I switch weapons depending on if its for cake, normal or arena, and change my armor to more caster friendy equipment for legendaries. Staff + heavy for high efficiency grindan.

so i guess you could say for cake i go heavy knight, for normal paladin, for legendaries rogue. and occasionally for item efficiency er, fuck if i know what you call that, heavy mage or stickadin?

Loadout is of a Red Mage from FFXI with solo gear. 1h with decent proc of bleeding wounds + shield, mix of cloth and light armor (interference < 25 lol...), with, in my case, a pathetic attempt at parry/block + on the shield. My proficiencies suck royally, but my enfeebling deprecating magic is much much higher than everything else I have. My stats are relatively even, with some emphasis on STR, AGI, END, and WIS.

Since there is no partying situations, being on the full magical side doesn't happen much so I basically stick with the above for everything I do without risk of failure (and mentioned somewhere else, I do almost everything on hard). But then again, I barely play HV as it were, especially compared to some of you. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Hell yes, I have finally got myself a working spellsword. After 50 levels of testing random crap. My loadout is now all cloth and an ethereal estoc for high arenas and the ring, 0 interference and 11.2 burden. I still use light and heavy in grinds to keep up the proficiencies.

This just made me all happy-like.

grindacake - dw + heavy
grindanormal - 1h + shield or dw + heavy

mild bleed damage on all specs with piercing damage.

Hell yes, I have finally got myself a working spellsword. After 50 levels of testing random crap. My loadout is now all cloth and an ethereal estoc for high arenas and the ring, 0 interference and 11.2 burden. I still use light and heavy in grinds to keep up the proficiencies.

This just made me all happy-like.

I use the sword part of spellsword most of the time, ie standard mobs and most minibosses. Spells are for minibosses and bosses, and with 0 interference by god I can actually cast them and not wast time and a a turn of face rape on focus. And as an added bonus, 77hp x 21 turn regen.

A few potions of varied quality is more than enough to get me through the 20-25 round boss arenas. I do have what I consider nice equipment though, although I doubt it's much compared to gil and hito's.

Just on the off chance, I'm looking to trade for new gloves and shoes if someone has a nice set.

I love doing stuff like blowing away three enemies with one spell, so I'm sticking with a staff. With that in mind, I consider magic hit chance to be the critical stat, so I got that up to 58.5% with my current (purchased) staff.

It also means that, barring the miraculous appearance of battlecaster armor, I'm stuck with cloth. I can only wish for equipment like marcho's, though! 3/5 items are still cotton for me, and I haven't really seen good stuff on the market.

I wish staffs had something similar to PA, or had a much higher magic damage boost. Right now I can do more magic damage with a rapier or estoc due to PA than I ever could using a staff.

When you light up 5 targets on a nice domino strike with an estoc its an insta-gib on all of them with Soul Harvest.

Yeah, I'm only at 13.3 magic damage bonus. It would be nice to be able to get up around 30.

What's your forbidden prof, your soul harvest seems to do more dmg then mine... although I guess mine is only 20

Er, like 3. I just got the spell and started training it.
Yeah the magic hit chance makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

I guess mind raper is weak to soul dmg....

Seems like it, I only get 2400 or so on other minibosses on a crit. Have you run into anything that's soul resistant?

not that I can think of.
Since Real Life isn't I'm guessing there is anything that is, since that's the only thing I can think of that does soul dmg that isn't a spirit attack.

Oh and Marcho you could swap those gloves for some plate if you wanted to as long as you keep your interference below 20 casting shouldn't be a problem, it would add some nice absorption/mitigation since yours is pretty low, and even with 36 evade you get hit most of the time. Although I don't know what stats those gloves have.
