Is capacitor crappy even on a mage? What would you say is the best second potency for mage in general?

Yes it's just something deceptive.
You can benefit a little bit from it when you use mana elixirs but it's very negligible.
In my impression any proof is ok for mages except dark and holy.

For one handed weapons, is slaughter always the better choice? Compared to other modifiers e.g. Banshee

For 1H yes, slaughter is imo always the best choice. Banshee is completly useless. I would prefer of nimble or of balance long before i would even think about using of banshee.

Well, yeah. Mage is usual the endgame style, but that doesnt mean that there not people who dont play as mage even in endgame. Just do what you have the most fun with.

I don't know about others but despite having a high holy mitigation and flame spike shield, holy and fire elements are still high on the list of damage taken at the end of each battle. So, for my part I wouldn't say it's undesirable.

My specific mitigation :
4.0% fire + Flame spike shield 5
20.0%cold
16.0% elec
12.0% wind
20.0% holy
4.0% dark

And my damage taken for PFGF is like:
Elec>Fire>Wind>=Cold>=Holy>>>>>>>Dark

I can say dark is nearly useless because I am only taking one or two dark hits from every 10 GF.

Just change your equipment slot, reforge and switch back. Tbh when i actually IW an equipment piece i also wear them in another equipment slot to i cant salvage them by mistake. For me it would be: Elec > Fire > Cold = Holy > Wind > Dark.

My mitigations aren't that different from yours. The biggest difference would be that my fire mitigation it's a little bit higher while my elec one it's in 0's.

I guess that each player needs to track their damage before aiming for specific mitigation on their equipments.
