QUOTE(gillian @ Sep 23 2009, 00:39) The round before, I like to kill all the monsters and leave a fire fox or cookie monster. Then I buff up, usually in a whimsical order like godly mana draught, spark, regen, then scroll of shield (or avatar if i'm doing arena on hard). Then I pop the last monster, goto next round, focus and silence. Then beat up the other guys....
...Then it's weaken and slow toying with legendary. I use nerf now over weaken since it lowers monster defense.
Also in your case, I think using a bubble gum would help more than flower vase.
I can't begin to imagine doing any arena that has a legendary on hard. It's enough trouble on normal. I'd have to fill up with all mana elixirs or something.

QUOTE(uth @ Sep 22 2009, 21:04) i just silence and weaken them, kill everything else, I usually start trying to resilience/weaken when it is at 3 turns left incase of resists once all the other stuff is dead its pretty easy to just chip away at their health. And at this point I don't even bother bringing healing items just keep regen up and spot heal if you take a big blast, and use the space for mana items.
The thing is, when I have my heavy armor on, I can slice through everything and get through to the last round no problem with using minimal items and then the Legendary kills me because my magic fails due to interference. But with lighter armor on, I have to regen and cure more frequently and then of course I need more mana to replenish my MP and carrying extra spirit items and exotic items uses up my inventory slots. And then at the last round the mobs weaken me and I take bigger hits and then I run out of HP and MP right when I need it to finish it off. That last round is what gets me. @Gillian. Yeah, I do gear up during the second to the last round to get ready for the finale but then they all come after me in the end round, even when the Legendary is silenced. My weapons are good but they beat me down a bit more with my lighter armor. And all the mini-bosses along the way don't make things any better. QUOTE(DemonEyesBob @ Sep 22 2009, 21:23) Agreed. Mana items and a shielding scroll or two. Also, poison does wonders. Penetrated armor and THEN using poison does even more wonders.
OK, I'll try poison. Sounds like it would work. Do all the arena battles beyond Endgame have Legendaries in them? I can't imagine having to battle a Legendary in each one after that.

Yes. But it really isn't the legendary that's the problem, they don't really get any stronger from endgame to longest journey etc. QUOTE And all the mini-bosses along the way don't make things any better. That's what really gets worse, instead of the legendary. In endgame, the most minibosses you have to face is usually 2 per round. In longest journey, 8 rounds have 2 minibosses and the next 7 rounds have 3 (the final round has 4). The damage and MP usage piles up like you wouldn't believe. edit: @Tens: the order you take out the regular mobs and minibosses can make a big difference too. Out of the regular mobs, Green Slime's Jiggle does ENORMOUS damage to me and horrible rape isn't far behind, but they do so much more damage then the other spells that it's worth it to me to focus on them first if I see their MP is close to being usable. And out of the minibosses, the order of max damage to least damage by their skills are: raper, canuck, cow, and then it really doesn't matter. Taking out those three in that order can reduce the damage I take, and more importantly, reduce the chance of being one-shot by something. Getting decent amounts of damage each turn is at least repairable, but if I get hit by Jiggle for 500 damage and then toddlerguro for 800 damage it won't matter what else happens, I am almost guaranteed dead. @Gillian: Let's be a bit fair here. You have an ethereal weapon, which means you have something with no burden/interference allowing for more heavy armor without as much penalty. Oh, and it means lots more damage to legendaries. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Realistically, I'd have to pack 12 mana elixirs to get the final round of that and stand a chance, and that's not economically viable. I can barely get to round 30 of journey as it is. This post has been edited by DemonEyesBob: Sep 23 2009, 09:23

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) It's true, but those are just bosses (not legendaries (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)), nothing bleed/PA won't take care of (I didn't use either...my weapon selection sucks, tbh). I wear 2x kevlar, 3x heavy (2 plates, 1 chainmail), and I always focus before casting, usually works.

