QUOTE(Desynchronizer @ Dec 2 2018, 11:55) So I've got this question: how does one play a 1h mage build? What difference is there between 1h mage and the 'usual' 1h heavy build? I'm thinking about trying out mage(currently using 1h) but I'm not sure how to begin.
That really depends on whether you are serious about going mage in the future. If you are not planning to go mage soon, then I'd advice getting a legendary fiery (or arctic) wakizashi of battlecaster (or nimble) and a buckler of barrier (or battlecaster, if you went nimble waki). And then get 1-2 cottons of elementalists and 3-4 phases of surtr (or niflheim). For cottons, frugal legendary is preferred, but any legendary with decent proficiency will do. For phases, either legendary or radiant magnificents would work (legendary is better for survival, high-roll radiant mag with 3 PABs will have a bit more firepower). Then you just make sure you have all the imperil abilities maxed and set up a script in a way that makes imperil -> spells on monsters easy. If you are planning to go mage, then you should really decide on an element first and then build for mage. All you would need for 1h mage from that mage baseline is to just buy an appropriate waki/buckler. This post has been edited by magiclamp: Dec 2 2018, 19:14

QUOTE(magiclamp @ Dec 2 2018, 18:01) About what? The fact that it increases base mana? The fact that draughts/pots recover a percentage of base mana? Or the fact that spell costs are not affected by base mana?
But EE doesnt change Base Mana. Afaik it is just a bonus to the base mana just like VV to base Health, or did this also change in one of the updates and i am just not aware of it? QUOTE(magiclamp @ Dec 2 2018, 18:10) appropriate waki/buckler.
A waki? Really? Is it because the parry? This post has been edited by Uncle Stu: Dec 2 2018, 19:26

Oh, interesting... Apologies if I'm wrong there - I had thought it was increasing the base mana rather than just adding to total mana! If it's just a bonus of 10% base mana, then yes, it is considerably less useful. Yeah, waki for the higher parry. I can see rapiers also work, but it would be strictly worse than waki of similar rolls, since only physical damage for 1h mage (other than OFC) is from counters.

I like battlecaster for 1h. Mainly because of the name. But both work. So battlecaster is far superior because much cooler.

Shield has more effect on defense/mana conservation/magic accuracy than waki. So comparing battlecaster waki+barrier buckler to nimble waki + battlecaster buckler, I'd think the former has more defence at the cost of higher mana cost/lower accuracy. Probably fairly comparable - I'd think battlecaster waki+barrier buckler is better since mana isn't that big an issue on 1h mage (and higher defense will reduce mana usage on heals).

QUOTE(Tenboro @ Jul 26 2015, 03:09) - Vigorous Vitality, Effluent Ether and Suffusive Spirit now increase the corresponding base vital by 10% instead of increasing the maximum vital by 25%. This makes them more useful since they now affect regeneration instead of just providing a bigger tank. It also increases the potential for HP/MP tank, so the effective max values will in many cases increase.

As I was trying to confirm how EE works, I think I got a slightly more complete formula compared to the wiki's "Magic Points = (10 + Level + WIS) * MP Tank * effluent_ether".
I think it should be:
Base MP = (10+level+WIS)*EE Bonus (which is 1 without the perk and 1.1 with the perk). This is the amount that potions and draughts apply to.
Total MP = Base MP * (1+ MP Tank + Armor Ability Bonus + Capacitor Bonus)
I think I'm still a bit off (by 2 MP when I plug in my stats) but the above should be better than the current wiki formula.

I feel like charged/radiant Niflheim (or even other elements) are not that expensive nowadays. A 95% EDB radiant freyr gloves of mine just sold for 1.5M at Super's auction T.T That being said, I think it's not a bad idea to forge to 10 until you get something better (especially since your funds probably are more efficiently spent on upgrading other slots).

Someone please remind me.
Is there still a requirement to post to help the game in someway.
I can't remember if it still exists.
If it does, what is the requirement?

1. Equipment with better quality have higher stats. See Equipment_Ranges2. The answer could be long so I am just mention some main points. Elemental (Wind,Elec,Fire,Cold) spells have higher casting speed and less MP consumption. Holy and Dark spell have higher base damage and can deal DoT damage. Monster generally have higher resistance for elemental and lower resistance for holy and dark, but imperil have higher effect for elemental(compared to holy and dark), so elemental mages usually play at imperil style(=cast imperil on all monster). Holy and dark mages can play without imperil. This post has been edited by qr12345: Dec 3 2018, 06:32

Price of gear as well: holy is ridiculous expensive but is in the end the fastest. Dark non-imperil play (radiants) is very expensive to get going. Dark imperil-play (full charged) is actually quite good as well. Best imperil play is Wind or Elec. Full charges is king. But will start working good with far less optimal gear. Cold, i've played cold until 500. Works very good for imperil, just a bit slower in end-state than Wind/Elec/Dark. Fire, nobody likes fire (but don't tell him to his face). A bit slower than cold, but very similar. QUOTE(mutsdhr @ Dec 3 2018, 07:45) Hi there ! I kinda started playing again after 3 Years or so ! Thx in advance for your advice ! at your level you don't need shielding plate, just a SDE 80%+ block force shield. That's all the defence you need for Fest. Your rapier and armor are perfect (or close enough). For Festing the Grind, just add more Slaughters to speed up things. Chaos tokens, yeah those are nice. Playing in lottery is a very small chance of getting them. Grindfest with TokenIII is much more effective. Most rich players switch to mage just to speed up the grinding in PFUDOR-fest. But a good 1h build will work, just a bit slower. If you want to switch to mage, I have some nice full forged gear for sale (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)

At what percentage for the gift aspect for monsters should I stop at since they cost more and more chaos tokens with each upgrade?
Also, which stats should I definitely upgrade to max or a certain level so that my spending is cost-effective? I remember how someone said not to upgrade everything and just focus on several specific ones.
Lastly, at what level should I stop my monsters at, since it takes quite a few crystals to level up so many monsters? The wiki mentioned that the monsters start giving high-grade materials around somewhere in the 500s. Should I just level them up to where I no longer get low-grade materials, since there doesn't seem to really be a market for them?
