damage. I really can't say. Don't believe me anyway. Once you can autocast something. Autocast: Protection and Haste.
