I used to have it all set up, but when I logged in to see what had changed all my equipment was not set up anymore. As I said it has been a while.

I'm not sure what style I want to play as, I think I was playing as a mage, as I have a bunch of mage equipment in my inventory.

Ah, yeah i remember that did happen when 10bo did change the ability system. Good times. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) But at your level it is not the best idea to play as mage. I would suggest 1H for coming back into the game and decide later if you want to play another style. And if you follow my suggestion, you best star in equip a 1H weapon with a shield and a full set of power/heavy armor. After that you should set the important abilities and dont forgot to slot them. And at your level, now that i think about it, the best would be, ignore Int and set everything else equal. For the start that should be enough.

I've already read everything on the wiki about it before posting, and your answer didn't really address my question. So I'll rephrase my question a little better: Are the buffs increaseing your stats come into play before or after the penalty from interference and burden? If it's before, then it would mean casting haste while you have more than 75 burden would be pointless, right?

No, Burden and Interference kick in before all the cast buffs. So Haste, Heartseeker and Shadow Veil are pretty much guaranteed and applied as layers.
Actually, the wiki does answer that question, if you analyze the respective formulae. But I agree that it's not necessarily an easy thing to do for everyone, as it does require a certain level of mastery in maths.

Specifically... the evade section explicitly answers the question and explains why, without even needing to analyse the formula.

However, the burden's malus is applied to the overall chance to evade, while shadow_veil applies a base evade in battle that cannot be negated by Burden.

Well, the Cotton Cap of Warding you should salvage, itself is worthless, but it gives you a High Grade Cloth, the Gossamer Cap on the other Hand, is outdated and Unassigned Equipment, i wouldnt be surprised, if a collector would give you quite something for it.

Well, for the heavy armor, just use any exq heavy pieces you have to make a full set and just use superior if you dont have a full exq set. It does not matter too much, because now that i think about it, i guess your whole equipment is pre 0.82 anyway and should be replaced asap with new dropped equipment.

Yes, when you play 1H, all that Int does give you are a few spirit points, but at your level, they dont matter that much.

Well, general does look good, but you still have to slot them. Just make a left click on them, when they appear on top you know that they are sloted and by that active. You should also set all abilities in one handed and heavy armor.

For supportive i suggest better haste, stronger spirit, better heartseeker, better regen, better spark (that i suggest that to a new player doenst mean i use it myself) better protection and one of the spike shields, personally i prefer the flame spike shield.

Oh, i just did notice you dont have any ability points left, so i hope you have enough of them, if not you maybe should train a few level of Ability Boost to get enough.

i actually have 290, they were just already spent. i reset so i'll put them into the areas you suggested. i have 64 levels in ability points in the training area.

Well, that should be enough and you may also want to set some points at Deprecating in weaken and imperil, i didnt mention them before because they are compared to other abilities lesser important, but still usefull. And dont forgot the use the Auto-cast Slots you have. Hm, with four i suggest use them for Spark of Life, Haste, Protection and Spirit Shield.

From what he listed, most are old but not obsolete.
The obsoletes I notice are just two gossamers and an ebony staff.
Well that's at least based just on name, stats wise there are some stats here and there that won't be able to appear on current equipment generation. though I'm not really sure only that would make it fetch much.

But, he might have some more random things, as afaik he only list equips that looks good to be used.

im getting desperate for charged gear right now, do any extra elemental points above 1.0 prof matter? if not im just going to pay for some low rolled charged gear.

right now im aiming to replace 2 of my pieces with charged elementals so i will have 1.0 prof and 3 radiant pieces.

dunno if im going to be able to do pffest without heavily forging armors too cause my EDB is only going to be around 260% and MDB around 4.8k
