Bug report!

There's still something a little funny about Focus and Defend. I can't replicate the problem every time (it seems to depend on what's been used earlier in the battle), but it goes something like this:

Gonna look into that.

QUOTE(Sayo Aisaka @ Sep 6 2009, 18:04) *

Some minor graphical issues

The stats for some equipment items overflow the box (this is using FF 3.5.2, set to use HentaiVerse Font Engine). For example, the Average Silver-tipped Ebony Staff of Nilfheim that's currently in the shop. And the stats box itself is still getting cut off on items at the bottom of the screen.

(And shouldn't it be "Niflheim"? Kids these days just don't know their Norse myths like they used to...)

Should be fixed now. Also the box shouldn't be wandering outside the boundary anymore.

And yea, I corrected the spelling for future drops. But hey, if you can't find more than a single spelling error in the whole game, and an obscure one to boot, I'm gonna be satisfied with that. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Since my interference is just slightly over 26, I should be taking a hit, but it shouldn't be too bad. What I'm worried about are what people are saying about enemies hitting harder. I'll have to try some fights myself to see how it works for me.

Yes, also, I secretly nerfed all hit changes, drop rates, and everything else that's largely determined by luck with the RNG.

If you were wearing heavy and also casting shield, you would logically take a hit depending on the armor's interference. If supportive drops from say 80 to 60, that's 6 points just there.

QUOTE(PandAGruel @ Sep 6 2009, 18:48) *

@Tenboro: what about showing how interference really reduce profociencies(like scaling in items info)

You can that already. It shows up as negatives on the stat screen.

QUOTE(hitokiri84 @ Sep 6 2009, 19:05) *

The nerfed proficiencies with heavy armor are really fucking with my ability to fight the legendaries without resorting to gum and flowers. I just barely scraped by Mikuru with 2 Soul Gems for 460% Overcharge, 6 Mana Elixirs, 4 Health Elixirs, and a (Life-Saving) Spirit Elixir that saved my ass when I was one turn from death. The worst part is my Regen being slashed by approximately 1000 HP regen per cast. My Silence is reduced 7 or 8 turns as well, and my Weaken is reduced 6 turns, so I end up spending far more turns and mana trying to re-proc depreciating effects. So, I guess the whole point of this post is to give a big sarcastic thanks to Tenboro for making me build up my proficiencies to fight legendaries, only to slash them to shit since they can't be used with heavy armor thanks to the high Interference.

Seeing as you still *can* fight them as heavy armor, roughly with the same resources as the mages (i.e. Cyriel) could, I think that was a pretty nice job on the balancing.

QUOTE(eushully @ Sep 6 2009, 20:38) *

The melee should gain back the 10% accuracy loss from previous update. I mean fine we can lose some healing points and supportive, mobs hitting slightly harder we can deal with. However with everything combined together and then you miss 5 times in a row is just ridiculous.

I have to agree wit that.
This is called overdoing things Tenb.

I've been getting about 5% less stuff, down from like 10% and the chance of gear has dropped about half for me as well, and I'd love to get crappy gear too at least I can trash the stuff.

I did not notice any decrease in drops thought. I actualy got armor and 2 swords from 3,4 and 5 arena this morning which was a big surprise . It is true that they were useless and didn't sell for much.

BTW anyone can tell me what is Bubble-gum for?

Thanks

Bubble gum basically makes you kick ass. Shitloads of crits, no misses and stuff, or at least that's what I've heard.

On the matter of the update: Cakegrind is beginning to feel a bit too hard again in my honest opinnion.

Wait, mobs are hitting harder, not just because of supportive prof loss? That wasn't in the notes. Now that would be messed up.

That's the rub, I've noticed an increase in damage and it's not from the interference changes as I have a grand total of just above 21 interference, while mobs are doing around 6-14 more physical damage just on cake. Even the ghosts and cockatrices that would, even at my own level, do 0 damage before are doing the same kind of damage as what a panda my level did before, while the pandas (and other mobs such as tentacle monsters, whales, and peacocks) are doing enough to make me run out of health items before even round 10 (I take three and I could get to ~17 fairly easily, then run cause of oom and not cause of health pots).

I can barely make it to round 50 in a cakefest now, while I could go infinitely before.

Harsh.

I've lost 1.76 points of supportive prof due to interference, and 1 point of absorb from switching a piece of heavy plate out for cloth. that really shouldn't account for the increase in damage i've been taking, which seems to have swond more on the order of +10 to 15 rather than +2 to 5 i might expect from losing a smidge on shield and absorb.

It was about the same when i tried with the plate also, but +2 END and +1 absorb, and about -1.5 absorb from shield. still taking alot more damage, still shouldnt swing like that, as far as i can tell.

Yes, but there's a difference between evening things out and rape.

I'm using all plate of Fine-Superior quality with END 13 above my level (38+9). Cake monsters can still damage me. Jesus.

On my Equipment page, when I scroll over items toward the bottom of my list, the floater box disappears up at the top of the page and I can't read what's in it. The farther down I go on the list, the more the box cuts off at the top of the page. It wasn't doing that before.

Later on edit: Oh, dur, I see it's already been mentioned and it looks like it's been fixed since this post.

while in some ways infinite grind seems off...

think of any rpg you've played. if you have decent equip and passed out of the newbie levels, if you so desire to stab things to death in the newbie area, you can do it pretty much for as long as your attention span lasts, not your hp.

----

aside from that though, i don't really mind increasing the difficulty, its just that i don't know why i'm getting hit so much harder, and i cant place it with any of the listed updates.

If there were any way to not be damaged, that would be severely unbalanced.

I think it would be hard to have a more defensive based build than what I use, aside from pure END.

Non-boss mobs in cakefest shouldn't be able to chip me to death.
