semirecently cake and easy were changed so that critters had the same hp as they do on normal.

so, if you have been playing on say, cake, you should be noticing a slight increase in the time it takes to make a kill. accuracy should be unchanged however.
at least, no changes were listed and my statistical acc and actual numeric damage have kept pretty steady.

Interference is a stat present on all Light and Heavy armor and weapons. It serves as a balance to the better defenses these armors give you by doing three things to your spellcasting: 1) Each full point of interference reduces the damage caused by all offensive spells by 1%; 2) Each point past 20 interference gives you a chance to fail spells outright, before the mob checks to resist them; and 3) Each point past 25 interference reduces the effectiveness of your proficiencies.

AoE spells are spells that hit multiple targets. Each AoE has the exact same type as the single target spell needed to unlock it, and a number of other details apply. AoEs take longer to cast, although each point placed in them reduces their cast time; they also do the full damage of the single target spell to the main target, and a lesser amount of damage to all the other targets. Putting more points into an AoE spell also reduces the cast time of its associated single target spell. AoE spells are affected by interference the same way single target spells are.

Do we know exactly what effect proficiency has on spells other than the handful like shield, haste and sv i've seen explicitly listed?

like in the way we know that prof adds 10% to equip stats and removes 25% b/i per 100

do we know if prof adds x% damage, y% proc chance and z% duration?

Proficiency adds points of % in a ratio depending on which proficiency it is. For example, I believe Tenb said that each point of curative proficiency was worth a .5% increase. As to the exact effects, each spell has its own equation, and Tenb hasn't released those to my knowledge.

tenb said that 200 prof gave cure a 25% bonus, so its 0.125 there.

but yeah i was hoping at some point someone had been enlightened as to how say ele prof effects flare, or divine effects condemn, in a numeric rather than vague "makes it better" way.

The only way you can describe it would be vague, as proficiency for damaging spells can influence damage just as much as, say, a point in int can. There's too many variables to say this much proficiency increases the damage by this amount cause it would only be true for that amount of proficiency and elemental rating. That said, you can make a vague guess at the amount it helps with a percentage, but the increase in damage is only noticeable on a scale larger than just a few points. Basically, unless you feel like staying at the same int while gaining proficiency at a steady rate and mapping the average damage every, say 5 points in proficiency, then don't expect a direct answer, as the only one that can be given is that the higher the prof is the more you'll do.

tl;dr Higher proficiency = greater effect

How can I Montage just one magic prof?
For battle profs it is simple: just wear only the armor whose prof you want to train and no weapon / strip naked and take needed weapon(s) in hands. Is there similarly simple way to focus on one magiks?

Answering a week old question. (Just now started to read this thread.)

Giving Karma and using the Legacy Legendary attack drains the Karma/power bar.

Power Saving causes your Power bar to reset to a higher number than the usual Power 1 after Karma/Legendary use.

Power Regen speeds up the restoring of the Power bar.

Neither saving nor regen have any effect whatsoever on HV.

Power Tank helps to increase your Power level, although is of little value once you pass Power 100. (Of course, increasing your Power does add a little to your HV Spirit Attack.)

Anyone know what the grindfest initiation limit is? I've read threads where people hit the limit but I've never hit the limit myself. (Would be handy to know if say I wanted to jack up magic proficiencies by chugging mana potions while spamming spells then fleeing once out of mana/mana potions :P)

not sure... i havn't had the problem myself but decided to play it safe.

i proficiency grind magic on the low arenas (first 5 er so), you get a free magic heal after so its quite cost efficient as well.

Another question I had was if ethereal weapons do soul damage, does that mean soul rating will give an increase in damage? (for example the 1 3 5% from purple aura)

I do not believe Soul Rating would increase the damage of ethereal weapons; Soul rating exists because we have spells that do Soul damage (at like 100 or 110 or something).

What affects Absorb's ability to catch spells, aside from how many AP you dump into it (hopefully this does increase that, otherwise I've got a 30 turn Absorb that works just as well as a 20 turn)? Is it just Support prof?

Edit:
Similar question - How does Dep prof affect Silence/Weaken, just longer duration? I remember when I used to rely heavily on Weaken, but its been so long and there have been so many changes to magic since then, I'm not sure what I know any more.

When the level of equipment is higher than the actual level of your character, can you still use that piece of equipment, and what do the numbers in equipment's description mean?
