I wrote a lot but then erased it all. How about this then: just leave your WTB closed. That might not be so bad. You still accept low level equipments for sale through your auction, right? The trashier stuff should be just that, trash. You've built up enough, you don't need anymore.

Remember that the game got easier for low level players just one year ago, so we are seeing a gradual increase in legendary low level equipment. More stuff is becoming trash and should be bazaared.

This may also affect low level equipment pricing in general. They should probably be lower in price this year than last year, and proper pricing should stabilize in one more year.

If you reopen your WTB, do so with that in mind. The minimum requirements should be stricter than before.

I already have that in mind yes. I'm also one of the first players who said "this won't end up good tenboro" when that one update with monster HP scaling came out. But bitching about it isn't gonna fix anything. Being always more strict and the current situation are the direct consequence of the market flooded with always more equipment.

Automatic pass. Peerless is beyond rules. Not necessarily worth a lot, but beyond the rules nonetheless.

Decondelite, have you ever thought about adding some sort of extension to the auctions the way some of the others have, to prevent sniping? I know in the rules it's 'tolerated within a certain limit' but goddamn, I gotta say being sniped by the same guy for the nth time, within 14 minutes of the auction closing is seriously disheartening. I wish I could stay up into the middle of the night to to bid - the only reason I'm awake right now is because I set an alarm to bid, it's just I slept past the end of the auctions LOL

Like, extending it for 30 minutes if someone bids in the last 30 minutes. Or extending it an hour if they bid in the last 15 minutes.

If this is something you've thought of and just elected to not implement it, don't worry. I'm just salty.

Edit: Rereading your rules, it seems that you've probably put a fair amount of thought into not having this "unlike Kedama's and Super's there is no extended time... bid accordingly" so, you know, no worries. Just ignore this

It's not the first time someone gets bitter regarding players who snipe at the last minute. I do understand how it feels, I do have thought about a way to discourage such behaviors, and that's how I came to imagine the system of quick bids.
But then, when it's about not wanting to bid as much as the quick bid... at least you know that when it happens, it's the case for both you and the sniper.

That being said, OK I will add an extended time for late builds, even though I'm not very found of that. I'll extend the bids for 2 hours if a bid occured during the last hour. I've got nothing to lose (and the buyers either) by adding such a system. And of course I will probably issue strikes to those who bid at the very last moment consistently, though it has never happened yet.

And the day I will (finally) have the time for it, proxy bids will be a thing.

The armor and helmet don't have any relation with you.

Tbh just quick bid it if you were that desperate. Since your last bid was already so high and it was only 5 bids at max away if the other bidder continued bidding at the same night.

Imo quick bidding is good enough for so called sniping issue, and it's better than proxy bidding. Adding 1 or 2 hours extension doesn't really help if the auction end time lands on midnight for a bidder.

I just wanna say congratulations to decondelite because I noticed you sold quite a bit of items of both high and low value over the last two auctions. That means you are pricing your items well, perhaps you merely had a random dry spell previously.

Another benefit of the hybrid auction/shop system I had overlooked long ago when you started this, is that if you price an item too low, the auction format may restore the proper price.

I genuinely think it's fine. IMO, the benefits go beyond just preventing items from being sniped. A two hour extension is nice. If there are two, hell, three... Four people bidding on an item, and all four understand that rule is in place, it encourages everyone to bid higher faster. Better for you, better for the seller, and in the end, better for the bidders even if they lose out on more money. A classic bidwar will hit the quick bid price pretty fast, but take one where two or three folks bid, and then all the bids go quiet when they hit a certain point, like 3.5 million. Nothing for 24 hours, then it hits 3.75 million in the last few minutes. That's fine, but with the extension the folks who might have bid in the last minutes will bid earlier. Even if they don't, 2 hours is a good enough time to prop that over 4 million. We learned in this thread (not like we needed it to be confirmed, but regardless) folks will stay up for an item they really want.

Anyways, those are my thoughts on it. If you want to get more out of your items for yourself and the seller, it's absolutely a move they will like. A lot of times, if people want to be frugal, they have a sort of 'internal cap' on what they're willing to bid right off. If that gets hit, they'll save they're last bid or two for the closing moments of the auctions. So what I'm saying is, that scenario is lessened. Because if they do continue to bid that way, they'll still be outbid. That's still a win for the auction and seller. If they realize what's up and bid normally, then others can bid up to whatever maximum they want to bid to, and it's likely the item will go much, much higher than before. That's an even bigger win for the auction and seller. It also prevents people from being salty. Sorry for bringing that argument in here LOL

EDIT: Randomly, this is kind of funny - Decondelite, I've been waiting for days for you to send me that Power Helmet I thought I won in the auctions. So I went back and realized I actually also got sniped in the last minutes for that item as well. I think everyone can admit that if you bid within the first day of the auction "ITEM START", and not a single person bids for 99.9% of the time, and then bids the MINIMUM in the last 4 minutes of the auction, that is kind of shitty. Shitty for the person who had the item for the entirety of the auction, shitty for the auctioneer, and shitty for the seller. Not at least allowing it to go to bidwar - regardless of the 'quick bid' price being there or not - is kind of lame.

This is less likely to happen because it will drive the auction away from one of it's purpose where there isn't a roof:
In a general way, these auctions are designed to help low/mid level players acquiring materials and equipments in adequation to their needs and their modest incomes...
