QUOTE(descartesR @ Oct 6 2018, 09:07) I have a question, point 11 in the OP says I shouldn't mix up items, but what if I dont have a full light armour set. I only got light gauntlets and boots so can I fill the rest with some heavy armour? I'm using 2h weapon as the advice page suggests.
If you take a look at the Equipment Shop every so often, you can find pieces of Average equipment with the Level Unassigned description, which you will be able to equip. You can also browse the hentaiverse forum WTS section and look for shops that offer newbies a helping hand, with freebie kits and decent starting equipment. They will often have a [FREE] description right at the beggining. Hope this helps. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

QUOTE(descartesR @ Oct 6 2018, 15:57) Thanks, I'll try to replace each piece as I get higher. I know about the free shop but the rules say I needed 5 posts and most of the items are way higher level and I dont think I have enough to soulfuse it.
I still have some low level equip (mostly Superiors and a couple Exquisites) that I wanted to scrap or donate, but I never came around putting up a shop for that. They are a bit high for you now (around 80 to 150), but these two here are leather and <50, if you want them free just tell me and I'll send you (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Lv. 6 Superior Leather Leggings of DampeningLv.43 Superior Leather Breastplate of Warding

I've been looking over my weapons and armor inventory, and I've found some soulfused ones that I don't use anymore. I know that they can't be traded or sent to auction, but is there anything I could do with them?
Also, for soulfused equipment, is it better to salvage them for materials or should I sell them at the bazaar?

When it is something that brings your HG Cloth or HG Wood or when you did forge it. Salvage it, everything else goes to the bazaar.

+1. But also consider if you had used any materials to upgrade - 90% of what you used to upgrade can be recovered via salvage. For some equipment even that will still be lower than bazaar value, but worth checking to be sure.

So I got the news that mage is not very effective till you hit 310 and get no turn Imperil, but... I have a quick question. I have one persona that I left as a mage and trying it out... I'm having difficulty clearing simple random encounters. Or like 20 rounds in Grindfest... On normal difficulty. I seem to just run out of mana immediately. Beyond having obsolete gear (atm, looking to buy better stuff after my auction ends :0 shameless plug) Is there anything else I'm doing wrong? I followed the advanced wiki guide on stats and abilities and the like. I'd appreciate any advice if I missed something super obvious or something [ i.imgur.com] My Stats Page[ i.imgur.com] Abilities #1[ i.imgur.com] Abilities #2I know I should be reading the shit out of the wiki to figure this out on my own but there's just so much info there and it's so scattered and I'm lost like hell. I can't figure out this spirit thing either. There's like a page on spirit stance but I'm still confused about all these bars where it used to be just HP and MP

Well that's the thing, I'm on normal difficulty. I have decent, albeit obsolete, gear. I should be able to do 10 rounds of grindfest without potions, no? On normal difficulty I mean I know I have obsolete gear and prob not the best ability selection but. I used to clear hundreds of levels on high difficulty no problems. I have "To Kill a God" cleared on Nightmare. Shit I probably wouldn't last the first 5 rounds now. Is it all that equip dependent?P.s. I am not "starting" to "mage". I am simply trying out my mage persona This post has been edited by (Cheater) KamuiSeph: Oct 7 2018, 10:11

Is it a matter of abilities? Gear? Stats? Just the fact that it is holy?? What are all mobs holy resistant? Edit: Ok, so if I respec all abilities to elemental will I be able to last longer? Staying with the same gear? Or if I buy better gear for holy, will I be able to last longer? Staying with the same abilities? This post has been edited by (Cheater) KamuiSeph: Oct 7 2018, 10:30

I play full mage. From lv400 I played Cold, from lv500 I now play Dark. Mana Potions: I use them as soon as they cooled down. I buy them 10000 at a time. Mages consume a lot of mana in current HV. But potions are cheap and enough to keep it up, as long as you use aether shard on your staff + mana draught. In current HV, mage is difficult to get going. Monsters are strong. You will die. So you need Lots of Firepower. Which you don't have. You can achieve 'normal' with cheap mage gear. But not with crap gear. And, normal sucks. Bad drops, bad income, bad exp gain. My advice: go for 1h for a while, and get higher level, then get good mage gear. Don't read the entire wiki, just the ' advice' and ' advice advanced' pages.

Yeah I'm definitely going to be buying 1h rapier and power armor (after my auction and I get some credits). Was just wondering about mage in general. So you just spam MP pots on cooldown huh. how about for 1h and mana pots? Still have em going at all times? Is it now just part of the meta?

