But like I was wondering if salvaging and forging some cheap equipment is a thing to get your forge level up.

Never did it. Although Wispy Catalyst and Low-Grade Material are inexpensive, I've always found it a waste of credits to do this procedure.

My forge level went up quickly because I made upgrades up to level 13 on the equipment I used, and every time I changed a part, I repeated the process. Well, it's true that it consumed a lot of credits, but I ended up using those equipments for quite some time. So I think it was worth it. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

Oh, and just as a curiosity, if there were no 50 level limit for the Forge Level, my current level would be 118. That's because when you get to level 50, when you hover over the Forge Level experience bar, the first number (current amount of experience) stays at 0, but the second (amount of experience needed for the next level) keeps increasing. In my case this second number is at 29750.

Well... Let's see.

Based on the forge calculator... Seems like getting 1 Forge EXP is worth about ~43.3 credits.
(That's getting 5 upgrades across the board on some crap rapier/leather/cloth piece)
You get most of the low grade cloth/leather/metals back....

Taking salvage into equation it seems to be abouuuut:
13.5C per 1 forge EXP.

You'd need 249,750 forge EXP to go from lvl 22 to max.
That's ~3.4m credits.
Worth?

Notably, according to the wiki forge upgrade factors are logarithmic, the early levels are the most important. Wouldn't worry too hard about being in a rush to max forge level... unless you're a mage, in which case maybe those smaller optimisations are make-or-break, I wouldn't know (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Yea, the main reason I'm trying to get my forge level up is because of maging haha.

from what i remember, my forge level got quickly up by trying just to upgrade to the max the prof stat from a few pieces, so do that first, which should be cheaper since no phazons required, then upgrade other stats

I'm kinda torn between investing a lot into temporary cold mage...
Or spending a little bit more for full slaughter + fully forged rapier...
Like, my rapier is nearly done (just need a few more forge levels + waiting on Kadokura to come back for IW).
Armors all done (except juggernaut, 3 pieces still have no potencies)
And need some more mats to upgrade shield....

Or... Do I just go and buy mats for my cold phase pieces and buy a decent elementalist piece...? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Well just invest some into your prof cotton and rest into your 1H set maybe? I don't know how much you want to forge your phase gears (even though these crazy rich players forge theirs to 50~60 XD), but they are too costly with phazon and stuff esp if it's going to be temporary.

How does your 1H set look like btw? I'm kinda curious (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I'm trying to do a leg rapier/shiled+ mag power slaughter, but it's taking sometimes for me to get all the soul fragments (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Yeaaah, I was thinking for the time being, just 5 on all of em, or maybe 10. But no more than that :S

And although I wanted an ethereal (to get holy/dark strike on it)
The arctic in super's auction looked much better.

And I got it for 1.5m

lolol yea you paid way too much for that one...My whole set cost me like 1m, rapier(60/66), shield(67 sde), and mag slaughter with adb 90%+. I might make some more investment later, but it'll be like really really later, and when I do that I might go for something really really good lol, at least peerl quality for rapier and shield =)

Same here.
I obtained forge level 50 by forging to the brim my shortsword, my staff and with a decent amount of forging of few of my mage clothes.

It's not that hard to achieve.

Holy=Hallowed Oak staff of Heimdall
Dark=Demonic Willow staff of Destruction

Yes.
I don't have accurate data but the impact should be great especially if you are going to play non-imperil.
You will lose at least 50% damage if resist occur and since you need 5~10 blows to kill a monster there is no space for compromise.

It's not surprising he's going non imp fire with DDIX.
No counter resist is a serious disadvantage for redwoods that I picked a willow instead.
I am cold instead for fire but the situation should be the same.
