endings are the lasting memory for a game. If the ending is bad thats usually the last thing you remember about the game. sometimes though there can be fun in how you get to that ending

Alot because often I come to care about the main character in a motherly kinda way. If the character ends up getting killed or having a bad ending after everything that breaks my heart.
If I don't like the character, I stop playing long before the end. That's not to say the character has to be a nice person, nor do they need a strictly conventional good end, but if I decide I like them then they deserve some kind of happiness!
