The cost of an archive is proportional to its size (wiki). The resampled archive in question costs more simply because it is larger than the original archive:

• The original archive has a estimated size of 48.21 MB and costs 1666 GP at 34.56 GP/MB
• The resampled archive has an estimated size of 63.12 MB and costs 2136 GP at 33.84 GP/MB

I know that, but downscaled images aren't supposed to be bigger than the originals. Unless for some reason the resample was upscaled.

The estimate was off. When I downloaded the resampled archive it was only 25mb rather than 63mb.

You can check the data at H@H downloader, and you can see the size of resample one is the same as 1280x.
Sometimes the estimated size really was off, I tried on several galleries and gave me the wrong estimation.

The estimate is just based off an average bytes/resolution that was calculated at some point from existing resamples, so for some types of highly compressible images (large flats and such) it can be off by a lot. It only has to estimate for brand new galleries with files that mostly haven't been viewed yet, so it's not really a problem.

Amended the wiki to reflect this.