Leaves room for that heavy armor you're wearing. Kevlar = best of its type of armor. It's like light-heavy armor for cloth-light penalty. Look at this shit: Average Silver-adorned Kevlar Breastplate of the Stone-skinned Physical Absorption 1.9 Physical Mitigation 1.3 Magical Absorption 1.8 Magical Mitigation 2.7 Damage Type Mitigations Crushing 3.6 Slashing 4.5 Piercing 0.5 Evade Chance 2.2 Burden 6.2 Interference 5.2 Primary Attribute Bonuses Strength 1.4 Dexterity 1.1 Agility 1.1 Level 36 / Slot: Body / Type: Light armor That's low-heavy mitigation with decent evade and less burden/interference then all other light armor. If it wasn't Silver I'd buy it right now. This post has been edited by DemonEyesBob: Sep 23 2009, 09:37

QUOTE(DemonEyesBob @ Sep 23 2009, 02:51) the order you take out the regular mobs and minibosses can make a big difference too.
Well, this is open to a bit of debate. If a Fire Fox does 10-12 damage per turn while the Green Slime hits for about a 60-70 Jiggle, it is much more beneficial to take out the Fox, since Jiggle only gets used every 10 turns while the Fox can attack for that much every turn, not counting its Burning Tail.

That's true. But the difference in physical and magical damage for me with those specific mobs is much more pronounced. You also run into the problem of suddenly being blasted for 10x the normal amount of damage, which, if you're not careful, will wipe you out. Ie. You're taking 12 damage per hit per mob and you let your hp go below half because it's only 12 damage, then you get hit for 200 and die. ;_; Happens to me every couple of hell+ arenas, since then jiggle will do greater than half my life in damage even on a non-crit. And they seem to like to supercrit me quite a bit on the harder difficulties. More on point, it generally takes two hits for me to kill the average mob, meaning I will usually be saving HP by taking out the heavy casters at the beginning (ghost, peacock, and whale take 3-4 hits, and the damned peacock can use peck with only 1/8 or so of it's mp bar filled >.<) edit: Also, some mobs like the tentacle monster do very large amounts of physical AND magical damage, so taking them out early compared to say, the blue slime or hamster is a no-brainer. Which one is easiest?
I have 3 tokens of blood, and silence and I wanna take a crack.
And should I get rid of my plate so I can actually cast silence?

Probably ManBearPig, but the first four have about the same HP. Yes, use silence. I didn't try to silence a legendary couple days ago and got kill on the first attack.

You can keep your plate if you bring a scroll of life (or two) since you don't have spark. That should keep you alive long enough to make silence catch, or at least survive in case it doesn't. The battles can last forever, so don't forget to check your HP constantly. And I don't think there's really an 'easiest' out of the 1token ones. Although admittedly I've been trying each on increasing difficulty. Manbearpig - Normal (actually pretty easy if you can cast spells without too much interference/resistance) White Bunneh - Heroic (more difficult, but not by much) Mithra - Hell (NOT RECOMMENDED!) edit: also, be sure to re-proc silence several turns before it runs out, since your high interference might require several turns to make it work, and 1 turn of no-silence is all it takes to wipe you out. I DID IT!!! FINALLY! (IMG:[ gannonman.com] http://gannonman.com/image/HV_Tens%20beats%20White%20Bunneh_crop_541620960.jpg) OMG, I killed a White Bunneh in HentaiVerse and I finally cleared Endgame! I used a mix of heavy and light armor and used some Health Elixirs and Mana Elixirs and also a Spirit Elixir and a Soul Stone to boost my overcharge. I did Focus and then used Silence and Poison on it and hit it a couple of times with my spirit attack. Then at the last minute when it came down to either him or me, I used my drained spirit attack and hoped for the best. And thank goodness I won. And yeah, I noticed in the HV bestiary, Dalek, Manbearpig, Mithra and White Bunneh are Bosses, not Legendaries. I guess I got that mixed up. But I think they should be called Legendaries and then have Konata, Mikuru Asahina, Ryouko Asakura and Yuki Nagato be called "Ultra Legendaries" or something like that. But anyway, I was victorious! \o/ This post has been edited by Tenseigamoon: Sep 25 2009, 06:22

QUOTE(Cronauron @ Sep 23 2009, 06:57) I managed to kill a Mithra once, but I was also about level 5 at the time. All this strategy talk has me looking forward to when I'm of a high enough level for skills so I can stand a chance again.
I have hard time believing you could kill a mithra at lvl 5, it was most likely a manthra. QUOTE(Tenseigamoon @ Sep 25 2009, 06:20) I DID IT!!! FINALLY! I have no idea what the problem is and why I can't kill the Legendary/Boss monsters as easily as everyone else (which is hilarious if you knew my history with the Legendaries). I wouldn't need to use Elixirs in Endgame with my heavy armor on but I need them with the lighter armor to get me through in the last round, and I only wear the lighter armor so I can do magic attacks against the Legendary. I guess I just have shitty equipment. Too bad there's all that bullshit with spells failing if we choose to wear heavy armor. This post has been edited by Tenseigamoon: Sep 25 2009, 08:25
