Hey guys, quick question. As far as dark/holy mages go, what's better? A destruction staff, or a heimdall/fenrir staff?

I'm assuming willow/oak because of counter resist? How much of a detriment is it to run a katalox staff then? Is there a reason why only holy is better with heimdall and not destruction? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Yes. I don't have accurate data but the impact should be great especially if you are going to play non-imperil. You will lose at least 50% damage if resist occur and since you need 5~10 blows to kill a monster there is no space for compromise. QUOTE Is there a reason why only holy is better with heimdall and not destruction? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Simple, oaks don't have destruction suffix. QUOTE(Basara Nekki @ Mar 4 2019, 15:49) I copied this from another thread: It works? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) I always heard that Fiery Staff had to be Redwood. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) It's not surprising he's going non imp fire with DDIX. No counter resist is a serious disadvantage for redwoods that I picked a willow instead. I am cold instead for fire but the situation should be the same.

QUOTE(Insania @ Mar 4 2019, 18:33) the low-level one. Because that lv500 sucks by the time you reach lv 400 so you can soulfuse. Both aren't great, but at least the 1st one you can use.

Interesting. So it means that 13,59% Counter-Resist can be better than: Elemental Proficiency (Redwood) 8,29 > Elemental Proficiency (Oak) 6,45 Fire Spell Damage (Redwood) 21,78 > Fire Spell Damage (Oak) 18,56 Assuming they both have the same prefix. So, is Redwood only good if it has the prefixes Destruction, Elementalist and Surtr (or Niflheim)?

First thing non imp elemental is for ultrarich only. I doubt if it is any viable without DD7+. Why redwood is best match for Fire/Cold is simply Fire/Cold don't match with willow(no MDB). For Wind/Elec redwood is completely inferior to willow. Redwood provide more prof but imperil elemental mages can get enough prof even with willow+shoes slot. Only destruction suffix is preferable. EDB suffix is simply inferior to MDB suffix in most cases. Prof suffix- I don't really see demand for it. It can bring ~0.8 prof factor without any cotton but that's all. Does anyone keep track of equipment condition drain? My PFFESTs are usually around low 40s condition drain each time I do it, but for some reason the one I just finished took around 82-86 condition... wasn't defeated (completed it), didn't trigger spark of life any more than usual (don't think it has any effect on equipment wear anyways), #monsters was about the same... Just a random 2x of the usual condition drain on everything lol.

Maybe you hadn't repaired it from the last fest? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

Brain kinda tired right now lol. I'll try more later and see what happens. Might be hard to reproduce if it's not just a brainfart though.

Is full forging the staff a necessity for arenas as well? As I am building my mage gear, I thought of trying out with this staff I just got https://hentaiverse.org/equip/182420332/a75482ff17And some plain phase pieces. At least the Mdb is high enough to be around 9% leg mdb, but is it waste of resource to forge it cuz it is not gonna work anyways? What would be the minimum forge needed for making this staff viable for a while to cleqr up to pfdwd? Since it is mag, I dont plan to get p5s4 on it lol

It's not something like minimum requirement but more is faster. QUOTE And some plain phase pieces. You can try ~50 MDB, ~30 EDB&prof. I will suggest you at least get Pene5. QUOTE(KamuiSeph @ Mar 4 2019, 20:52) Wasn't like the recomended prof factor ~0.7-~0.8? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) 0.144 Proficiency Factor Change your gloves to elementalist (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) This post has been edited by qr12345: Mar 4 2019, 22:58
