A good block shield can be real satisfying. Nothing like blocking a magic attack. Blocking a Mini-Boss' spell is even more satisfying. And when your shield doesn't work, Absorb.
Block is really the only reason I decided to continue on the sword-and-board fridge path rather than switching to DW. Two good weapons can provide some sweet damage output and high accuracy, but you can't parry nearly enough as you could block with a good shield.

Methinks that Tenboro doth know this, and 'tis the reason why Tower Shields doth be so rare. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I've been staying away from Towers because of the huge Interference they give. I have enough problems trying to cast Silence as it is and I haven't found a Tower with much better stats than my Kite anyway.

NOW I see just why 2handers are so good. And bad. Sure enough, Domino clears the field just nicely (on cake) and procing Bleed on several mobs is just that good... But I do miss A LOT! And, thes mobs starts to hurt me... I know, my equip just that sucks, so until I find better gear, I will stick with more reliable 1h/shield for Arenas.

Average Titanium Katana of Balance Weapon Damage Type Slashing Hit Proc: 24% chance for Bleeding Wound Duration: 4 turns / Damage: 143 per tick Attack Damage Multiplier 22.0 Attack Accuracy Bonus 35.0 Burden 26.0 Interference 9.7 Primary Attribute Bonuses Strength 1.7 Dexterity 2.2 Agility 0.6
Well with this 1 and with a few of the fleet cloth you will get a accuracy bonus of 50% to bad i never use 2h weapon its such waste.

Switching between DW and Sword-and-board. Either way, I stick with this axe for both of them, it makes me drool.
Exquisite Ruby Axe Weapon Damage Type Slashing Hit Proc: 23% chance for Bleeding Wound Duration: 4 (3) turns / Damage: 323 (117) per tick Attack Damage Multiplier 26.1 (15.0) Attack Accuracy Bonus 9.5 (9.0) Burden 10.5 Interference 6.4 Primary Attribute Bonuses Strength 7.3 (2.6) Level 164 / Slot: 1handed / Type: One-handed weapon
It can only get better with time.

Yeahhhhh....there's now a certain someone who I want to die a slow, horrible death because I envy his sweet sweet weapon so badly. ........Oh, wait, Iced Zero, I wasn't talking about you, not at all. In fact, I'll express mail a box of fine pastries to your Real World home address as a peace offering -and you won't have to check them for poison or radioactive material or anything. Well, after all the updates, I still use every weapon style, although dual wield is used least.

Does anyone still use the 1h + shield style?
I have a great shield but it just doesn't seem to be up to par as a style compared to 2h or dual, especially after overstrike got nerfed.

I'd imagine that there still are, but ya with the boost to offhand parry for dual, you can basically get as much parry as you had block before.

Yeah as is, it is about he same, except that dualers get higher damage and they can mix procs. Block can effect magic and parry can't, but that's what absorb is for so you rarely get anything out of the difference.
It doesn't really effect me, I use all styles so I just switch to the one that works best at the moment, just wanted to see if anyone had any redeeming reasons to use 1h+shield.
