tl;dr: pixivpixivpixivpixiv oh, a doujin! pixivpixivpixivpixivpixiv
I browse this site nearly every day. Somewhere in the dusty, unreliable halls of my memory, I remember days when I went to the front page, and most of the galleries were doujinshi. Books someone actually bought and scanned, badly or not.
Fast forward a little bit. LWND arrived with his "lets rip lores galleries from other sites for fun and profit" masterplan. It was annoying, but well, for someone who briefly used dial-up and still used a 1280x1024 monitor in 2017, scans were still scans.
These last few days, every time I browse the front page it's nothing but 4-5 pages of pixiv art. I mean, sure, there are a few noteworthy gems here and there, but the vast majority of it doesn't interest me. If these jokers are trying to wean people off their porn addiction, it's probably working. From the user's perspective, what are they supposed to do about this? There's a filter for languages, there's a hide thumbnail function with tag flagging, but there's nothing you can do about low-quality uploads?
This is a problem. Here are some possible solutions.
-allow tag flagging to be used with "uploader:NAME" tags. In other words, the user will be able to hide galleries from uploaders they're not interested in.
-put a soft cap on the amount of gp earned per day, to discourage people from uploading whatever they can put their hands on.
-make a new category for pixiv/nijie stuff and make all categories give the same amount of gp. [otherwise uploaders 'accidentally' mislabel things for more gp]
-blanket ban on pixiv art. probably too draconian, but just putting it out there
If nothing changes, I think I'll stop frequenting the front page and just search for doujins after comiket, etc.

Treat them just like other galleries/tags you don't like - if you don't like them, don't look at them. If seeing them in search bothers you, you can exclude the imageset category, or you can blacklist galleries with "pixiv" in the title, or you can blacklist the uploader(s) who post them.
Rule changes are not going to happen.

It's not in the image set section though, all of these pixiv scrapes are being posted in the artist cg category dozens of times over, and it's kinda really annoying. I wouldn't mind at all if all of these uploads were sent to the "image set" section, because like you said, I can easily exclude that category. But the artist CG set is really nice aside from this constant bloat of 4-10 image pixiv uploads.

Yup, this is definitely a "you" problem, you and anybody/everybody who doesn't like.....whatever......getting uploaded that the site says is okay to upload are just going to have to deal with it. I don't go to pixiv under normal circumstances, or any of the other places people are finding stuff to bring here and upload, so those folks are doing me, at the least, a big favor uploading content, whether I just love every single bit of it or not.

Half of this is my personal preference, but the other half of it is a usability problem.
Categories/language filters/tag flagging are ways to let users hide stuff they know won't interest them, so they won't waste their time.
Time is attention. Active taggers are probably a small fraction of the whole reader population. (As a data set of N=1, I mostly tag my own galleries and nothing else.) If there's a flood of pixiv galleries, that means actual doujins/cgs aren't getting as many eyeballs, which means over the long run things will be less well tagged.
@svines85 Just because it's okay to upload, doesn't mean it's a good idea. If you have time, take a look under the "western" category. Half of it is artist galleries. Try searching for naruto? You get a 200 or 300 page gallery with maybe 3 naruto pics in it. Is that your idea of an enjoyable experience?
@Maximum_Joe I appreciate the thought, but I usually browse in thumbnails mode, so the pagecount is visible. I only put up this topic because I realized I had gone through 2-3 pages(50results each) where there was only a handful of stuff over 20 pages.

It's not my place to question how Tenboro runs their site, which is to say, if the site says it's okay to upload, it is okay. As a member of the site, if I thought I was seeing something seriously wrong, I've got the right to speak up and see what everyone thinks about it, which is just what you've done, no problem. After that though, yeah, then it's just on me to deal with whatever it might be (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) And the Naruto thing, well, that specific scenario you describe just sounds like a tagging thing, not an uploading thing, and tagging's a non-stop effort, it's just the way it is/gonna always be, you know that.

QUOTE(marzipan @ Nov 25 2017, 03:43) Time is attention. Active taggers are probably a small fraction of the whole reader population. While this is true, it's also true that most tags on most galleries are correctly tagged, especially for the gallery's prime fetish (if any). If you ever spot tags that you're sure are bad (such as if they don't pass presence), post them here to make them disappear: https://forums.e-hentai.org/index.php?act=S...view=getnewpostQUOTE(marzipan @ Nov 25 2017, 03:43) (As a data set of N=1, I mostly tag my own galleries and nothing else.) I'd be willing to bet that, past a (very low) water mark, popularity is inversely proportional to the average tag accuracy of tags in a gallery, rather than directly proportional. QUOTE(marzipan @ Nov 25 2017, 03:43) @svines85 Just because it's okay to upload, doesn't mean it's a good idea. Indeed, but just because it might not be a good idea doesn't mean it should be against the rules. Discrimination based on "quality" is a subjective slippery slope. Feel free to use the API to automatically hide (or show) galleries above or below a certain filecount. It's really easy.

It's like telling a Record store to stop stockpiling Rap or Rock music because you like none of them, but 99% of the other shoppers do. Never.Gonna.Happen.
I kinda agree that alot of Pixiv is garbage, but be glad that not EVERYTHING from Pixiv gets reposted here. Alot of the time the gems overweight the garbage... just like in a Record store!

So we didn't have it. Then people made script for it. Then it become a mainstay feature. But do people use it? kinda. The ones who used it solve their problem, but some people still complain instead of using the tools they have