I can't figure out this spirit thing either. There's like a page on spirit stance but I'm still confused about all these bars where it used to be just HP and MP staff damage is unnecessary, it boost ADB not MDB, and you should not whack things when maging. you don't use drain, the day people not using potion is far long gone, everybody here are now having some degree of porn potion addiction. so better, faster drain, ether, spirit theft could be dismissed. you don't use weaken, unless maybe on RoB or some late bosses, against normal monsters, the time and mana used for those are better off for dealing damage. and the most important thing, those abilities need to be slotted to the active abilities, else they means nothing. about spirit : mainly for buffering damage via spirit shield, for melee also used for spirit stance (along with overcharge). so you need that better spirit ability.

Thanks Fudo!
Can I ask, what is this "active ability" thing? I tried wiki on it but I can't find any info. I have my supportive stuff on innate arcana And set the other spells on settings->quickbar slots
Do they have to also be in the slot above the abilities? (The ones that cost mastery points) what does that do if I put an ability in there?

yes you need to put those on the slots that cost mastery point, else they won't have any effect. imagine the ability as materia and those slots as materia slot on weapon in ff7 QUOTE((Cheater) KamuiSeph @ Oct 7 2018, 15:53) Was just wondering about mage in general. you don't just spam mp pots, you'll also spam mp draught too, and spirit draught, and spirit potion, and sometimes elixir if you're not strong enough. for 1h with enough block and parry usually only mana draught is enough (as long as you don't have to spend so much healing) this is how it looks now. that's mid-low price equip dark mage doing 150 round arena and that's 1h-heavy doing grindfest. Thanks! I appreciate the details. One more quick question. I'm looking to buy a rapier/force shield/full power armor equipment.
What would I roughly be in for (credit wise) for decent gear? and if possible, where should I spend more and what can I skimp on? Like is it better to get a really really good expensive rapier and ok shield, or better to get pretty good rapier and pretty good shield?
I've got like 3,1mil C and 125 Hath to spend
I can rustle up another ~1,5mil C if necessary

a "just working" 1h heavy equip is relatively cheap, you could get legendary rapier as low as 50k as long as you're not too fussy with element and adb, so do leg force shield with low block and undesirable PAB (read : agility), power slaughter armors is more expensive as they might go in million even for mid-low pab. problem is you need to consider your level too, as you can't equip stuff with higher lvl than yours and you can't soulfuse equip more than 100 level above you (not to mention it's fkin expensive to soulfuse equip 100 lvl above yours, moreover legendaries) so, lower level equips sometimes are more expensive than higher level equip (on auction usually low adb bonus rapier could have no bid while the other got around 300-400k only because one is lvl 500 and the other is <lvl 350) in my experience exq rapier and mixmatched mag-heavy armor (any power and plate) work fine until 350-ish, mag rapier works fine until 400, even at this level I still use 3 mag power slaughter, and I'm fine doing grindfest. except for the shield and rapier, the difference between expensive and cheap 1h-heavy equips are mostly time needed to clear content. so if you're going to look, look for decent ADB and parry rapier, and high block force shield first. for a temporary alternative : exq/mag elemental rapier with str-dex and 30%+ block kite shield/buckler barrier should be fine. for armors just grab any plate and power you could find, and slowly change to power slaughter with higher adb bonus. actually at your level and until early 300-ish using light armor is fine too as the evade might help in case your shield didn't give enough block for survivability. if you wants to look for what you expect to pay for them, try look for past auction, super keep his past auction record here : [ reasoningtheory.net] https://reasoningtheory.net/ check the itemlist. wait for the pieces you want to appear at the auctions, be sure that they aren't over 100 higher than your current level, don't try to wait for pieces in the 90%+ since they're rare at such levels, conform to legendary pieces in the 40-80% and bid 500k at most if it is a really good piece, i think you can get your full set for a million, the problem is the soul fragments you'll need if they're really high level, don't buy something that you won't equip for a long time rapiers are more expensive if they're holy/dark, I'd say just go for other element a good shield is important since the block % is what keeps a power armor player alive, don't forget to check that the shield has dexterity to further increase block, also upgrade the block the max you can or ask someone to forge it for you, get the materials needed; a most desired shield has STR DEX END, but conform to STR DEX AGI if you can't get one you should try to get armor of protection/warding, with high ADB but if you see a piece of slaughter with lowish ADB that isn't getting much attention go for it and when/if you reach level ~350 get new better gear, either to replace your equipment, or start trying mage, though i wouldn't recommend it until level 400
