No, definitely not 50m. 20m is possible, but even that is unlikely - most dark mages are using gloves+shoes as their proficiency slots, so there's not a large market for high-end charged fenrir gloves/shoes.

An extremely high base proficiency dark mage with a near-peerless staff can use robe as their proficiency slot more effectively, but there are very few players that meet this criteria (I only know one for certain, and likely 2 more).

I see. I made my comment a little flippantly but that is interesting. I don't want to drag this too off-topic, but if a person ran across something like this on a lark, could they use efficiently use Cap for prof (instead of glove) without losing vital stats?

It would be a little inefficient, but not an awful trade-off. Low-level mages especially may consider using cap as one of their proficiency slots instead of either gloves or shoes, since it's harder to raise your proficiency much above your level before 500.
